I finished it a few months ago. I loved it! I only wish I hadn't seen the trailer, because for some idiotic reason, they spoil the fact that: *SPOILER* she's not the only person stuck in the loop. I mean, what the actual fuck?! That's something that's not revealed until the last few seconds of episode three, and would have made such a huge impact, had it not already been revealed in the trailer. I hope you saw it, without seeing the trailer.

Hey Art thanks for the Under the Silver Lake recommendation. I just watched it and found it to be an utterly fascinating film floating quite successfully somewhere in the zone between Alfred Hitchcock and David Lynch with elements of recent LA cult films like Starry Eyes, Neon Demon and Sound of my Voice, and pinches of Eyes Wide Shut thrown in. I think this film will only improve with age. Mucho gracias. Going to finally see Midsommar tonight here in Tbilisi Georgia.

It’s not really a horror film. It’s more a period drama with graphic themes and violence. But the violence is not gore or exploitive. It’s more suggestive. Which is even more telling on the craft of the director because the way she frames the scenes go for maximum emotional impact. She also had a clinical psychologist on set for the actors to consult regarding accurate portrayal and if they needed help letting go of the issues they were portraying. I think that is responsible film making... we don’t know what can trigger someone else. Just because something doesn’t affect me, doesn’t mean it wont trigger an emotional reaction in someone else. If you want to see a beautifully directed movie that deals with issues of colonial violence and racism and violence against women and indigenous cultures, I cant recommend it enough.

btw it takes a lot for a show to bore me. i’m a massive fan of breaking bad and better call saul two of the biggest slow burns on TV. i don’t need guns and explosions and non stop action to keep my attention, i just need investment in these characters and the story and yet peaky blinders just completely fails to get my investment. I like the style, the music, the looks, the acting, the actual peaky blinders are cool af but when it comes to the actual story it just feels empty

You really need to talk about the show Pen15. Like it's a comedy based off of growing up and being a teen in the 2000s but it gets so deep in bullying, online dating, racism, divorce, friendships, contraband, um **cough** "alone time" **cough cough** and that's just off the top of my head. Midsommar is one of my favorite horror movies next to It Follows and Cabin In The Woods. Then maybe like Ju-On or Ringu. Also Battle Royale if that can count as horror.
