In November 2023, a woman's car started on fire. The inside of the car burned but a Stanley mug with a cold beverage survived and there was even ice still in the cup. Stanley company bought her a new and a new Stanley cup. They will be using this incident as a selling point for people to buy their Stamley mugs, etc.

The product seems great but it's marketed as a life long purchase and yet these ladies are buying like 20 for 30 dollars a pop or more. I just cannot get behind that weird fandom style consumerism. It's the same as dudes and Nike shoes. I am supposed to be impressed buy you're buying shoes and never wearing them.

The sneaker sect already has division themselves. Like those who keep things “deadstock” (unworn) vs those who wear everything they have. And there are outliers who do both, only want to resell, or have multiple pairs they can wear years down the line. These girls get dozens of cups to just go with their mood which I find pretty funny. And I’m sure some just have them. There are levels to everything. I just let everyone have their thing.

Currently drinking water out of my 12 year old water bottle that I have had since college (uk). Been on dozens of hikes and fields trips, dented shit, paint scratched off. Still performs the task of transporting water to my mouth

I never understood how certain brands like this get the marketing rub. I've had my zojirushi for 10 years and it does the same thing. There are dozens of brands that make the same cup.

I'm male and even I get the Stanley hype. Double insulated mugs that keep hot beverages hot for hours, and cold beverages cold for over a day. Yeah, they are a bit pricy, but they are worth the cost.
