Something like this actually happened to my Grandfather. Got in a motorcycle accident, went to the hospital, and while he came out relatively unharmed from the accident through scans they found out he had cancer.. it was treated early though and luckily is still alive and doing fine :)

There's also an ancient Chinese parable that is pretty much this story. A man's horse one day runs away, and days later he returns with a mare who then also provides labor at his farm. Another day, the man's son falls off a horse and suffers a leg injury, but later a military draft passes, and his leg injury got him exempt while the other draftees in his village eventually all got killed in battle. There was way more to the story, but I've forgotten most of it.

It's been a year. I have to write this. It's crazy. A year ago I was watching this video. While I was watching it, like 3 minutes in I hear a muffled voice outside my door of my dad saying something like "she got hit by what?" With a scared voice. He was on the phone with my brother. I ran out of my room crying. I just knew. My dog got hit by a car while on her walk. It was the worst day of my life. And after running out of my house into the car to see where and how she is I was thinking of this video I never finished. I love your channel, I love your videos. But now, a year later I'm finally writing about this. This video is intertwined with that experience. When we got to her that night, she was already gone. I said I love you a million times and hugged her hoping she can somehow feel it. I had her for 13 years. I loved her deeply. Something about this video and that night will never be forgotten.

I had this same kind of effect some years ago. It was the time my best friend has died, and he was the only person I ever felt remotely close to and understood by- my everything, although it sounds cheesy. The despair of feeling alone, the despair of feeling like I could have done anything differently and maybe change the outcome, ran through me like a truck (no pun intended). It's now that I realize, paradoxically, it was the best thing that ever happened to me, because I felt alone. It made me own up to my life, leave an abusive relationship, try all the things I wanted, build up by myself, and soon I'm leaving in a country I love to pursue my dream career, being a person my inner child, my inner teen and my present me are proud of.

So this explains why im single, its just good luck.

Yup, that's how life works. Some of us go through life thinking if bad luck was all there was because no other luck shows itself. We do if lucky learn some sidesteps to make that can avoid some bad luck. But like in Eric's case do we really avoid bad luck or maybe miss some good luck coming in our direction. We just don't know and that is what life offers us. Luck (good or bad) and uncertainty. Here's to you all, stay true to yourself, no regrets that way. ✌️

This reminds me of a Chinese story/proverb I know called 塞翁失馬 which translates to 'Old man who lost his horse' The story goes somewhat like this: The old man loses his horse, and then his horse comes back with another horse, his son rode this horse and fell off because it wasn't tamed, but his injury prevented further injury and/or death in the war, because he was unable do be consripted due to his injure. This story seems to go like this: Man loses his dog, dog comes back with potential mating partner for man, man gets injured while driving to meet mating partner, man's brain injury prevents further brain injury and/or death by catching his disease early. Kinda weird lol

I watched this once what feels like ages ago, I had two childhood dogs a Shepard-doodle that passed about a year ago now and a red dapple dachshund that passed this week. I wasn't present for either, but I missed Annie's death by hours getting stuck in an absolutely hellish 2 cancellation Atlanta lay-over. I didn't know it was going on because my family felt too busy trying to moral support me through the airport. The other dog didn't have the same connection to rest of the family, like physically he wasn't as cuddly and even though we'd get him groomed later in life his hair got very matted, Annie the dachshund was fiendishly cuddly. My stepdad would meditate and shed scrabble up onto his lap to curl up and nap with him. After Igor passed I let her sleep in my bed because they used to stay in my grandma's room before she had to get hospitalized. (Imma leave this to exist because it's therapeutic)

I had this thing happened to me. My friend kicked me in the nuts, I was hospitalized. Then they found an issue there, they fixed it. Doctor said I would be sterile if it was not discovered within 5 years of the accident.

I'm not going to try to explain the unfortunate events I've been through in 23 years of living purely because I've tried before and nobody on the internet would believe me (I don't blame them). That being said, recently I've come to find out just how lucky I am even in the face of my many downfalls. Appreciate what you've got people, quite literally none of it is guaranteed even as cheesy as that sounds.

This is actually a really clever modern retelling of a very, very old story about a farmer and his son. Long story short, it tells basically in the same fashion. a cow runs away - bad cow brings back more cows - good son breaks his legs tending to the larger herd of cows - bad son doesnt get taken for war - good The craziest part of being human is the sonder of the past. Our problems, struggles, internal strife... all of it has been experienced by every human that has ever lived. The romans and ancients felt love, pain, remorse and awe all the same as we do today... they just aren't here to personally remind us of that. Were all the same, and always have been.
