Our new John Taylor model combines a lightweight Nyatoh body with three neodymium pickups and an onboard preamp designed and configured in collaboration with Rupert Neve Designs. Like the limited edition Rio Dream Bass, the JT Signature has also been configured to the Duran Duran bassist’s own personal specifications. “It all started when I was in Toronto about six years ago,” said Taylor. “A friend showed me a Dingwall bass on his phone. I loved how it looked and immediately said to my tech, ‘You’ve got to reach out to these guys!’”

John Taylor never uses 5 strings, so that is a strange signature bass |

The bass he use is a 4 strings but he says in interview that he wanted a 5 strings done too for people that prefer 5 strings :D

@roberts1918 it is not really what happened, look at the video with Sheldon Dingwall and John Taylor. He just made a prototype with 5 strings to be sure it will sound good as it is harder to make a good sounding 5 strings than a 4 strings. Then he says it was only for the prototype and not the JT custom but John was happy if he made both the 4 and 5

If you watch the Rig Rundown he did some years back when he was still using Peaveys he had a five-string on hand for one song.
