I have a really hard time seeing how this would shorten the game, or make it more simple. I hounestly think this a do-over. But thank you for all the hard work you guys put in. This has obv. taken some time to come up with. The Old system is fine though - no need to change it

The changes looks good. Although Veil ripple seems inherently tedious. It feels like just the first part should be kept, where the caster loses 1D6-1HP, and the rest altered or just removed. It's always annoying to add markers beneath units, as well as the extra scorekeeping.

@@christofferadolfsson8217 we wanted to leave it in the public test to see how it plays. This is about gathering feedback from a wider audience than internal playtesting allows.

Interesting changes. I did like the veil token mechanic so hopefully armies which could use them to boost their gameplay still can do it in some form.

That was in some parts quite confusing. Can you clarify when you need to roll for dice? For every dice that you got from adepts and masters there is a 50% chance that you dont get them and 1/6 that your opponent gets a dice? I dont know, this feels unceccesary random and frustrating. There will be the time where you should get 3 dice and roll two ones and a three. Does that mean you play 5 vs 7 dice as the active player? I think the active player should always have more dice than his opponent. Magic can (and should) turn a game, but this feels quite random to me. Nothing more frustrating than investing points in something and then loosing it on a roll of 4+- I also feel the miscasts are quite complex. Having to remember what spell you get for free in the next round is weird (for both players) or having a marker that moves around on the board aswell. I like that blowing up a mage is no longer a thing. I feel like the current magic phase was perfect, I would not know what I was missing there. I dont feel like this iteration makes the game faster or better. It feels to be way more random and has a lot of potential to be frustrating as hell (see example earlier)

Interesting changes but I don’t get how they would shorten the magic phase. More dice means more spells to cast so one would expect for it all to take longer not shorter. What am I not seeing here?
@the9thage
@the9thage Ай бұрын
@@klaudel606 this change wasn’t about speed. That has remained essentially constant between 2.0 and 3.0 What this does though is allow the game to scale better at different points values - which was another key guidelines requirement for 3rd edition.

Can we miscast with bound spell 2 dices ? Is , D6+d3 roll With 1+2 a miscast ?

Small clarification needed. For "Magic Excess" For example, if you pull a 5 dices card, as long as your dice stored on casters + canalised dices don't excess 5, you don't need to roll to see if you keep, discard or give your opponent the dices ? Meaning 5 additionnals dices, no rolls, 6 or + additionnal dices, roll for the 6th, 7th, 8th, ... Is that correct ?

Will get more clear with the fully released magic rules but the result will be kinda similiar to what you calculated.

Have to say, I think anything that gives a wild result on a roll of 1 is a terrible idea and a really silly mechanic. I mean the "If you roll a 1, your opponent gets the dice". Dice values don't appear evenly across one player's games, so some poor bugger is likely to experience multiple lost dice.

So, bound spells still cannot be miscast, but can be failed to cast?
@timotheurvoy
@timotheurvoy Ай бұрын
From what I've understood bound spells are now normal spells with lower casting value and you roll with 1d6 for the first dice + 1d3 for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th dices you will add. Meaning you can fail the casting.

Is Fizzle rule still present (retrieving 1s when the casting or dispel roll failed, excluding the case where the spell was successfully cast and dispelled) ?
