I think Teddy slightly underplays the Brand Value of TAG Heuer in relation to motorsport in particular. If you're into motorsport, then TAG Heuer's associations with Formula 1 and Le Mans in particular are absolutely iconic and give it a massive prestige edge over other watches in that market segment. For me, as a petrolhead who's favourite film was "Le Mans" as kid, with the Steve McQueen connections, the Monaco was absolutely my Grail watch - bar none - and I'm thrilled to own one. I guess that's going to be specific to a certain segment of watch buyers, but a lot of people who are into watches like engineering, and therefore are also into cars and motorsport. If you have an interest in both then TAG Heuer is an absolute obvious choice.

Right on. I own a Monaco because it’s connection to Steve McQueen, because Steve was a Marine like me, and TAGs were gifted to me by my wife over a 22 year Marine Corps career. I got a TAG when I got promoted in Rank. From 1st Lieutenant to Lieutenant Colonel

The question is whether they are living on their past or pushing ahead. Car-wise, I am "stuck" in the past with 917's , 512M's, and so so much history. Remember the analog drum computers used in rallying? Still, TAG IS forever linked to motorsports just as Omega with Bond and Apollo. So be it and enjoy.

I’ve had a Tag aqua racer for 25 years… Have worn it every day. I’ve serviced it 3 times in that period. It works perfectly and is still in immaculate condition. It’s still sparkling like the first day I took it out of the box. I’ll hand it down to my boy when he turns 18 next year and I will be replacing it with the new version. 🎉

You said it perfectly: "these things are not needed". It's important to understand that the focus on the ultimate high end in price/performance comes from an obsession and not from realistic day-to-day requirements. It really all just depends on what the individual prioritizes as a watch enthusiast.

Watches should suit your personal tastes. I have a TAG Heuer Carrera stainless with a kinetic (automatic) movement exposed with a sapphire back. It is a marvel to look at the technical wonder of the movement--more watches should offer this! The durable materials, heirloom construction, waste-free mechanical design (no batteries), and understated elegance fit my personality perfectly. I absolutely love it. I also understand why someone would choose a watch for fashion, precious materials, branding, etc. To each their own; watch selection is purely subjective once prices start getting lofty.

Tag Heuer was my first luxury watch. I bought it in the early 1980s (yes I'm older than dirt) and I loved it. The watch was a Formula 1 two tone with a black face and bezel with gold highlights, beautiful. In the intervening years Tag fell off my personal radar not that I think there is anything wrong with them but other brands have caught my eye and watch dollars.

My favorite two watches are a Steeldive automatic and the Casio Duro (with steel bracelet). The Steeldive was $130 and I spent $50 on two other bracelets. It’s very accurate. But if you’re looking for accuracy, the Casio is always on the exact second. Every daylight savings round it’s maybe off by two seconds. My favorite boots are the Johnston and Murphy Italian - specifically the 27-1836 which I don’t think they even make anymore.

On the subject of $500 v $5000, spot-on feedback: I have both, and the 70hr vs. ~40hr makes a difference when you come back from a weekend and have to set it all over again, as well as realizing you’re late for a meeting because the $500 lost over 2 minutes cumulatively over a week. My $500 is now just the weekend watch and it’s COSC/Metas or nothing for my daily wearer.

But as you said the price range TAG is in today is utlra competitive and there are a TON of other options to go with. Pure class as always Teddy. Personally, I love seeing someone wearing a Longines, Tag, or an Oris than someone wearing a Rolex. I remember that Adrien was defining “Luxury” in a video months ago and said Omega wasn’t luxury and Rolex was because they’re harder to get. But I see more people out in the wild wearing Rolex than any other brand. They’re also obviously selling more watches than any other brand so maybe they aren’t as hard to get as we’d like to say. I was offered a Sub from my AD a few months ago and I turned it down.

have a small doubt are there any watches which complete the rotation of minute hand around dail in 45 min ,30 min instead of hour ,are there any watches with settings, digital or analog in which we can make it run as we wish (make it fast or slow(ex per say completing rotation in 39 min or 87 min instead of 60 min)))

Hi Teddy, Thanks for keeping us all informed. I have a short question for you. Out of these ones, which watch would have the most oomph and best finishing: 1) Rado Captian Cook. 2) Oris Divers 65 3) Christopher Ward C65 4) Mido Ocean Star Thanks for your time, in advance. Sam (Australia).

My first and only expenive watch is a Omega SMP300. I think it will stay my only expensive watch in my collection. On a daily base i use my G Shocks, Casios, Seikos and my PRX.

