Wrong, Earnie Shavers pushed Ali back as well with pure raw strength and Ali credited him as well as many other HoF’s for hitting THE hardest and many say none come close

I was debating that he said he’d rather be hit by Foreman and not Liston, Ali around the time he was Cassius Clay didn’t want to take a hit by NO ONE. Not just because it was Sonny & also at the fact Ali at the time he fought Foreman was already experiencing the beginning stages of Parkinson’s so the “rope a dope” was the only tactic he COULD use at the time because around the time there were only 3 REALLY BIG HITTERS. Which is why I brought up Earnie Shavers. Ali, Foreman, Lyle (who knocked him out), Berbrick and everyone who knows boxing has stated Earnie was the greatest puncher and arguably the hardest hitter in history. Liston was a snug puncher because of the size of his fists. The biggest hands in boxing history with a crazy reach (one of the longest in boxing history). I’m sure if Ali did the rope a dope around the time he did it w/Foreman as the same w/Liston he would’ve still said Foreman hit the hardest. And Ali (Clay at the time) took some of Liston’s biggest 1-2 and ate it just dished it back. Foreman never landed a clean 1-2 because Ali’s defense was high and tight. He tired them both out but differently. He tired Liston out with his lateral movement and his feints and head movement. He tired out Foreman by letting him punch himself out and caught most of his punches on the biceps and forearms

@@isaacm.2377but Foreman didn’t want to fight Shavers, even though they were both contenders at the same time and both fought most of the same people in the 70s, Liston was a power puncher yea but he never really fought anyone around the same size and weight as him. Everyone he fought in the real officially was damn near smaller, some taller but none weighed more. Weight is a big advantage in a fight, especially if your opponent has the hand size of a melon 😭

I think that's something that doesn't get mentioned a lot is how tough and durable Foreman was along with being a destroyer. He took some serious shots from some heavy hitters.

foreman's weakness is fatigue

Ali didn't knock George out. Foreman was never unconscious. Technically it was a KO on paper but the eye test does not lie. Watch it. George raises his head and looks for the count from his corner but they were late. That's why he immediately fired all of them.

Although Ali when younger could indeed box by this era he was simply a parody of his former self. The absolute best boxers in the sport were in its golden years of early 20th century to the 50’s. Guys like Harry Greb who fought an amazing 299 times vs. Ali who fought a paltry 61 times!!! Then there’s Gene Tunney . At this time the competition was stiffer and guys like this fought several times a month so times against the same opponents. Joe Louis another great held the title longer than any boxer you could mention 1937-1949! Rocky Marciano went undefeated in his career. And Ali wants to proclaim himself the greatest it’s a total farce
