I was in my 20s in the 1990s, but I somehow missed out on The Muffs. I didn't latch onto the band upon Kim's death either, because I didn't even hear that that had happened at the time. I should probably get out more. Regardless, I just started listening to them in the past few weeks, and they have instantly become one of my favorites ever. Sadly enough, this band was like my very private Idol that I wouldn't share with mainstream(I know it's weird), so there's nobody that I could ask to reminds me about her. I'm with Johnny Thunders on this one: "It's just rock'n'roll." I'm not a believer in the idea of "real punk" for this very reason, the only name you need is "Rock'n'roll", but also the Sex Pistols were an update of The Rolling Stones and The Faces. The Ramones were just playing a faster version of the early Elvis and Chuck Berry, doo-wop, etc. I even think Joey Ramone started to sound a bit like Elvis nearer the end. Even DKs were mixing rockabilly, surf, 60's psychedelia & film scores.
