i hope everyone knows that the padding on the inside freezes. When it gets cold that padding gets super hard and you can't put the helmet on. It took my friend 3 guys to get the damn helmet on bc it was cold, and then it takes like 25 mins to thaw. It's a great helmet, it just freezes. And it hurts. The SpeedFlex never did that.

Speedflex also relies on foam and air bladders which would yield similar results. Axiom is custom molded but both rely on the Same system, only changes for the Diamond. But I may be off on this

That's actually true and the speed flex does the same thing I had one for this season and I would leave it in the car and it would get all hard all I did was putt it on and it would hurt so bad lol but forshure will use the axion next season pretty excited I'll just wrap it in a towel and leave it in the bag so it won't get cold and get hard lol

With helmet safety increasing so much over the last three years, it blows my mind how many concussions are happening, like maybe the helmets with all the cool technology and non-strong outer shell that flexes is part of the problem.

It’s the same concept as how players have never practiced less during the season, but have never been hurt more. Your body needs that conditioning and physicality to an extent. Same with helmets you gotta get some hits in to prepare your body for it in a game.

I work in a D1 equipment room and the padding in this helmet gets ROCK hard in the cold. Like dangerously hard. It’s made of open pore foam so I’d avoid this if you live in cold environments

I'm sure they've been tested and work as described. However, as a layman, it seems like those panels that flex inward would cause the head to be hit by a more acute impact point rather than spreading the hit to the entire helmet.

I got to take a tour of the manufacturer that makes these custom molded pads. it's a pretty cool process. They had a warehouse full of boxes of molds of guys that had custom pads built. I was told one of the craziest custom pads they did was for a NFL customer that was in an accident and had a giant dent in his head and the mold filled that it was pretty cool.

Concussion are unfortunately apart of the game and forever will be no matter how high tech they make these new helmets the only way to get rid of concussion’s is to eliminate contact from the sport completely which is also apart of the sport to. American football is dead long gone the days of real American football these helmets are getting more and more ridiculous as time goes on and continues to make the sport more unbearable to watch let alone enjoy and with the recent Damar Hamlin injury it put the final nail in the coffin for the nfl and football as a whole it’s over. Ruby and hockey will be its replacement for me

They’re finding out it is as much the head being whipped around by any hard direct impact. A hit to the chest can cause brutal whiplash damaging the brain. Nothing to do with the helmet.

They should pursue designing a disposable break-away type helmet. One that can withstand small impacts, but break apart on huge impacts to negate the force as much as possible. Ya feel? A guy who gets helmet on helmeted would have his helmet be rendered unusable. It wouldn't shatter into a bunch of pieces, but it would be wrecked. Make em as inexpensive as possible and intended for temporary use.

@@mr.sinister1279 Wow some social skills you have mr.sinister 🤣🤣🤣 Conventional helmets are designed to withstand a great deal of damage in their lifetime, my helmet would be designed to withstand minor blows, but handle major blows really well. You would require sets of them, and facemasks would need to be easily transferable. It's just brainstorming... it's supposed to be fun. What about sliding plates that can be snapped back into place after a major impact? See?... it's just ideas. No need to be a degenerate.

Also I’d you don’t have a visor. A face mask of another helmet can fit inside the space. It can hit you in the face and break your nose or anything like that. So make sure to wear it with a visor

Definitive helmet answer. Original leather helmets no face masks latest high-tech custom fitted headliners. That will eliminate head tackles at the worst case they'll be tried one time. IMO

Unfortunately the more advanced these helmets get, the more dangerous hits get. Players get a false sense of protection because they’re “safer” thus hitting harder.

Unless a helmet can weight like 1 pound or less also, it'll never be perfect. When players fall, especially to their back, they always hit the ground with a whip effect. Look at Tua, he's not getting clobbered by players, it's the ground. It's hard to support/control a heavy head when falling 🤷♂️
