Hip Hop Generational Translation: From 1974-1992 a freestyle was a rapper rapping off the top of the head on the spot. When mixtapes got bigger around 92/93 a freestyle became, rapping over someone else beat, however around 2009/2010 that stopped being a thing and a freestyle once again became rapping off the top of the head

You understand why we credit BIG as the G O.A T? I give the crown to Big over Jay and Nas because Biggie didn't write and his story telling was parallel to Nas' who's an admitted avid writer. Only up until maybe 3 years ago Nas was number one to me. Biggie only being 24 when he passed makes me think where would he be today which is why I credit him as the 🐐.🤷🏽♂️💯.
