Fun fact: the reason it’s so treacherous is because it’s only about 300 ft deep while other oceans are thousands of feet. Because of this, the water moves around and smashes off the coast/ edges causing the giant waves. If it was a thousand feet deep, the waves wouldn’t be so aggressive

Fun experiment: Fill a but shallow container with water as well as a bucket. The deeper bucket is easier to prevent spillage due to more space under water whilst the shallow container will constantly be spilling and not as easy to handle as a bucket.

Some years ago, a saturation diver named Chris Lemons was stranded in the bottom of the open North Sea, with no additional air supply or heating and with the ship above loosing coordination. The crew miraculously managed to recover him alive from the 300ft (100m) deep sea floor. A guy was literally stranded on the bottom of the sea we can see in this video. His story is captured in the 2018 documentary "Last Breath"

My dad was on the Fanshaw Bay, homeport in Hawaii during WWII. He hated flying and boats after the war. If you slammed the door and he was home he would beat you with a belt until you blacked out. Then wait until you came to then beat you some more. He was a sick person after the war. I never realized until a few years ago that he must have had ptsd and equated the slamming doors to bombs and artillery going off.

2 years on a Lowestoft Trawler 98' LOA 1968-70 we tended to rise over it.. but You could have trained astronauts with the free fall as you dropped back down into the trough. We couldnt fish in bad weather. we had a Mizzen sail which helped us keep head into wind, if we went broadside on that would be the end of us, so we did 3 hour tricks on the wheel keeping her from broaching. My Grandfather was lost in the North Sea in 1920, during heavy weather like this

Usually only from South, Central American countries in box cars over land not on those ships. I never heard of box car stowaway on ships. This video shows why items are so expensive when whole box cars fall into the Sea/Oceans. Can't listen to that song anymore.
