Erik is still my favourite player of all time. He played a good game, he was just too young to outsmart players like parvati, cirie, etc. If he reached final 2 his chances would've been high, and he did great in challenges too.

I think giving up your inmunity necklace is more riskier than something dumber. Many people remember Erik and Brandon, but I'm sure that no one remember when Jenna gave up her inmunity necklace to Heidi and kicked out Christie on Survivor Amazon, was her good move.

Erik is my favorite character of all time. He was great in later seasons.

Honestly, I think Erik giving up immunity wasn't as stupid as most people usually say it is. Erik's mistake was choosing the wrong people for the reward challenges and not doing a good job controlling information. If he had played a better social game, it would have been extremely stupid, but because he was in a bad social place, giving up immunity was totally the right decision. His poor social game meant there was no way for him to win at the final tribal unless he made a big move like giving up immunity. It was a massive risk, but I think it's better to go out taking a big risk rather than be a 0 vote finalist. The way he managed that reward challenge was his real mistake. Giving up immunity was his best chance at fixing it.

Erik giving up immunity is the dumbest move in Survivor history. It made no sense whatsoever. He had absolutely no reason to trust anyone left in the game, which differentiates him from Brandon, who was betrayed by his closest allies. Great move by Cirie, though.

I think we need a new metric added to this series. It doesn't really make sense when contestants are labeled "Smart" when they win individual immunities. Like, of course everyone's competing for individual immunity (usually), does that make all the rest of the cast who doesn't win, dumb? Spitballing here, but maybe strong/weak added as an additional metric?

It'd almost be more fair to not call him a dumb player, when he was playing a good and smart game for most of the time. It's more a testament to how good Parvati, Amanda, Cirie, and Natalie are at manipulation. Less that he's bad, and more that they're just that good.

He handles the end well. I’d be so upset at what they just took from me. If he felt a little more secure in his game, he may have been able to own his decisions and not feel like a lost puppy

Ozzy being too arrogant to bring his idol with him is way dumber than Erik being social pressured into a split second decision that was against his better judgement. People do that all the time. I think Americans are kinda unique in that people mistakenly believe that they'd be immune to those kinds of tactics which is scams are thriving in the U.S.

God. If natalie had found the hidden immunity, he won the individual immunity. Wow. Would of had a completely different ending. I love erick. What a rough ending to his fitst season.

Just a nugget of knowledge, not sure anyone has ever convinced another person to give up safety in order to gain trust at the end of survivor or big brother, and it wasn’t in an attempt to vote out the person that was safe. I’d use that as my reasoning for why I couldn’t do it.

I don’t get the love for him. I mean, I don’t _dislike_ him, but he’s a doofus who was in over his head from the beginning. First he wants to blindside Ozzy so badly that he’s begging Chet not to ask for a mercy killing. Then he falls into a pathetic infatuation/hero worship so intense that, when the time _is_ right to blindside Ozzy, instead of being part of one of the all time great moves he’s left on the outside looking in, equal parts shocked and petulant.

Aside from the dumb move I don't think Erik was ever gonna win. I definitely think Amanda or Parvati would have still reached the final 2.
