I don't know who Mrs Black is all I know is that I love this show. From the first episode I was hooked. Even without the back story, each episode gave clues that she wasn't from there and I know her and the Dr had a relationship. And I love Amiela's fighting skills

Claudia Black is best known for playing Aeryn Sun in Farscape and Vala Mal Doran in Stargate SG-1, and she voiced Artemis in God of War, Morrigan in the Dragon Age games and Matriarch Aethyta and Admiral Daro'Xen vas Moreh in the Mass Effect games, as well as the narrator in Final Fantasy XIV.

@@kolapse320 Salon insulted it, but they also called it a "Victorian Buffy" which told me they looked no further than the setting and the name "Whedon." A much more reasonable analysis would compare it to X-men in the Victorian times, (Whedon has worked on X-men both the comics and the film BTW) but that would probably intrigue people and have a less "click-bait-y" title! Others waxed poetic about Whedon's supposed "obsessions." They seems to less be looking at the show in front of them and doing an analysis on Whedon's whole career. They also complain that all the shows rehashed "typical" Whedon, but Whedon's work is pretty varied (Buffy, Angel, Avengers, Firefly, Astonishing X=men, X-Men:Last stand, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Dollhouse, The Cabin in the Woods, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Much Ado About Nothing, Justice League etc.) I'm not sure you could find a clear "obsession" present throughout his works. There is a tendency towards action, "genre" (Sci-fi, fantasy, superheros) and witty dialogue, ... but that's common interest in certain creators, especially now that what was once niche is now mainstream. About half his protagonists are women but shouldn't that be normal? Saying something is a "rehash of Whedon" might just mean it uses genre tropes ... and tropes are not bad, they're how stories get built. If feels like they want to dislike it because of of Whedon the person which is why little time is spent on the show itself in these articles.

@@maggiemakgill agreed... The detail that has gone into this series is phenomenonal. Costube (many of whom are dress historians and living museum employees) is going bananas over how accurate the costuming is. Despite Whedon (who I actually think is a great story teller, apart from Justice League), this series is an instant "chef's kiss"!

@Ricardo Alonso Rojas he should never leave in the first place. They should just tell people he left so they stop hating on it and then let him pull at least some of the strings behind the scenes. I mean this show needs his “touch”

@Ricardo Alonso Rojas The Marvel Cinematic Universe is working fine with multiple creators. The Nevers is big enough to have multiple creators.

@Ricardo Alonso Rojas Agents of SHIELD was Joss' brother from day one. Joss said he hated the idea. So Joss' name was just a contractual thing, not actual work.

SMG said “While I am proud to have my name associated with Buffy Summers, I don’t want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon.” Likewise, it's been six months since he left the show, but people continue to project their hate onto a show he is no longer a part of. That sounds like childish Cooties thinking.

Uh, did you miss the alien ship and the alien orb in the previous episodes? It's only confusing if you aren't able to follow a simple story.

@@aolson1111 I'm just saying that's a lazy explanation. It's right up there with god did for uninspired writers. But that was pretty much telegraphed. What was shocking was moving from victorian england to a future apocalypse in between episodes, and it was quite disappointing to leave an amazingly well designed world for a discount bin future world. They could have made it suspenseful if they just gave her visions of the future for a few episodes. That would have made me curious about what was going on and happy when we finally went to the future to get the answers. As it was, it was like watching a Dr. who episode in the middle of a historical superhero story. It clashed.

Not alien souls, spores from an alien being who can assume a ship-like form. And we already knew that from the first episode. Also, True made a number of references that suggested she was out of her own time.

It wasn't a seaon finale, it was a mid season finale. It isn't over they just broke it up. They restart later this month or early July

@@nemomortis1866 No, it wasn't... if anything, it got expanded, because there were going to be 10 episodes and now there are going to be 12 for the first season. The production stopped because of COVID and the first six were finished, now they will continue with a new showrunner.
