Amazing how Mary's reign is so associated with the "Bloody" moniker. I mentioned Queen Mary I recently and the person I was talking to said, "Oh yeah, Bloody Mary!" Unfortunate.

I feel like Mary gets maligned because she was the first real woman Queen regnant, besides Jane Grey. She gets maligned for trying to produce an heir.

She mostly gets maligned by Protestants for her Catholicism. John Knox wrote a book called “The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstruous Regiment of Women”

Just learning more about Mary, makes me love her even more. we are so steeped in propoganda and mistruths about her. Its shame that people cant see the person behind all that. I cannot wait for the future episode with Dr. Emma.

1553 was a dramatic year... edward VI & the regent dudley,....then queen jane nee grey DUDLEY... then queen mary tudor, queen consort of spain as wife of her cousin, king filip habsburg...

Do duke of Norfolk. He remained catholic and they are still catholic to this day. He was said to be nasty. He did say to Anne Boleyn, she is the ruin of her whole family. I think he said that because of that Tyndale Bible where Henry read that as he could do what he wanted..

Oh wow, that doesn't surprise me that he said that to her if he did. They did not get along lol. Anne publicly mocked him for marrying his 14 year old ward who was originally betrothed to one of his sons. They didn't seem to have gotten on well with one another.
