In this video, I review the new Powertec Lat Machine. Over the last 15 years, I’ve had 4 Powertec Lat Tower Options that connect to either the Powertec Power Rack, Powertec Roller Smith, or the Powertec Half Rack. However, this is my first stand-alone lat cable machine.
Lat Machines are a competitive category; however, I think Powertec’s Lat Machine holds its own with high-end features and a reasonable price tag.
Over the course of the video, I’ll highlight the machines many features, compare it to Powertec’s other lat machines, and show plenty of exercises that can be performed on the machine.

I’ve had the older version of this since 2019. You didn’t mention what looks to me like the biggest improvement - the two additional uprights right behind the shroud that are supporting the machine on the front side of the weight stack. The old version amazingly had no support on the front of the stack, other than the shroud itself which is quite flimsy in comparison. As you might imagine the machine as a whole was much less stable and swayed a lot in use. So much so that after I set it up and used it once I immediately figured out a way to make a bracket and bolt it to my basement wall. It’s been rock solid since then but I always mention this whenever anyone asks me about the tower. Glad to see they finally came to their senses and fixed this design flaw. This new version looks just as stable as mine but without needing the wall mount.

Hey, Tim! Good to hear you were able to modify the old design. I tried to touch on the redesign by saying each piece interlocks with the next for added stability, but I definitely should have gone into more detail about the posts behind the shroud.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviewsoh, I will. Already have the powertec multipress with leg and curl attachments and I love it. Powertec don't save on protection and everything came out of the box without a single scratch, and for me it was a sign, straight out of the box, how much they care about their customers. @HomeGymHacksandReviews 7 ай бұрын
Thank you, Brian. The Pulldown and Half Rack is a great combo. It really adds a lot of stability to the rack too. I would like to see longer spotter arms, but I understand the reasoning for the length. With the stand-alone I also appreciate how close I can get it to wall and how tight of a space I can fit it in by having the selectorized stack. This took the place of the Nautilus Torso Arm (I gave it to my dad) and I like this much, much better.

Great video as always! I had to remove the Powertec faceplate on the functional trainer because it’s too narrow to fit my hand to grab the selector pin. I also didn’t like that it’s pushed out far so it’s difficult changing weight when you’re changing at an angle quickly. Since downsizing, are you going to put the funds towards a mini split or other heating? Winter is coming.

I’ve been very happy with it so far. I’ve only found the cable to rub when doing standing face pulls, but that can be fixed simply by kneeling down. @@HomeGymHacksandReviews I unfortunately need to get knee surgery and need to plan my long-term rehab and post rehab strength protocol. Plus old age. So I'm thinking of going to a leverage leg press machine for rehab and long-term safety use. Fettle Fitness seems a good possible solution for that. I have a space issue as well.

Still waiting to see if Powertec comes out with a stand-alone leg curl/extension unit instead of just their accessory unit. Any rumors?

Not that I know of. Are you hoping for a prone leg curl or seated leg curl machine? I’m very happy with the attachment…in fact, I think it’s the best in the leg ext / curl attachment category (when it’s connected to the Levergym, Smith, or Rack).

Absolutely. However, if you buy them both together, it saves you $100 and you won’t need to disassemble the machine.

How does it compare to the ironmaster tower?
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews Ай бұрын
I don’t think it’s a fair comparison because the Ironmaster piece is an attachment and the Powertec is a stand-alone machine. Both are smooth, but Powertec has a higher weight capacity, I believe a higher attachment point, more stable, and the option to add a selectorized stack.

@@NisAznMonk I like what Kaizen does. He’s a good guy and we’ve always supported one another. Another option to consider is my DIY Belt Squat, which I just posted a video for. It may not offer as much stability as Kaizen’s, but it’s always worked well for me.

@@Marine531 thank you so much. I appreciate you, “not beating around the bush” and only saw enthusiasm 🤓 . I have considered it a couple times during the sale Powertec is running. I’m just worried about duplicate pieces and limited space. With the Levergym and new lat pulldown, I just don’t think I would use the pulldown attachment and the 300 pound weight capacity of the LP attachment isn’t high enough for me. However, I definitely see the value in reviewing it for others.

Wow, Powertec should be Very Happy with you. Didn't you say that they pay you nothing? Why do you push a company so hard that offers you ZERO reward or not even a Thank You? They really have sent you nothing? You're the only person on KZfaq that I've seen that is pushing Powertec equipment. Why do you like them so much? Were you using Powertec equipment when you first met your wife or Did you're childhood hero use Powertec, as much as you like this company there has got to be a sentimental reason because their equipment is fine and gets the job done but it's not anything life changing. They are better than Titan but not as good as REP when it comes to quality. I Love your enthusiasm for Powertec, just wondering where it came from.

Hey Bobby! lol! I could write a book about this, but I’ll try to be brief. I am a pretty loyal person and when I find something I like and something that works, I stick with it. I got my first Powertec Power Rack and Multipress over 15 years ago and immediately fell in love with the brand. I’ve had equipment in my gym from BodyMasters to Rogue, to Titan and I’ve worked in multiple commercial gyms. I think for the price, Powertec’s quality holds its own. Powertec has sent me some equipment and I include the “paid promotion” watermark in those videos and / or they will discount stuff for me (but many times, I just buy stuff when it’s on sale). Also, I am a Powertec affiliate, so if someone uses my affiliate link, I make a small commission. The President of the company has reached out multiple times and I think I have a pretty good relationship with him and other members of the organization.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Very Cool Powertec's stuff is high quality and nice equipment. Glad that see Yall are friends, Just looking from the outside, it seems that Powertec would be sending you all free stuff as you, to my knowledge, are the only influencer that Praises or even uses their equipment. None of my business though, and Powertec seems to be a good company, I was just curious if they brought back some nice memories or basically why you picked Powertec to back. I have things that I use because it brings back fun times, ex. my dumbbells and iron plates. Thnkx for your response Take Care
