What you say about the rooms makes a lot of sense. They (could) have data from literally millions of rooms. So they could train a model that knew rooms and could guess very accurately what each type of object was in the environment. Or at least give a nearly perfect default.

I don’t have a problem with games being 30$+, but rather that they don’t live up to their price. Having a subscription for a load of games sounds like a better concept at this point

I have my doubts about hand tracking, there's only so much you can do with gestures, and especially for moving around you need the joysticks. The subscription service makes sense though, the success of gamepass is undeniable.

I am also very interested in what the future will bring in VR and AI. I mean that for those technologies separately. The concept of integrating them excites me to no end. I think the only limit there is our creativity in how and what to do with the merger. I plan to buy the Quest 3 when I can but was, and really still am, a bit apprehensive regarding the tracking of it's controllers. Especially given early reports of worse tracking than with the Quest 2 controllers. I mostly use my VR sets for fitness and thus mostly fast paced games like, for example, Beat Saber and Thrill of the Fight, so good tracking is essential. Because of that I was planning on buying the Quest Pro controllers first but maybe I will hold off on that until after Quest 3 is released and wait for reviews of the actual release version, I'm guessing including yours @Naysy, before deciding what to buy first. On the other hand (pun intended) I can't say I'm optimistic about hand tracking really becoming useful, let alone as "The" control method. Especially not for fast paced games nor productivity tasks that really on fine movement. Not without any accessories like VR gloves or possibly external camera tracking. I don't think it's possible to escape occlusion problems or accurately track fast movement using only headset cameras for hand tracking. But if proven wrong I'll happily accept being so.

Honestly, I feel like Meta and Sony are going to control VR gaming for the foreseeable future, sort of like how Microsoft and Sony control console gaming. Even if Nintendo gets involved, they’ll just do their own thing with their IPs. There just aren’t many companies that can compete with the resources and R&D teams for Meta and Sony.

"blob people" There is so much potential in V.r. to improve all aspects of humanity, in a serious and meaningful way !! how come all the early VR adopters look pretty happy and fit and don't weigh 300 pounds? the more kids playing gorilla tag, the less kids running into traffic and trouble. When I was a kid there were so many times when something bad went down and I was pulling a Mario/ ninja Gaiden all nighter I am sure Video games saved my life!

I half agree with Dorsey's opinion regarding the social aspect, or lack thereof, of VR. The risk of further social distancing as more people adopt VR technology into their lives certainly exists. But then again that same risk has accompanied computer technology in general for years. On the other hand that same technology has greatly increased the potential for other types of socializing than meeting in the flesh. However I wholeheartedly disagree with the notion that VR technology will lead to more obesity. I realize it's anecdotal but speaking as someone who has lost over 30 kg (about 70 lbs) by basically playing video games I believe VR will become an important tool in fighting obesity. I am aware that it sounds like hyperbole but I'm leaning towards claiming that using VR for fitness has saved my life, at least in the long run. I have never, in my adult life, been able to stick to any kind of a fitness or exercise routine until now. Today I usually start feeling anxious and low if I'm not able to get/fit in a physically active VR session for more than a couple of days.

I see it being more Ready player one. I mean if you can go full into VR and do anything anything. People are not gonna wanna live their real lives. I mean people can already sit on the couch and watch tv all day.....I mean I guess if we have some way of not having to work then that could become an option.

Do I think Jack is right about $thing? No.

VR headsets are way too uncomfortable to stay in for more than an hour or 2. I don't see us becoming blob people any time soon due to VR. TV is still a much bigger creator of blob people.

Kind of dissappinted in VR for the past year or so.. Haven't played a lot of great games. Most of them felt like mini games arcade type. None as good as RE4 and HLA.
