I'm glad they kept most of the art-design of the original. Hopefully the netcode and servers are good and we'll be able to live the dream of playing AOM online without high ping players turning the game into a slideshow or the stuttering issues that were present in the remaster.

I played Mythology first when I was a kid here in Brazil, my older brother showed me and it blew me away with the graphics and story, futher more It one of the very few games that had a portuguese dub and it was amazing for me as a kid that I could undertand everything that was happening in a game, a little sad that they won't use the same actors or if it will have multiple languages dub but it is very exciting to see my childhood coming back with a new face!

I’m curious about what you meant when you said Freyja was a new goddess? I’m pretty sure she was in the original as one of the early Norse gods, granting Valkyries and I think the Forest Fire god power

There is 'Freyja' which is original and grants Valkyries, and there is 'Freyr' or anglicized 'Frey' , which is associated with peace

I’m very happy with these villager automation innovations. The fun part in RTS games is fighting the battles, the boring part has always been macroing. Not that marco in itself is not interesting and important but it’s not fun to click on every villager and give them a job, it’s just busy work for sweaty players that like to show off their APM portfolio. I much rather have a development plan that’s being auto-executed in the background while I focus on what’s most important.

for the villager priority system, I assume its gonna be similar to the one added to AOE2 xbox release, and just like in that one I dont think its a problem as long as its not good enough to make micro managing villagers obsolete, if it does an OK job, but its still better to just micromanage, its gonna help the casual audience without affeecting the pro scene, wich is how it should be imo

The villager preset function is very useful because it will give you more time to micro you're military units and it helps casual players as well

Played the original when it came out, must have been 10 yrs old. Got me way too interested in Classical Studies, ended up doing my degree in it. Destroyed my employment potential. Damn good game though.

AOM is so timeless that it really doesn't anything crazy for a remaster. Been excited for it since I heard this was coming as I've had AOM installed on every PC I've had since my first time playing it.

The villager priority seems like it will be nice in single player or casual console PvP with friends but in more serious games it might take out some skill expression so I hope they limit it rather substantionally in PvP setting.

I heard the AI isn’t as efficient as higher-micro players, plus they take a sec to process and divvy up labor. Mouse and keyboard will still dominate the competitive scene. Unless the controller can get HW2 or Supreme Commander 2 levels of controller compatibility with unit groups.

Aside from the 4 playable cultures (3 major god factions per culture), the Chinese culture / pantheon has been reassessed, reshuffled (minor god choices), revamped and reworked by actual Ensemble Studios remnants after having seen and tried for themselves the shabby and reviled Skybox Labs version in the Extended Edition. The 6th culture / pantheon is still in development, under NDA and being speculated by AoE/M gamers.

Did you guys notice that a small soldier was able to push that giant. That says a lot about collision in this new game. I been playing aom since early 2000s and am so excited to see all the upgrades and changes they're going to do to bring in new life and new players. It's kind of sad that there's almost no interest in new games so we're resurrecting old games. These companies gotta step it up. It's all about profit margins instead of creating something fun and amazing for a long time.

Unless they give options to turn these changes off in multiplayer lobbies like limit god powers and no auto farming systems then this is just another Age of Empires game. Apparently its someones goal out there to make all modern RTS games Age of Empires 3 and 4 with no variety.

I am also a big fan of AOE and AOM, but I generally don't understand the hype of this new release from others. When AOE2DE came out, they also released new civs and new campaigns. This retold has nothing; only some season passes mention that, which means you need to pay more for those. It seems like the dev team doesn't yet have an idea of how to improve it rather than improving images and soundtracks, which they already did in AOMEE. Besides, the villager thing just sounds so stupid. I swear I saw that kind of control before in previous AOE or other RTS games, and it failed. I bet it will cause many problems and end up being removed from the game.

Am I the only one outraged for the fact they did just a little redo of animation and models, when we have a "REMASTERED" edition where they remastered nothing, just added chinese gods and a wish copy of other units with a chinese skin on, and then this remastered shit it's sold as a "NEW" game, and there are another 25 random euros for the same game. I love AOM, but this economic shit is just microsoft milking us and giveing nothing in return.
