I bouught a '13 Griso and had it painted tenni green. I kept the black seat because I thought it looked tougher. I'm a bit shy of 30k on it and love this bike! Great video about a bike that doesn't get enough props. Thanks for posting it

@@TheMotopologist agreed! I was thinking Ducati Monster or Scrambler but there's a Moto Guzzi service and repair facility right down the street from my place in Philly and a dealership only a half hour away, and the Guzzi has way more character than anything out there, in my opinion.

@@Slapsamillion held up great so far knock on wood. I've had it over 130mph more times than I can count on all my toes and fingers combined. It is a pure enthusiast motorcycle and not for the faint of heart if you don't have much riding experience.

@@codybieker4924 Not a beginner, but this would be the heaviest bike I've ever owned. It's kind of between this or an ADV bike. Two opposite ends of the spectrum. Just seeing for what kind of deal comes up soon. I'd also do a V7 Racer if I found one nearby :)

Coming from a Buell, I was really tempted to buy one. Went to a used dealer in Oakland and he had/still has a really clean low mileage late model one there. Only thing is it's leaking something I think around the intake. I didn't ride it but started it up and fell in love with it, sounded strong... And like it would taunt me into trouble.. I ended up buying a RnineT /5 because I wanted something new for a change and I love it as well albeit it's not the Italian sexy but still beautiful to look at.

@jeffslade1892

That weeping could well be from the breather. The sponge filters in the breather box are gathered by native divers from deep in Lake Como (well you would think so given delivery speed and their price), and can get drowned in oil if you have a split breather hose; relatively cheap fix (which the dealer should sort). Unreliable german (40% fail rate) or italian jewellery contest?
@moddude101
@moddude101 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheMotopologist I had an XB9SX. Great bike but a little hard to find a good mechanic. When I started up the Guzzi it reminded me of the Buell but more taunting to ride fast. I would love to have one someday.

I picked up a Griso by accident, it was $5k with twelve hundred miles. I knew nothing about it or the company, I just knew that was a good deal. Quickly became my favorite bike--just a blast to ride. I mapped it and dropped the fork a little but did nothing else. Not exactly a comfortable commuter but so fun that I often use it instead of my multistrada.

You need to ride with more core strength. Take the weight off your bars and use your stomach muscles and knees tight into the tank. I'm 6 foot 2 inch and can ride my Griso for 4 hours no issues. Time to hit the gym ;)

Nice video. But forks are Showa not Sachs. And the bike is a ton of fun to ride, didn't really get that sense from the video. The power characteristics need to be experienced! And with the correct rear spring preload, tight corners are not really an issue (stock rear spring is a bit light).
@TheMotopologist
@TheMotopologist 4 жыл бұрын
You sir are correct! I forgot to the check the fork hubs and sure enough "Showa" is stamped on there. The rear shock is much more visible with it's Sachs marking. It incredible difficult to display and communicate just how much fun the power band is on the Griso, but I do my best to convey it with on board video and words. Thanks again for the correction!
@jeffslade1892
@jeffslade1892 4 жыл бұрын
I had a play with the stock shocks' pre-load on my V7ii and found the problem is not there but with the tyres. The stock Pirelli are quite honestly abysmal. With some good Avon fitted the bike transforms, the rear shocks like to be a little soft, and the bike can then take rough bends (of which we have a lot in England) at speed without getting out of shape, the shocks taking the lumps out but the wheels glued to the road. Road holding significantly better than for example a Tiger 800.

I think he was exaggerating for effect. Of the four bikes I currently own and maybe ten I've owned throughout my life, the griso corners the worst. It can be partially remedied by dropping the front fork a couple notches but still sucks. That said, it's also my favorite bike. Lol

My 2006 griso could and would often out corner many current bikes, from 2014 to 2021. i've had 5 other guzzles that provided the education around the sometimes eccentric guzzi characteristics.

I would never ever call this bike a cruiser, it's so not that. Plus the CofG is so low, because the crankshaft is down at the bottom, a Guzzi handles far lighter than the scales tell you.
