Really? James Bond is based on a white English character from the books. Also, he’s supposed to be an international agent, where he won’t stand out too much. I’m pretty sure a tall black dude will stand out in many parts of the world, where he’s supposed to be some sort of spy/agent, being able to blend in or charm his way into different countries, cultures etc. It’s more fitting and realistic, for him to be white and will also appeal to an international audience. It’s not always about American acceptance but what brings in money worldwide. I can’t see people in Western Asia, Middle East, China, India and the East in general, crying out for a black Bond. The rest of the world, is NOT woke like America. If it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it!

Also the whole “tall black guy would stand out” thing doesn’t really make sense it completely depends on where you are, Europe has tons of black people and Bond goes all over the world I don’t think a black person stand out on average more than a white person when referring to the whole globe lol

Haha, this is my take almost exactly. I love Michael Knowles, but he's a superficial Bond fan at best. So much goes into choosing the right actor to play Bond that most people forget or don't know the historical precedent for. Here are two: age & familiarity. 1) Age: Many of the choices on this list and others commenters have suggested can be ruled out for simply being too old. Broccoli herself has already stated she's looking for someone in his early to mid 30s. This quickly rules out Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, and even Henry Cavill. Even after a new actor has signed on, they still have to produce the first film and that's years in the making. Plus they'll want to make at least four films with whomever they choose. Daniel Craig was officially Bond for over 15 years, the most successive years any actor had claim to the role, and he made five films. For comparison, Connery was Bond for nine (not successive) years and six films, Roger Moore 12 years and seven films, and Brosnan seven years and four films. 2) Familiarity: This actor can't have a fierce following as another iconic character in film already. Traditionally, they cast a relatively unknown actor as Bond so people don't associate his face with one of his past roles. This rules out Cavill and Hardy. Based on this, my pick would be Aaron Taylor-Johnson with Regé-Jean Page coming in second.

Ridiculous idea! A secret agent has to be able to slide under the radar and inconspicuous. A tall, black bloke would attract attention everywhere he went. The propensity for lateness wouldn't be a bonus either - MI5 aren't big on people being late.
