How durians work is that u have to experience eating it first with the horrible smell and it will be a disgusting experience at first. But after u sleep on it and try it again another time, you'll get past the "horrible" smell and discover the sweet taste as if eating it the second time removed the horrible masked spell of the fruit.

most people got overwhelmed by the smell so it affects how it tasted since youre already overthrown by the smell, once you overcome all of those you can taste the sweetness and the richness of durian's flavour.. also most south east asian are so used to this the smell eventually turns good.

I thought so too! But then maybe because it was in a resort it was expensive, I've visited many times and though I have yet to taste it. I've seen it at a cheaper price in food courts.

Usually they charge different price when they see foreigner~ It always like that~ My friend (a foreigner) at someplace get charge more when he go alone rather than when I go with him! sometimes 7-12 dollar different~

i always thought i hit the jackpot when i got a durian from an old tree. omg the freakin stinkin smell.the slightly 0.1% bitter taste,with 99% sweetness.the crumpled skin of the flesh.omg omg omg.my hearts racing for it.....really is damn good!!

Not all. It depend. Like for me even if I go to Korean nowadays, I also don't find the food or the places as appealing. Yeah many would say because I went a lot of time, I agree that will be the cause of it but this also have to do with your curious level and willingness to explore. personally my curiosity mindset is not very high. Thus I don't really find it so different and enthusiastic about other country

A lot of tourists only know about chilli crab and some about black pepper crab... But only the experienced tourists know about salted egg crab! And Kaya~~~ hope they get to come for more days next time and try out better and even cheaper food!

not really at a resort.. it's at Jumbo Seafood place, at east coast park.. and yes, sometimes its pricey there.. you can get it cheaper elsewhere..

this is at East Coast, one of the bigger names for chilli crab. Worst place to have them. I mean yes, it tastes heavenly, but ridiculous prices as well. Just had really nice ones else where. Big Sri Lankan crabs at $50 odd.

bruh that place is rather famous. Not your typical tze char chilli crab. They had it at the red house which is on par with jumbo and long beach. Dine in there before you spill shit rofl

No... looking at the place they ate the chilli crabs, the price is supposed to be like this. If they ate it at a typical coffee shop, the price would definitely be lower, but they ate it at a restaurant.

the place they ate chilli crab i went there before. the chilli crab taste bad. im a singaporean and i recommend they go hawker centre to eat it is more cheap and taste better.

For anyone who didn't know, durian has tat kind of magic. After your first attempt, it will gradually tasted better until the point you won't missed it when you have slight hint of the smell. For the first timer tho, it's either make you want to puke or makes you wants to passed out (it contain some kind of natural alcohol)

SarahShai Ozil they might went to an expensive place, we got our chili crab for only S$37. Or might be because of how many grams or kilo the crab is. They are basing the price on the weight.

@@arcequena2703 It is based on weight. Actually the prices across Singapore is quite fair and reasonable. Restaurants will have a slight markup of around $20. For $37, the crab must have been really small. For $78 is where you get the big meaty flesh crabs. Even if you buy at hawker center stalls, a big crab will go to around $50++. Also, hawker stall which are less popular will not stock the really big and expensive crabs. They will usually only have the smaller crab, thus the cheaper price at $37. It is only if the stall is popular enough that they are confident that they will get customers regularly, then they will stock the large crabs. And at restaurants specialising in crabs, their main sell is the large crabs. Nobody goes for the smaller crabs (even though it is cheaper) unless the bigger crabs are sold-out.

Indonesia, malaysia, singapore and brunei is very close which is the islands. it means that some of few people went to other country for vacation, traveling or anything and with that they learn about the people, foods and cultures. also singapore bordered with Indonesia. few Bugis people has lived in singapore so it is easy to found everything about the culture in there. it's like exchange. i'm sorry if my english doesn't good. and i can't really explains because my lack english. i recommended that you browsing at google 😀😀😀

BUGIS is the name of one tribe in indonesia precisely located in south sulawesi

Yes and that's why that area is named Bugis. Many bugis people resided there way back. We have the Javanese, Arabs, Bugis, Bawean etc.

I've been to Singapore twice and I haven't had as much adventures as them lol (because we travel with a family) it's such a beautiful country I hope to live there some day. This battle trip si so awesome I don't think I'll bother with watching the girls' trip because I think it'll be boring and disappointing.

Theresa Tan Lol I sort of guessed you were a citizen. It's only normal for citizens and locals to not be as thrilled as tourists and visitors and that's the beauty of it. Singapore is as small as my country the longest car ride to take from one point to another is almost two hours. I guess it's the history of the country and it's diversity is what amazes me, plus it's nature.

Watching this just makes me feel like having a chili crab now, although $78 per kg is too expensive... One thing to note is always go to places where locals eat when in another country, coz those places are definitely cheaper and just as good.

Yes!! Chilli crab is a must-eat in Singapore or else you'll regret 😂 it really tastes good with the bread !!!! Would recommend the place at East Coast park if I'm not wrong,it's called Long beach! I think,I'm not so sure but I've definitely been there before with my family :)) I live in Singapore btw 😂😂😂😂

Mellben Seafood is recommended for crab dishes! But probably only locals will know how to get there.. Meanwhile, there are many other nicer hawker centres too! Old Airport Road and Tiong Bahru are 2 big ones, and many more. Newton is too commercialised :(

To tourist /people that have not tried Durian. Pricier durians are definitely better than low quality durians. If you have cheap low quality durians, even durian lovers will stay away from them. That being said, you shouldn't be spending over a hundred dollars on durian, always ask for the price before buying/requesting to open. Durian is amazing and try to enjoy it with an open mind. Drink lots of water too!

In my opinion, I prefer black pepper crab to chili crab. I do love both tho.
