Bernadine is a breath of fresh air - smart, insightful, talented and able to look at the big picture and explain this crazy town to the rest of us. She and Heather Daybell are the only residents I’ve heard who really understand how evil the Chad and Julie Rowe religion is and are willing to call people out. Everyone else seems to be unwilling to take accountability for their beliefs and actions even now. (They claim they were just naive and deceived, it’s never their fault.)When she compared the corruption in Rexburg to the Murdaugh situation it really made sense. Also Eldons death is very suspicious!

I love the Gospel and 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints." I am however a realist and am very much aware of the fact that in the very midest of goodness, there can be people that are vipers and coopters of truth in order to use and misuse it for their own selfish and gratuitous lusts and desires. And they can and will do anything to hide and cover it up. I have lived in other states and places other than Idaho and Utah, I have seen corruption occur in other areas as well. I have personal experience and knowledge concerning corruption in the Rexburg police department with certain persons, I lost a dear friend who was murdered in Rexburg by her husband a year and a half ago. Everything was covered up, no death announcement regarding her death was ever announced, her family covered it all up and had the police cover it up. everything had to do with MONEY and an INHERITANCE. It was a travesty of justice. We, her friends and co-workers and other family that were not involved with any of that, are still devastated. We are the ones that had a memorial service for her, even when her family didn't and had her cremated and stuck into her Moms grave with no dignity. If only people knew just how WRONG it all was and has been. I was a personal friend of a decorated Rexburg police officer who along with four other officers all walked off the force in Rexbrug at the same time, when the corrupt "superior officer," was re-elected over 17 years ago. I believe that there is far more in the way of secret combinations that are going on everywhere in this world, not just Rexburg or Idaho or Uah.

Look up the various types of Bi-Polar Disorder. Julie Rowe is a classic. I know first hand, very close relative who had these symptoms, never got help. The longer they go without help, without medication, the worse the symptoms become. The symptoms will begin to closely resemble schizophrenia. Look it up, it's true. Julie Rowe, classic Bi-Polar. Some of these people will inherit the disorder outright, while others will develop it from a trauma, like child sexual abuse. The symptoms can be like obsessive compulsive. Lying is a typical behaviior. They can be awake all night, cleaning or on the computer, very little sleep. They self medicate; often they become alcoholics or drug addicts to reduce the constant 'thinking' which is like rapid subject changing. THAT leads to the inability to concentrate, to focus or a problem with reading comprehension. Frequently, they do have learning problems in school. There is sexual deviency, S & M, Desires for relations with inappropriate partners, age inappropriate or even species. Yes, it gets VERY bad. One very typical behavior, mentioned above is lying. The lies are always the sort which make them appear important, special, for instance, the base guitar player in a band which had only one hit song. Not once do they expect anyone to check to find out if it's true. They break the law, theft or willing to sell anything or anyone in order to get something they value in return. Consequences are not considered, they are compulsive. They are verbally abusive and eventually, physically abusive. It can get to the point to believing their own lies. If there's an occasion which they realize they've behaved badly, which might be due to finding themselves in jail, they claim to not remember. If confronted by the victim, they deny, deny, deny and can even turn the whole thing around and angrily blame the victim. From all I've seen, read or heard of Julie Rowe, she has to be Bi-Polar.

I have always thought that Chud had something to do with Eldon’s death. What I want to know is this: who is working on finding out what was in the bodies of all those who seemed to die by “pulmonary embolism.” I will be shocked if they never find out! LE has to have somebody working on that! Just too much coincidence! To me… it has something to do with the rings! Malachite! My understanding is that the dust is extremely toxic. My question is how long does it take to leave the body to become undetectable? Any body else have any thoughts on this?

From watching the Coroner's testimony, she took the weird off people and didn't evaluate what she saw. She said she believed that Chad had pulled the sheet and that caused Tammy's body to fall to the floor. But Chad had said he heard her fall off the bed. But no marks from the closeness of the bedside table was to the bed. The pink foam that kept coming back when wiped away, she didn't understand that. Maybe she's LSD?

The theory about the difference between Tylee’s and JJ’s burials is interesting, but I suspect it was really more basic than that. I suspect that Chad and Alex thought they were going to be able to burn both bodies and not leave any trace, but like so many other murderers, they discovered that burning a human body is much more difficult than they ever imagined. Hence the condition of Tylee’s remains and their not even bothering with JJ and just burying the poor kid.

Your takes makes a lot of sense. I can see how Chad and Lori would be attracted to the idea of fire, plus some crazy doctrinal reasons, and then realized it was too hard (If they were true crimers, they'd have known this of course). I do wonder what they were thinking in burning the bodies on that property in broad daylight close to the road and with plenty of neighbors. Did the neighbors notice? And how did they do this with Tammy in the house, and weren't some of the kids still around?

I think this is what happened, too. I think they were inept at breaking down the body and tried to hurry to do it. Maybe because of Eldon, even. It could have been rage but I think it was more likely them trying to quickly do it. Alex couldn’t do anything right and Chubs had no strength…bad combo.

I agree, but I think they did that to Tylee because they weren’t strong enough to move her. Chad certainly couldn’t, he is a putz, and Alex couldn’t do it himself, and Lori was tiny, they just couldn’t move her. I kind of figured, before they found her, that is how she would be found, just because Lori and Alex wouldn’t be able to move her, nor would Chad be able to. I think the way they hacked at her was just chads dream, he was a sick man. You could see from the way he harmed bees, he had a fascination with death.

