I play fretless and double bass. Playing a fretless Fanned Fret bass wouod hurt my head for intonation. Still, very cool for those who can do it.

I own a swamp ash combustion one of Sheldon's earlier units, an absolutely incredible instrument, ultimately flexible sounds for every style imaginable. and of course the unique fan frets. I believe this beautiful fret-less has a Swamp ash body !

Am I crazy or are some of the clips mixed up? Or maybe the eq changed in between? I am surprised of how much present is the low end in the bridge + neck clip compared to just neck clip. By the way, neck + bridge takes it for me, it sounds amazing, and what a crazy slapping line, I have to study a lot still...

@WTHFX3 күн бұрын
Curious what the tone controls were set at. The Neck pickup sounded like Freddie Washington's P-bass on "Sending you Forget Me Nots" and the Neck/Bridge combo sounded a lot more polite in the high-mids than usual for a Dingwall. Is it the character of the Neve pre to be mellower or were the highs rolled off a bit on the tone or compression?
@DingwallGuitars3 күн бұрын
We will ask Phil about the settings, but you are right, the Neve preamp has a totally different character.
@thebassmatrix3 күн бұрын
I had the tone controls completely neutral all the time: bass and treble on +-0 and the passive tone blend full open. Of course using those offers even more varieties 😍😍✌️

This sucks. You’re showing us a BEAD but playing it like an EADG, and you’re using a capo but not utilizing open strings.
