its supposed to be how herman n lily met so they dont have eddie yet in the film. Its a shame it did so poorly cos they could easily write off herman's voice making it deeper in a hypothetical sequel as him "having gone through puberty" due to the fact we see him literally created/birthed in the film. It felt rushed and was also one of the many films effected by the pandemic making it so that you really could only use a few actors and sets since we were all locked down. if they made a follow up im sure it would be about the family with Eddie etc though im sure they would just inverse what happens in the film meaning they would start in the US then probably have to go back to Transylvania cos lets face it unless you make it like that Wednesday show thats on netflix theres not much one can do with a 60s sitcom family. It doesn't translate well to a modern movie goer and i really doubt universal etc would dump money into something SPECIFICALLY made for boomers (ie no action and lots of talking etc thats why most films like that are independent); like always the hollywood scum wanna try n milk as much cash out of anything. i feel like there was effort to make it work but between the budget (this was made by universal's direct to DVD publisher) and the pandemic limiting cast etc the cards were not in Rob's favor unfortunately. the movie is more tolerable in black and white though not gonna lie. feel natural and almost makes it work. thank you for attending my Ted Talk

Part of it was that people were annoyed that it was shot in 60fps, which made it look like a TV production shot on tape (or digital media in 30i/60p), which I guess Rob Zombie thought would help make it look more like a TV sitcom, except that the original Munsters TV show was shot on film in 24 fps, so he kind of messed up on that point...

The Munsters of the sixties was funny because it was absurd, like a lot of other shows, Green Acres, Get Smart. The only absurd part of Zombie's remake was how ill-conceived it was. Bad writing, bad acting, bad everything. And yeah, it actually looked bad and cheap.

Especially the one who tried to act as Herman Munster.

how can a film about a 58 year old spooky sitcom can be anything but a work of passion? like, to be soulless it'd need to be in the zeitgeist to be profitable and the most culturally relevant thing about the munsters was that weird non-costume 2000s reboot and that rock song about grandpa's car. knockoff, sure. rob zombie's nothing if not loyal to the old sitcom's style, it's lighting amd even it's framerate. but then again, can you really be a knockoff if you have the license?

what? if they changed everything then it would be called non-respecting cashcow. if they did almost the same as the original then itd be called a knockoff (i mean almost the same because this is literally the same minus small change in camera and movements because you cant really replicated it 1:1) seems like theres no winning either way

I honestly think Sheri Moon Zombie was the only one who struggled with the acting in that. Jeff Daniel Philips did pretty decent as his own version of a young Herman Munster and Daniel Robuck was fantastic as Grandpa imo
