I am a Pasadena native and attend the parade each year. Let me tell you, when Norfolk State marched down Colorado Blvd...NO OTHER BANDS COULD COMPARE! That sound, the ladies, the flags; it was amazing!! Y'all showed up and showed out! Way to represent our HBCUs. The Rose Parade needs at least 5 HBCU bands in the parade every year.

@SuperFaith50 I agree they are one of the best bands in the hbcu world. Perhaps you California's could petition for more hbcu bands to be included in the parade. It would certainly make for a more exciting experience.

All I have to say is wow 5.5 miles of marching and playing and not taking a break. Shows you how discipline and how in shape these kids are in is incredible. I seen High School bands marching less than 2 miles and they were falling out. Great job Spartan Legion, you made us all proud of you.

Man!!!!! Norfolk State University represented to the fullest!!!! That sound is so clean!!! Yall showed up and showed out playing Rock With You!!! The arrangements for every song are masterful. We here so many bands blasting their horns but Norfolk shows that playing with a clean sound and musicianship has excellent results.

Man, this is SO GREAT!!! So proud of NSU's Spartan band! Kev you really captured the swag, energy, precision, enthusiasm and musicianship of these talented students. Thank you! I marched with the Morris Brown College Wolverine band in the 1969-1970 Rose Bowl parade and only wished we had similar coverage.

Excellent performance and the band was just amazing. The beautiful girls just giving to that audience with a restful and genuine spirit made this year seem brighter. They made Virginia proud. Pasadena, do California proud and take some of those structures down so the sun can shine through more brightly.

Saw them @ BANDFEST and the show was great with plenty of GOLD n GREEN energy. I was hoping to see that high stepping energy when you guys past me @ PCC but its understandable as it is a very long march. My daughter who marched with PCC Honor Band was sore by end of the march. Congrats again for marching in Tournament of Roses and your first female drum major.

I've graduated from an HBCU school over 100 years ago and I love watching college students march and play their instruments with so much happiness, Spartans band members be proud of yourself, and I know it was a nice long march. When it's all over and you see yourself in the mirror, tell yourself, I achieved a lifetime of good memories.. enjoy, please graduate and be blessed. This drum line has no peers!! Love the way the rhythm of the cadence changes after each song. What other band does that?! You will hear the repetition of tippity--tappity-tip-tap-tip.