My vote for next Rolex is the Breightling Premier line. The Pistachio B09, the Copper Datora, and Blue Duograph are just stunningly beautiful and feel like incredible high quality watches. Visited a boutique with Breightling/Omega side by side. The Omega Chrono start/stop at 3:00 felt like breaking a chicken leg. The Breightling Chrono movements felt like butter. The Breightling Premier movement innovation at the price point is nothing short of amazing. With Breightling pulling back the number of retail stores should also increase the feel of exclusivity over time. My only hesitation of buying a Breightling Premier new is the haircut you take today in the secondary market. But hopefully in the long term these watches get discovered for the masterpieces they really are.

Teddy, any thoughts on the PT5000 movement? I have a beater Cronos with said movement and it only loses about 5-10 seconds/day. The PT5000 was the first Chinese movement to be certified by Landschutte (sp) Observatory as being certified chronometer. Again, thoughts?

My Tag Heuer series 1000 which I purchased in 1991 is still working beautifully. It may be a quartz but the only money I’ve spent on this watch was the initial $450 plus battery changes every four or so years, pressure checks, replacement gaskets and maybe four or five routine servicings. Watch snobs be damned; this was one of the hottest watches of the 1980s and early 1990s. Unfortunately, Tag Heuer discontinued the 1000 late in 1992 and rolled out the series 1500 which didn’t exactly set the holographic world on fire. Yes, the 1000 was a Rolex Submariner homage but with a Jubilee bracelet. Classic!

I have always liked watches and it wasn't until I was researching Tissot and Christopher Ward as companies to purchase a watch for my brothers wedding gift , that I realized there was a watch community! I think Teddy was one of the first ones that came up, and then I saw Watchfinder, and was watching that Irish guy for awhile (he's really funny when hes discussing God Tier watches!) All of this was last year and now I have seen so many people who do reviews but I have been able to learn so MUCH in regards to watches. I am glad that more people have begun to make videos as now I am more informed and can make better purchases. I decided to buy my brother the Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80. White dial and Leather strap was too beautiful to pass up! He really enjoys it and now that he has an Automatic, I need to dive in and buy myself one. Teddy discussed the MIDO Oceanstar GMT on his channel once and I have decided that will be my first!

I purchased a new Tag Heuer Professional 200 meters in 1993 (980.613B). I saw it on the wrist of an employee at an audit client and asked him about it. I purchased the same model shortly thereafter for $300. I had Tag perform a complete service on the watch last year including replacing the crystal for another $300. It's my only wristwatch and I have had no problems. The new 300 meter Tags are around $2,000 which is too high for my pocketbook.

As always a great video. Yours right, I think most watch collectors have other addictions,. Shoes, clothes, guitars...whatever. in my case it's clothes and sunglasses. I do stay in my lane and I don't buy too many sunglasses though. If I did it cut into my watch budget...lol.

I have not had very good luck with Tag Heuer time pieces. The first one flat out stopped working after about a week. They were awesome and actually just exchanged it for a new one. Over time I noticed if I set the time, after about 4 days it was about 3-4 minutes behind. And that was wearing it 14 hours a day. After that, I would never buy another one. At that price point there are other watches that are much better quality. Today's Tag Heuer watches do not compare to vintage Heuer watches. Now that was a great time piece!

Great video Mr. Baldassarre. I very much enjoyed the $500 to $5000 watch segment. I have a few different Swiss watches ranging from $600- up to $5000. I am no watch expert, but in my 50 plus years on this planet I have learned that things usually cost more for a reason. As in some other products (that I am more familiar with) I have found as the price goes up the gap gets smaller. Meaning if you buy a $200 watch and compare that to a $5000 watch the gap is going to be huge in terms of fit finish, movements, crystal vs glass, actual gold parts etc. Comparing that $5000 to a $3000 watch the gap becomes very small. I tell this to sportsman or birdwatchers looking into optics a $50 binocular to a $2500 binocular is going to be drastic in terms of light gathering, crisp image, build quality ect. $1000 to $2500 not much of a difference, still better quality perhaps better warranties. My advice is always save for something a bit longer and buy the best that you can afford.

Also applicable to footwear as Teddy indicated. A good pair of pricey boots (which are repairable) will last a lifetime vs the multiple pairs of cheap boots and shoes you will buy and dispose of in the landfill. Same goes for sheets, pillows and mattresses- something you spend a third of your life using

The value of the product relative to the return on investment is something you should take into account; diminishing returns are important. Buy something that approaches the upper limit of diminishing returns until the cliff falls off to incremental improvements that vary much more starkly with cost. When you enter the luxury watch price range, it's 100% an aesthetic choice, especially in the era of dive computers and modern mountain altimeter digital watches. I think that the luxury market clouds things to an extent, and that's disappointing.
