That's so great to read, thank you very much! I was lucky with that hotel. It was really not high standard, but what a location and the most amazing thing I forgot to mention in the video: incredibly loud exotic birds, almost screaming like next to my ears, from 3am! Really memorable

Hey Chris, Thanks for another great flight review...it makes me want to pack my bag & head off to Fiji immediately! (it's a very damp and dreary day here in W.Australia) What a fab looking airline, aside from the seat not fully recling, everything else looks really good and the catering looks totally unique, I love it - I so want to try the Ice cream! You really should be the size of an A380 by now 😊 Personally Chris, I enjoy your reviews way more than the 'big boys of youtube' I do hope you keep doing what you're doing, you're really good at it. Hi Judy! Thank you very much for the great feedback. To be honest I sometimes think about discontinuing the channel. I put all my free time (not to speak about the money) into making the best possible reports, and yet way under 10000 subscribers. I'm just really unlucky. But every single subscriber is very dear to me, and then such a great feedback makes me feel confident against all numbers and continue. Fiji Airways is really a very special airline. You should fly them eventually. At least it's a bit closer to Australia - but then Western Australia is quite far again from there, I know..... Cheers from Germany! Chris

Loved your report! Been to Fiji a few times, my favourite there was Coconut Beach Resort on the Yasawa Islands. Would definitely consider Fiji Airways despite its age, would be much better than Virgin Australia.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of small islands that offer nothing but a hotel, no matter how many stars and how big their outdoor shower is. I only think about the destroyed islands. And there's nothing to see but palmtrees, white beaches and outrageous bills for room, food and beverages, all in a country with a rather rigid Muslim regime. (even though that doesn't affect tourists, as it's all about money and foreign currencies) I'd clearly prefer Fiji, as a combination of some cultural tour of the main Island plus the amazing small island off-shore. But I know that there's people who only wanna see the Maldives (I'm just not one of them)

@@TravelSingFlyEnglishEdition thx for replying, but I do agree with you, most if not all Maldives travel reviews are about 6 stars or super exclusive hotels, but almost no one (I think, correct me if i am wrong) do some other activities beside snorkeling, sunset, etc.

@@tanzil88 very true. Because there just isn't anything else. And it comes all with huge fees that are close to ridiculous just because the guests are trapped in that one hotel island. Not my idea of broadening my horizon...

Believe me they don't. There would also not be enough space to the front. It's recliner seats.

Thanks Chris! Lovely review of Fiji Airways. Just a couple of notes for clarification: kava isn't a dessert, it's actually a drink, it's a root from the kava plant mixed with water and served in our ceremonies. It's called yaqona in Fijian. Secondly, Nadi usually is pronounced "Nandi" as Fijian has an 'n' sound usually before pronouncing d. But I do hope you get come back to explore Suva, the capital, the mainland (Viti Levu) and Vanua Levu too. ❤❤❤

Of course I know that Kava is actually a plant, and the root is used here, as one of many ingredients for the dessert. I thought I said it right that's it's a Kava dessert, as I always research things properly when I don't know about them, but looks like I failed here. Thank you therefore for the valuable addition. I hope you'll find more content on my channel that's interesting to you even though it's not about beautiful Fiji.

Flown on Fiji Airways a dozen times. Problem with business class from LAX is it cost 3X more. Your looking at around 5K USD round trip from LAX. The seats on coach are the most miserable I've ever seen. Just horrible with the worst pitch imaginable. But I recent just made a trip out on their newer A350 and it was bearable in Coach. Definitely far better then the older cattle car that the A330 was. Also the service is much better. They finally canned most of those older Fijian stewards after the pandemic. Their service was next to almost non existent. They have a much younger staff now and they actually work. The older ones used to just go back and go to sleep. Its was a laughable airline. They really turned things around for the better. Still wish they had competition from LA to Nadi. Its still a government run airline and they don't allow any other airlines to fly that route. No competition means you will always pay more and service could also be better. But all in all, its much better then before. At least on their newer A350 airbus.

@@TravelSingFlyEnglishEdition Also forgot to mention their other programs to get more money from the passengers. If the plane is not full you will start getting text messages before flight if you want a "bubble seat". I bought a bubble seat. All that means is two people traveling together can buy the third seat meaning two people will have the entire row (3 seats). I think they charged 200 USD for this. Going over I tried to get one but they said the plane was too full. But for some reason, we had a bubble seat for free. The only open seat on the plane. Now had we not had that open seat the trip would have been absolutely miserable. They also will text you before flight if you want to purchase an entire row for one person. I think they charge 500 USD for that. Funny thing is back in the day people used to just shuffle around the plane to take advantage of open seats. Not anymore. You want more space you pay for it before takeoff. I recall on the older A330 an indian fella trying to buy a bulkhead seat just before take off. The Fijian stewardess screamed at that guy to get back in her seat. I mean scream. That was the old Fiji airways that was the laughing stock of the skys.

@markborotv3688 0 seconds ago Sat in economy area for 11 hrs from SF to Nadi and was miserable. I’m only 5’10” and next to the window. The biggest issue was the seats were made of stone. I tell you is was like cement. My poor back side just could not get comfortable. I tried multiple pillows and alcohol while watching the 1st Star Wars movie hoping to fall asleep. No luck, twisting and turning all night. When we arrived in Fiji, I was surprised to hear my name over the loud speaker intercom in the airport. I was instructed to report to baggage area. “We’re sorry sir but your wife’s 2 bags of luggage are still in Sf do to a broken belt”. That’s just great, no sleep and now and upset wife. I need a drink fast. The luggage showed up 2 days latter. Show less Reply

While baggage can be lost and damaged all the me and with all Airlines (believe me, my luggage gets lost and/or damaged several times per year worldwide on the best and worst airlines alike, I stopped counting) But I know that sitting on an uncomfortable economy seat for 10+ hours is pretty tiring... As I said in this video, the business class shown isn't great either. At least you got to beautiful Fiji to get a great relaxing vacation.
