Blender 2.93 has a new Cryptomatte node and it's just amazing. This was a much-needed update.

You can use blender crypomatte in Fusion. There is a question on blender stack exchange answering that. Its a bit messy the cryptomatte workflow. You still need to activate the render passes but then all the additional channels are activated but for the new one its not needed. Might be confusing here.

@@ArtPomelo Thanks. I checked it out. It too much trouble really. But its pretty normal to render out cryptomatte passes separately. I'll try it out and let you know if it works.

How do you apply cryptomatte to instances on points in geo nodes?

Good question. If I have it correct, everything in geometry nodes will be considered as a single object. So in this case, I would recommend making use of Shader AOVs. You can check out how they work here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eKhgapZhmrKWqKc.htmlsi=77jGvn1UUMzGfI16

I also have to take beginners into account. And also explain this is better than the previous method. More importantly, not everyone is fast to grasp things. This is why I take things slow :)
