was thinking the same thing..also the c pillar in gray or black is an option for the top trim..it comes in body color as standard. silver and black is also full body color cars if you do not like the 2 tone thing. Doug missed a few things in this video. The power outlet under the back seat and that you can lower the trunk floor for more space up top and also the device you can connect to your charge port for an power outlet.

The dual screen isn't that bad. As an EV6 owner I keep mine mostly in the climate control mode and use the steering wheel controls for media functionality. Isn't really that bad.
@Spaghetti_Jam
@Spaghetti_Jam Жыл бұрын
I guess it was the idea behind it - you control your essential media functions on the steering wheel, but you can't control the climate there. However, if you want some more options you can switch the menus or the passenger who doesn't need to concentrate on the road can do it there or on the big screen. It does seem controversial at the first glance but after some thinking it looks ok)

Kia does this as a cost cutting measure that is more dangerous to you (screen have been proven to impair driving more than driving drunk) and the best thing you can say is "it's not that bad"? Do you realize there's a world of difference between what you're saying and "it's good"?

The remote forward/backwards parking movement is really a function of typical parking lots in Korea. It's very common for cars to park each other in as lots are pretty small, They leave the cars in neutral with phone numbers on the dash so you can contact the owner to move it, or shove the car out of the way yourself. In many cases, there is no gap between cars to open the doors so being able to extract your car remotely while playing vehicle Tetris would save having to push it yourself or having to climb through a window or something. Japan-style vehicle vending machine parking garages do exist in Korea, but they're much less common than you would see in Tokyo. Also unlike Japan, local Kia/Hyundais are the same size as the US versions, and there is no "kei" class of small city car like in Japan. In the US, we have the luxury of an enormous land mass we can spread out over, but the vast majority of countries worldwide don't have this luxury.
@winstonplatt7354
@winstonplatt7354 Жыл бұрын
Very interesting. Leaving the cars in neutral so others can push them! Kind of hilarious, but neat solution for limited space.
@ji-yoodojun6654
@ji-yoodojun6654 Жыл бұрын
yeah but modern cars have auto parking brakes so pushing is no longer an option but most people still leave phone numbers so you'd just call them. The cars are same size as US but there is a big trend to SUVs and bigger cars like MB GLE, Kia Sedona, BMW X5, Hyundai Palisade in Korea so parking is even more painful in small city parking lots. Remote movement would be a lifesaver in Korea.
@outermarker5801
@outermarker5801 Жыл бұрын
Which makes it even more egregious when US car owners still bash doors because parking spaces often don't exactly reflect the huge landmass, parking LOTS do
@ESKMOfficial
@ESKMOfficial Жыл бұрын
This is accurate, but missing some updates. There is a Kei-car like class of vehicles in Korea and they get some tax, parking, toll benefits. The Kia Morning and Hyundai Casper are examples of these. These days people do leave their phone number still (I don't), but they actually don't leave them in neutral anymore. If parked in those situations, they're manned by attendants who have the keys. I will confirm though that I do sometimes have to somewhat squeeze myself out of car and have sometimes just gone out the passenger side (my apartment parking lot spaces are really small). This feature would be a killer for me, definitely not something I'd key in on when shopping, but a welcome bonus.

Because the Auto systems are never where I want them to be. They're always blowing the wrong way, blowing the wrong temperature (so then I'm always having to mess with the temp dial and then 1 degree change is too much for me to tolerate because what comes out the vents is significantly different) and overall just annoying. Maybe I'm just in that 1% of people who doesn't think like everyone else when it comes to climate controls but I'm extremely picky. By far the best climate controls I've come across IMO is on my old 98 Saturn, infinitely variable positions on a slider (no Panel, Floor, Defrost only switches), infinitely variable temperature slider that I can dial in perfectly, the AC and Recirc buttons are separate and can be turned on at any time (and don't come on automatically with defrost which I find annoying). The only 'limiting' feature is a basic 4 speed fan. I really just don't like automated systems (not even automatic transmissions) but maybe I'm just weird

Next to range, this is one of the most important figures when shopping for an EV. The Kia Niro EV has a peak DC Charge rate of 85kW, whereas the Tesla Model 3 he compared it to has 250kw. This drastically changes the value proposition.

I don't mind the a-pain-to-access front storage, as it's a great place to store the 120v charger, so it doesn't have to tumble around the back like it does in our e-Golf. :) For me, I'm more about the Hyundai cousin, the Kona, because it's short enough to fit in my super short driveway, with the same range as the Kia.

Doug, that different color part is called the Aeroblade, and you can get it color-coded to the rest of the car. In fact in some trim packages, you can't even get that different color. This is coming straight from Kia's web page. However, now I'm tempted to buy my THIRD Niro, albeit another regular hybrid, as I don't really need the plug-in part (which I have now, but we'll see).

It appears the Niro EV will be more $ than the Bolt EUV and I don't think the Niro will qualify for the EV tax credit so it's kind of a no brainer to go for the Bolt EUV. But if someone wants a Niro EV, go for it, it looks nice and has some nice features. I also believe it charges faster than the Bolt which is odd given they are basically the same battery. But price wise, it will cost significantly more than the EUV. I'm seeing EUVs priced around $37K WITH Supercruise, add in the tax credit next year, the Bolt wins (of course Chevy will probably raise the price of the EUV when the tax credit comes into play.)

More quirks: If you set the Drive Type (Eco, Normal, Sport), it will reset back to default each time you start the car. If you get in and out twice per day, that's 730 per year that you have to change it back to your preference. This is frustrating. The same goes for Regen Braking. It's essentially set to default forever because you're not going to set it each time. Also, the MyUvo app is very slow. When you want to see your range or location of the car, it literally takes decades. And it fails half the time. Also keep in mind, for FWD electric cars, you're going to go through front tires every year. Unless you rotate like a bunny.

The only thing i don't like are the Split Headlights, Dayrunning Lights seperated from normal Lights. Should have been all in one. That said, the M4's look apparently grew on People because they are still selling like crazy here in Germany and the Special Versions of the M4 were sold out 1 day after Announcement. I think People will get used to it and like it. Kinda like the late 2000s M6 was considered super ugly by everyone online, and now it's rising in Price. Same will probably be true with Big Grille M4.

@@chartreux1532 I personally still dont like the look of that m6 rear end lol. BMW has said recently that they enjoy their controversial designs so I dont expect the design department to change anytime soon. My problem with the M4 isnt even the grills its evreything else, it looks uninspired. The headlights look like they belong on a toyota camry. The gills look like they are held on with double sided tape. The door handles look like a afterthought and they are placed too high. The rear end is flat and the rear diffuser sits too high so when you drive behind it all u see is muffler ... but the interior is georgous and im sure they drive better than anything else for the money. So I understand, but bmws clearly taken their design from beautiful to purposfully controversial for better or worse. Either way my car has tripled in value so im happy. 😆

The center charge port is both a good idea and bad. What Doug said it is a good idea knowing where the charge port is rather than having to figure out to park right or left of the charger. Now, the bad….. living in areas where colder weather and have yearly snowfall, the car in front of you or just blowing snow will freeze the charge port door closed and you would have to scrape off snow/ice/dirty slush off it.
