I Was expecting a new engine (V2) but IMO this is not a real upgrade, same good old .28 with a slightly different look. Not fully broken-in yet, footage was pointless as the truck is not shifting, just like almost (correction) all new Savage's videos i have seen...

hey bro! Great motor disassembly video, I also noticed the cooling head is identical to all the OLD FORCE 28 engines, which I never liked to be honest. Anyways, you need to fully close the setscrew tight, and turn out 4 turns. Mine shifts perfectly at that setting, without any disassembly or new parts. Put a video out on it today.

@@TastyBRC thank bro! Yes, it was my first attempt I was honestly surprised it shifted to nice. Anyway the sound of the shift itself isn't anywhere close to as sound and noticeable as the older model, that is something I'm still baffled by. But for sure the 2-speed is hitting..

I like it how Force has spring loaded pin for starter shaft. This saves power from spinning the starter shaft and also minimizes the wear and tear on one-way bearing and to the backplate/starter shaft. Would love to see this on every engine with planned starting from the rear.

I tought this system would be unreliable but i havent had any issues so far with non of my force engines. And you're right, it minimizes the one may bearing wear 👍

Same issue seemed stuck in a gear (not sure which one) so I flipped my clutch around so it was only 1st gear. Drove it around and got used to its performance in 1st gear. Then pulled out clutch and cleaned out the thread of the spring grub screw, it went in a lot more. Bottomed it out then backed out 3.5 turns and it's banging that gear on point 👌👌 Good break down vid man nice one 🤙

This engine has some surprisingly good port work and a pretty nice crankshaft. It’s got a pretty big crank window and some nice cuts to help with airflow

I totally agree, cuts are perfect, everything is nice and smooth just like my 2 other force engines, the only difference between this engine and the force engines is the carb.

Great video! It's a real shame with the 2 speed issues etc with these new Savages. I have already replaced the shifter on mine before running it properly. It did sound like hybrids was slipping in his recent video.

Dude, really nice edit you put together! And yup. Typical new savage problem. So far nobody has got one that shifts out the box. Another guy on KZfaq did 4 full turns out from the bottom on the adjustment screw and got it working. He may have already replaced the clutch, I can’t remember. Same thing for hybrid

With your shift points this what did With my SavageX V2 is take the top off gearbox pull shift gear out and played around with the tension on the spring end up being about 3 and half turns from bottom did that with other SavageX 4.6 and they shift sweet that's the easiest way i found 👍🤞👌🇦🇺💀
@TastyBRC

That is the good setting, between 3.5 and 4 turns but the shifting is much quieter, that is why i changed the clutch holder, now she is shifting strong like the old savage 💪

Tighten the 2nd gear clutch grub screw until it’s starting in 1st gear, then loosen until you get the shift in the high rpms. There’s not really a magic setting as from what i’ve seen all the springs in that clutch seem to be of varying length. Unless it’s just straight up missing or broken spring then yeah no amount of adjusting will help
@TastyBRC
@TastyBRC 2 жыл бұрын
I tried that way! But no matter what i do, she wont shift. Never had this kind of problem with my old save nor my revo.. Even when i fully close the screw tight, i'm not sure if she's running on first or second gear!! plus the clutch sounds like slipping and that doesn't help

I watched that video, thanks 👍(i always watch your videos 👍👍) i started with 3 full turns and went counterclockwise 1/4 by 1/4 she shifted once (i think not really sure) then never shifted again. The set screw seems to be very loose and even when the screw is fully tightened i think she still stuck in second gear !!! I am currently busy taking it apart
@rcbrooks3543
@rcbrooks3543 2 жыл бұрын
@@TastyBRC that's interesting. I wonder what the tension is like. After you take it out I would check before i disassembled it. I wonder if your spring is stuck in compression mode.
@rcbrooks3543
@rcbrooks3543 2 жыл бұрын
@@TastyBRC the way to tell if it's stuck in second is easy. After it's at temp punch it. If it's wheelies then your in 1st and if it's weak off the line, no wheelies and picks up speed with nice top end your stuck in second.

And my screw is also very lose at a good setting. The loctite seems to be all at the top. After it shifted like I wanted just took it out, used a Q tip and put loctite above the grub screw to keep it in place.

Same garbage it always was. Locktite everything. Fix the transmission and yeah, fun. The last brand new one I saw right out of the box had the gear screws for the shifting falling out. When we looked at them, they were stripped. No wonder they don’t shift. $700 for this truck is theft. This is a $400 dollar truck at best. Don’t forget to replace the servos as well. They are garbage to. I always said this truck should come as a kit truck, because you have to rebuild it before your first start anyway 🤷‍♂️ HPI doesn’t give a crap about their products or customers. They should have fixed these problems a long time ago. But hey, they have no problem overcharging and pocketing your money.
