This Radio Detective show ran from 1950 to 1951. The show was based on Rex Stout's character Nero Wolfe. While the characters were based on his writing the stories were not. Sydney Greenstreet stared as Wolfe. His assistant was played by a number of actors including Gerald Mohr.

Mr H. The way you've displayed the chapters below each aired compilation on the main scene IS THE GAME CHANGER. I mean your show IS a gift. Mr H. With all teasing aside, I REALLY DO rely on these nightly. I have no vision in one eye and less in the other. I read for years and loved it. My brother went to school with Timothy Hutton1. He played on Ellery Queen, as the son. 👦 He did a stage play of Nero wolfe. He played Archie. I think he's the cutest. 🐭

Harry Bartel was in many shows. Sherlock, this/Nero Wolfe, and at times, Sam Spade. 📻 I think there were others but I do not remember which. 👨 M. Elgin. Illinois. 🌼

The actor who played the dentist is Howard McNear, a veteran radio actor who played countless character parts, as well as the radio voice of Doc on the radio version of Gunsmoke and the role of Floyd the barber on the Andy Griffith Show on TV.

Your clip said the show ran from 50-1951. I thought it ran 6 years while on radio, which is why they went through so many Archie's. When did it end? 1956? M. Illinois.

The show ran from October 20, 1950, to April 27, 1951. I think the many Archies was just the nature of the radio business they had a pool of actors and sometimes were needed for different shows.

The Archie here is too lecherous and disrespectfull towards every single female under 25. Gets on my nerves. And, as if theres something wrong wth the females if they don't date him. Ugh. But the Nero Wolfe here rules.

Yes! Agreed. His voice is perfect, his enunciation is less than. At least we have rewind, the poor folks in 1951 got only one shot at understanding Nero. Lol
