THE NEW EASTERN CORRIDOR // I LOST THE PCN! - PASIR RIS, BEDOK RESERVOIR AND EAST COAST PARK

The new Eastern Corridor of Park connectors, or PCN's are ready to be explored! Linking Pasir Ris to Bedok Reservoir and then onto East Coast sounds like a lovely journey of 18km's to check out.
With a busy weekend the week before I set off on my own to explore this stretch. After dropping the kids to school I hopped on a bus or two and made my way on the hour journey to Pasir Ris.
After a quick nap on the bus I arrived at the park, the clouds were starting to change to a darker colour and I hoped the breeze I could feel was from the sea rather than impending rain. After spending a good 20 minutes trying to figure out where the new section started I was on my way. Knowing I was against the clock to complete the 18km's before I had to get Aspen from school I had brought my skateboard, and set off.
The first section was pretty simple to navigate once you were actually on it with laminated signs leading the way. All seemed good. For a while.
If you've been following us for any time you'll know my navigation skills are pretty poor, so it was no surprise when I managed to loose the PCN and end up elsewhere and on a hired bike.
Come and find out what happened and why I needed to get a bike to complete the new eastern corridor.

the PCN is quite confusing for someone who is not familiar. I use it quite often. From Tampines West MRT.. if you turn left, you will be at Bedok Reservoir.. the PCN will be quite obvious from there and it's almost all the way PCN. and then! there's construction happening in between again and that's the part where it's easy to get lost. once you manage to navigate the private estate area.. it's pretty straight forward going to East Coast park. I only wish the PCN is more obvious with alot more signages. I'm glad you did a video on this!

More signage is required then perhaps more widely used as cycling routes. The floor signage is very helpful so hopefully more of that can be added with a bit more direction. I feel you can use them to see more of Singapore, especially local areas which I’d love tourists to be able to experience too.

If you go at dusk or after sunset, all the large butterflies such as the ones you walked by are beautifully lighted up. The place is worth a visit when darkness falls due to other surprising lights

Yes i live around Opera Estate. By the way, all the garden parks in the nearby BTOs (eg GreenVerge, GreenRidges, GreenWeave and GreenView) are on the 2nd to 5th levels, some on rooftops. They are all different and connected by bridges. U may find some better than others. Hope you have fun and God Bless.

Lovely video, been there 3 to 4 times as it is quite far from my home. Went there twice and could not spot the resident spotted wood owl. The problem with Singapore is there is always construction everywhere. Just when you think certain areas are done along the park connector, another area of the park connector will start improvement works. LOL.

I saw there a few owls there this week but I also haven't seen any there. I did see a family of hornbills there once which was awesome. I didn't realise how large they actually are. It's great the PCN's are being improved though.

Lovely video - thank you. The Park Connectors look very impressive, and a good initiative for the government to take. A question, if I may: what do you do for insect repellent when you go out into the parks and countryside? I don't have too much trouble, but my wife seems to be a mozzie-magnet. (Or, possibly, we both get bitten and she just reacts much more to the bites than I do.) And we're headed back to Singapore in just over a week...

Hey there, thanks for getting in touch. We don’t tend to use bug spray too much to be honest. If we do we just pick some up From the supermarket or get these patches you can put on your clothes that last longer. Taking antihistamines can help with the itching after you are bitten though! What do you have planned for your trip here?

Then some new-to-us things: Chinatown & Kampong Glam (I've been but my wife hasn't); Sentosa (new to both of us); and maybe the north of the island, Woodlands area - I want to look at Kampung Admiralty, I'm a fan of WOHA; some walks; and one genuinely new things, the Bird Paradise (Jurong BP was still open last time we visited).
