:-) They do catch the wind really easily. Unfortunately, despite looking ages for it (until it was starting to get dark) I never did find my jacket. When the wind blew it away it looked like a black plastic bin bag and I think it must have been blown hundreds of metres from where I was standing. I did however get a new one but was a little disheartened coming off that mountain knowing that it was up there somewhere!Just a question, if I may. How do you find the fit? I'm a similar height to you and have the jacket in large. I am really slim and I do notice that on windier days I have quite a bit of excess material at the back which tends to flap about quite a lot (this is with it zipped up). Do you find this as well? A fellow walker told me that I should go for a size small and even said that I wouldn't have lost my first jacket if it hadn't been so large?!

@@Stormywinds Thats a real shame, but at least you have a top story now! I have mine in a large as well and I find it to fit really well for me. I find that the shoulders and arms are more comfortable for me on the larger size and I like my outdoor gear to have space to move in as well. I don't remember there being much space on my back. I'm not sure about whether or not a smaller size would have helped your jacket ahah. Hope this helps!

I appreciate your input, cheers! Here in the UK at the moment we're experiencing some windy weather and so I conducted a little experiment. I bought an anemometer and found a place on my walk that I considered quite rough and windy. As if tempting fate, I took off my resolve jacket and held it tightly above my head to see how it blew about and it flapped with considerable violence. After putting it back on to keep it from being blown away, I had a go at guessing the winds and thought it had to be 45-50mph atleast. However, I was very shocked to find that according to the anemometer it was blowing a max of not even 30mph(29mph was the highest reading)! Just goes to show how we can underestimate the elements and nature is not to be messed with!

@@Stormywinds This is a terrific point! A lot of the time weather is a lot less than we think because of how powerful it can be, we get some crazy gusts in Canada and it only reads 20-30 km/h. Thanks for the neat info!

That is a tough one, anything that is water proof is usually more expensive. I would take a look for any coats that have goretex, that would ensure the waterproof and windproof.

I believe its just a standard update, very minor changes, maybe some imperfections that they heard about or noticed. No major changes that I am aware of and its a great jacket!

I would not use the resolve for skiing. I don't think it's equipped to handle such activities as well as not being designed for it. I think most cases you'd need a lot more layers to stay warm.

I've found that if the coat is large or small on your shoulders then it makes the hood not fit properly. I have the large and the hood will sometimes go over my forehead a little.

I would say its based off personal preference. I find that I am always warm so I like the Resolve 2 because its very light. Others like the venture are warmer. As for style I think most look pretty great!

Hey! Thanks for the love! I'm a bit over 6 foot and somewhat slim. I got the large because I found it had more space for my shoulders as I wanted to have good movement while wearing the jacket incase of hikes or any activities. Hope this helps! I always recommend going to the store and trying them on, I don't think I'll be uploading a video of me wearing the jacket unfortunately. But who knows!

Thanks for the advice. I've tried both the medium and large in store and am still somewhat undecided. The sales team there advised on a medium but looking across several KZfaq videos, most people who are tall like me but who don't carry too much weight opt for a large. I'll think on... :)

Thanks! So it might just be opinion based, but I found the venture 2 to not be as breathable. North Face says that it is, but everyone I talk to says it does not vent air out well at all. It is also a heavier material so I find it not as comfortable. Overall, the opinions I've gathered say Resolve 2 is great and venture 2 is not so great. Hope this helps!

It might, I've never worn it in that severity, but I would say go for Goretex as you'll be set in that.

@@GearReviewsA late Thank you for your response , I just saw it . I recently purchased this same jacket in Earth brown for $52.87 and it is indeed nearly identical to the red and grey Stinson . The Stinson is made in Vietnam , my Resolve 2 is made in China . The fit of the Stinson is a little roomier across the chest vs the Resolve 2 when I stretch out , arms back . It is noticable though , one less layer and all will be good . THE main difference is the Stinson has Velcrow wrist adjustment , while the resolve has elastic . The Stinson has 1 chest pocket while the Resolve has none . Zippers and toggles are the same as are the hand pockets . Both have a mesh both on chest and back . Kinda like fact that the Resolve 2 has extra fleece around the neck area w/ velcro to roll-up to hide the hood ( both appeared to be the same ut the STINSON lacked this) . Stinson Hy-Vent vs Dry-vent . Close call but Stinson .

You could definitely wear it over a puff type jacket, although I think the sleeve cuffs may hinder each other since they are both the elastic ones.

I'm not sure, if you can I would go try them on at a store. The large is a good length though, so it could be too long, but I don't know really.

Doesn't look like its available in Canada, so can't say for certain but looks like it's insulated where the Resolve 2 is just a shell.

I'm 6'1 and the jacket is a large as I like to have space on the shoulders for when I'm outdoors

This jacket offers no insulation and doesn't retain that much heat, I would definitely not wear this in winter.

It is a rain jacket, so it works well in wind. It helps to layer if its colder out, I find I'm comfortable in it in the spring, summer and fall.

I would say on a spring or fall you may be fine, but you'll need another layer for the colder time!

i work outside and the weather was 50 degrees F and windy yesterday, this kept me dry but not warm.

Great question, yes multiple times. When you take it out of the washer it can make a mess since it doesn't absorb the water.

Sorry to hear that! Maybe its the new version of it as mine works extremely well! Its definitely not designed for keeping you warm in cold places.

The jacket is designed to be a barrier , not an all in one habitat . Just enough heat retention in moderate conditions yet breathable enough that moisture escapes , I do recommend using thin moisture wicking longsleeve underneath and replace with fleece when you go to bed
