H&S actually put out a video where they strictly advise against stripping down your airbrush the moment you first take it out of the box. Reason being they do a lot of quality assurance and testing at the factory, thus the airbrush is in its "ideal state". They urge you to just use it straight away to see what it's supposed to feel like, which I think is good advice for beginners.

That sound at 6:31 to 6:37 really made me perceive the quality of this airbrush. Sometimes you can just hear that there are solid, high quality materials and pieces that are made to fit together.

i got this brush about 3 months ago after using Gaahleri airbrushes for a while and its been like going from a volkswagon to a Ferrari. Its truly changed the quality of my work. Simply an amazing tool.

As someone who does motorcycle and lowrider style graphics.I will pick one up just for the repeatability of the number settings being the same everytime.

Interesting video Rob, you can see from the video that this is a quality brush I like the trigger lock and the adjustable trigger stop something that is very handy for the beginner and the price is very reasonable for what you get.

Thanks for a really helpful tutorial. I have just bought one of these, but not yet used it. Really a case of not having enough confidence as a beginner. I have an Infinity, but have struggled a bit with getting the right paint consistency and achieving the memory muscle to be comfortable working with it. On the Infinity I also found your video on the trigger lag very interesting too.I have had problems with the adjuster on the back. Having taken the Infinity to bits for cleaning I have not been able to get the adjuster to work properly. Maybe I’m a bit thick.I am still going to try your fix, but then I saw the new Ultra and couldn’t resist. I paint model vehicles for wargames and I’m sure the Ultra will teach me what I need to know along with your videos. Looking forward to seeing more and have subbed. Another informative review Dred. I've pre ordered the Squidmar version and this has really got me looking forward to it even more than I already had been. I'm new to airbrushing this year as I return to model making after nearly 40 years. I've found a new money pit in that I've already bought 7 airbrushes to date. 3 Harder and Steenbeck (Infinity CR plus, Evolution AL plus), 1 Iwata (Eclipse with 2 more more in mind for the future) 3 Gaahleri (plus their Supreme model when it's released) seeing this I may well have bought a good few less. It seems to me, as a newbie admittedly , it seems to be a great time for high performing but value priced airbrushes.

Great review as always - Ill not mention the strip down arguments😅😅😮 Looks like a nice big trigger top/button. Have they got rid of the slack (when applying paint) issue present on other H&S ABs? Eg immediate take up with paint delivery 🤔🤞🤞 From your initial assessment and response to the Ultra seems as though this would be the perfect first AB for the railway modeller, first time airbrusher, but also perhaps the only airbrush some modellers would ever need, especially with a few needle, nozzle, aircap options added in🤔 The push in paint cup makes for easier clean up, shame that the paint cup side things isn't compatible with others in the range.

Thank you for the great review. I got a chance to use this to teach my son in law and I must say it is a great beginners brush, but I have some issues. 1. No removable crown cap. The head is one piece, so you need an H&S plastic cap to do blowback. I, for one, prefer crown removal so I can pinch the needle and do the blowback. 2. The trigger response is great, but for me, the trigger feel is too stiff. I think for a beginner, that is great, but if you're used to softer trigger feel this will not be for you. I still think it is a great brush but I would not recommend that for experience users, go with the newer Evolution 2024. I plan on getting one in the near future.

Nice review. The ring limiting the trigger motion looks as the perfect design for beginners (and probably cheeper to manufacture than the nice Quick Fix, while being more undertanble for begginers), and a nice brush for everyone not only the beginners. The trigger top look to be a very nice design. The trigger mechanism looks different than other H&S airbrushes, at a glance it looks like it won't be the same as the flawed trigger design of the Evolution / Infinity. At least I hope H&S finally did something to adress this only but horrible flaw of their airbrushes. When I first seen videos criticising H&S triggers, I just did'nt believe it because I only had an Ultra (the previous one) and the trigger was so ggod that I could just not believe that higher end H&S triggers could be so much worse... until I got my first Evolution and custom H&S brushes... The previous Ultra trigger did'nt have any design flaws and did'nt need your "fix" (it is so good, that I bought spare Ultra triggers to uses as my fix and replace my horrible Evolution / Infinity trigger). In one of your videos, you showed how to change your Infinity trigger top... I tried to do the same and I broke one trigger... This new Ultra trigger top looks very nice and the kind I would not whant to change. It also looks like this time, they did a chrome finish in sted of the nickel one, but on video it is hard to tell the difference...

My Ultra 2024 arrived a week ago and I just painted up my first minis. I’m not sure if I am in the minority here, but I was really disappointed. I have been airbrushing for about 3-4 years (mainly just zenithal priming) with a Badger Patriot 105. The badger has been a great tool for priming, but I am wanting to get into basing and highlighting with the airbrush and was excited for this new Ultra 2024. Main disappointment has been clogging. It has been so bad I was sure they sent the wrong needle / nozzle combo. I have run stynelrez primer and white ink through a 190 micron straining funnel and with both of these the Ultra 2024 clogged up, almost immediately with the primer and after 30 seconds or so with the white ink. I have never had to thin my primer or ink when using the badger, but had really bad clogging with the Ultra. I think, not sure, but I think it is due to the setting collar (prime, base, and 3 highlight settings). Even on prime, the furthest setting, the trigger can’t go back far enough. The tip of the needle is still sticking out of the nozzle so there is a tiny gap for paint to flow through. Also, the nozzle hole is about 1/3 the size of the badger patriot, despite the badger being a .5 and the Ultra 2024 a .45. I haven’t tried it on the wide open setting, but plan to do that later this week and will provide an update. Curious if others have experience similar results.

Hi, How do you prepare the paint before putting it into the airbrush cup ?? do you just open the paint bottle and pour it into the cup ? or must you mix the paint with some form of other liquids, mix and then pour it into the cup ?? Thank you

I have an Infinity, can you tell me if the parts that connect the trigger to the needle are interchangeable with the Ultra 2024. So that I can eliminate the old trigger disease. That is, to swap the rear part in the old Infinity with the Ultra 2024.

I already ordered one of the special edition ones. I have a few questions maybe you can help with especially if you are going to be making some more videos on this product. Can you replace the cap and use different style caps without changing the nozzle and needle? for example the crown cap. How would you blowback into the cup? I use that regularly to clean and mix paints. How well does it work without the cup in for small amounts of paint in it? Tacos or hamburgers? Does the harder and steenbeck fine pressure control I believe it is called work with this model? it's their air pressure control knob for their models.

How is the trigger feeling? I remember you did a video regarding the issue on the CRInfinity trigger which has play and lag before engaging. Is it the same on this??

Does this new brush require the teflon washer hack to get better trigger response like the infinity or did H&S finally address this issue?

I normally watch all your videos, but it is hard to get thru tbe first five min of this one. Harder & Steenbeck just came out with a video, literally hours ago, saying that a beginner should not strip a brush apart when they get it. They send you a brush, and then you say to take it apart. Just like not taking a toaster apart. Lol