I struggle with this. Experiences of rejection are normal in life. Experiences of trauma are not statistically abnormal, unfortunately. This is heart wrenching. With that said, this kind of thinking is absolutely crazy AF. To think that because you like Indian food means that you lived in India in a past life, or if you’re inspired by Joan of arc, you actually were her in a past life, this is not normal or average thinking. Any individual has to be profoundly less than average intelligence and/or have profound narcissism in order to support these bizarre and illusory correlations. There is no way to communicate how disturbing this trend is. This type of bizarrely delusional thinking, which has been THE pin in multiple murders, cannot become mainstream. It’s too terrifying to think of because if this is normal, we are all fucked.

That would not have helped. These folks think themselves as special. They believe it is THEY who hold the secrets to the Universe. They wouldn't bother listening to the LDS Church officials because they believe themselves to be Superior to them. The only way to help is to expose the "leaders" as charlatans. We can see it, we as outsiders have done enough research comparing the discrepancies in Chad's statements and in his books. That's probably the only way to demonstrate their prophet is a fraud.

I remember this is the first thing I watched from hidden true crime. Somehow this video was listed in my algorithm. I loved this in depth interview. I did not subscribe initially so got lost. I think Lauren was on Mormon stories and realized this is who conducted that interview. Been subscribed ever since ❤

I appreciate your passion in this case and appreciate your coverage. I think so many grieve for the families and we just want justice for everyone involved. It is hard not to be so incredibly angry on behalf of the kids and Tammy. I also hate that Chad and Lori used religion to justify all of this. That makes it so much worse. Chad is hard to watch at trial. He never moves he is hidden in his turtle shell or something. It is creepy. He clearly does not truly respect woman and that is sad. I am sad that his children still may believe in him. I am sad if And when they realize how awful he is. So sad. Prayers for the families. Praying for justice. Thankyou for your passion and your hubbies input! ❤

This is all fascinating, especially in light of what Heather Daybell experienced in the town and church. It must have been a surreal experience living there.

This interview with Bernadine makes some sense of why Heather's concerns were falling on deaf ears. Im not in the US and not that familiar with the LDS Church and it seemed so crazy that others could not see through Chad the way Heather did. I still thought that there was just a handful of people in this mini cult, and it seemed odd that they could be so manipulative and do so much damage. Bernadines view from being in that town/community, that there were so many people into Chads visions / beliefs (?) makes a lot of sense. His supporters may not have known about murders but their following would have stroked Chads ego. It maybe also follow in line with John Dehlins comments (Mormon Stories Podcast) on how populat the book 'Vision's of Gllory' is in the LDS community. ?? ...Though Im out of my depth with all of this.

Interesting that two people who knew Darkbell (and may have been believers of his ideas) died suddenly of pulmonary embolism. I’m talking about Eldon Clawson and Alex Cox. And, when asked what happened to Tammy, one of the explanations put forth by Darkbell was that she died of a … wait for it … pulmonary embolism. Also interesting, how was Clawson’s cause of death determined to be pulmonary embolism if there was no autopsy. Someone on another KZfaq indicated that you can acquire certain snake venom in Mexico and that if ingested that venom causes death that mimics PE. If this is true, isn’t that interesting ??? Recall that Heather Daybell was upset that so many people in the community were buying in to the Darkbell/Rowe preachings. Heather knew that community and how they would behave if they adopted the Darkbell/Rowe belief system.

I love Bernadine. She's so lovely and honest. This was a fascinating interview!!! Thank you so much. Just wow. This is very heavy stuff. I grew up Pentacostal and my father is now 81 and still a conspiracy theorist to this day. I had food in my bedroom growing up, learned to shoot guns at an early age and was taught how to "speak in tongues" before the age of 12, and a lot of what she spoke about is very familiar to me. My parents were even in a splinter worship group when i was a kid. We (there are 4 of us kids) used to fall asleep at their friends houses into the late evening and get Dunkin donut holes as a treat on the way home, so a lot of this stuff has touched my life. Thank you again!

My son has Autism and I too was taught the idea that he is elect and free from the burden of agency. That exaultation is already given to him bc he cant be held accountable for sin. Ive never been endowed and he has never been on the churxh records or baptised and many people in my circle have made the comment of me being separated from him in the eternities even though he is not a member.

I was only a Mormon convert for three years at age 23. I don't get how anyone could believe a loving father/mother could keep families apart (after earthly death) just because they haven't all been 'sealed' 'baptized' etc. It makes me wonder what the heck I was thinking when I signed up. Well I kinda know. I was going through a divorce from an @busive/controlling husband. I got a nice new family in the church. People that cared for me and didn't hurt me. Then I heard what the other members were saying about me. Saying that I was only there for a new husband, maybe a missionary. The strange thing was, was one of the Elders had the convo on tape. He played it to me and I cried. I told him he HAD to take it to our Bishop. Nothing came of it that I know of. I still went to church for a year after hearing the tape. It wasn't why I left.

THANK YOU: Bernadine understands the self-fulfilling prophecy concept of "end times." She's very very smart. She'sh right on, too, with the "secrecy" thing, and suspicion; t is a perfect breeding town for what happened. We are only INSTRUMENTS of the Lord, we are NOT the Lord.

48:33 Does anyone else think Lori was ashamed of Tylee because of her weight? I got that vibe. She didn’t even take Tylee to her brothers wedding until after the pictures were taken…or that is what I was told. Does anyone remember that? Colby’s wife said Tylee DID come to the wedding, said she just didn’t get there until AFTER those pictures were taken. She then said Lori was such a manipulator! Colby just sat there and didn’t say anything. I am sure it’s hard on him. He loves his mom I sure but can u even imagine being her daughter in law? Holy Cow!
