I'd like to make a note on point 3. Life, as we know it, is not possible on the surface of Saturn. Well, saturn doesn have a surface, but what it does have is moons and quite a few of them. Its possible that the writers could have such an alien species originate from the moon known as Titan. hmm... interesting point. On the other hand her computer's keyboard was a brail keyboard and plenty of computers are set up to be able to then speak the results of what she google searched. Personally I don't think those books were hers and I do think it's super sketch the "FBI" guy was sneaking around w the lights off alone in the house, yes he met Prairie at the FBI building but they very quickly left "his" office to instead go walk around outside... he could have been impersonating an officer the entire time. Also he blatantly lied to her about keeping whatever she told him confidential. First off he wouldn't have been able to promise her that based on current laws where he would legally be bound to break confidence if she threatened suicide, self harm, intent to harm others, etc. Secondly if he wasn't sharing his interview findings with the FBI why would the FBI use one of their psychologists to counsel her? I know a lot about such things and that definitely doesn't make any sense. Also did anyone else think it odd that in the beginning Prairie lit 5 candles when she met the five ppl at the house and in her vision of her dad is holding candles... maybe the candles symbolize one soul and maybe Prairie's father contacting her with the 21 candles instead meant he had used 21 souls? I don't think that last part is very likely but I did think it odd that it was candles he used and not like birthday candles either and that that is the one premonition that never came true...? Also noticed her outfit is different when she jumps off the bridge than the one she's wearing when she's released from Haps captivity... she couldn't have bought it herself cuz she had no money and how exactly did she get from his drop off point to the bridge anyways? And then there's the water which definitely seems to be constantly referenced... like when Homer falls through the ceiling and gets chased there's water all over the floor and the building seems like it's falling apart or something and when he reaches the fish they're in tanks just like the cages that the five of them are in. Plus the fact that hap keeps drowning them to kill them, which maybe could be another reference to her premonition as a child when she's drowning? There are so many things I can FEEL are significant somehow but I can't seem to make the connections yet.

ALSO! How did the prisoners carve the movements into their own backs? We know they did it to themselves because the OA says so and because there was no way for them to touch each other. So 1. how could they draw on their own backs so accurately? 2. why choose their backs? Why not their stomachs or their thighs - at least then they could see what they had recorded (which is half the point of recording something) 3. why not use whatever objects they were using to carve into their skin to threaten Hap with en route to the experiment? Maybe Homer could have maimed him just after he opens Homer's cell, and they could tell him that the only way to get him help is to agree to release the rest of the prisoners.

SPOILER By now you’ve probably seen season 2 and have your answer but just in case: In every dimension the OA gets assigned a guide. The FBI agent is her guide in this dimension. The FBI agent suggested those books for OA to help her remember who she is. She already has her sight at this point and doesn’t need them in Braille. He also later helps BBA, Steve, Buck, etc escape the feds when there is an amber alert out for them.

I'm sorry it's just that some of your points are completely random. I get it that some of them might actually be legit due to the nature of the series, but others are simply too random to mean anything... In my opinion the series leaves it up to the viewer to fill up any holes that are left in the story, and thus in a way make a story of their own... I don't think some of the features showcased are ment to be taken in a spesific way, but to leave it up to us to make up one that suits us best. If there is to be a second season I am pretty sure they will explain most of the "hidden" stuff but there is no way of us making any sense of some of them, assumptions at best.

Thanks for the reply! For "St. Louis", when people refer to the city, it usually sounds like one word: "Saint" is short and blends into the "Louis". When referring to a saint, the name usually sounds like 2 words: "Saint" is more drawn out and there's a pause before the name. Her clothes didn't just stand out because of fashion, but also for how weather/setting appropriate it isn't. I work in mental health higher levels of care, and it reminded me of some past patients. I think it's when the OA makes the soup, Hap points out that her hair is different. It also seems to change with themes. Also, I wouldn't expect a blind person to pay so much attention to their hair, but maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Season 2 answers the question about the books. Such as the question of WHEN the books were purchased/arrived.

the biggest theory related to the books is that the FBI agent placed them there. to try to make it seem as if the OA's story was fake. to trick the kids. what is the FBI's role? and how much do they know? both are still mysteries that we expect them to explore in coming seasons here's the way i look at it. there's a way to see and possibly even travel through to alternate forking realities. that is the king of thing that Russian Oligarch's AND the FBI might be interested in... Hap and Leon Cintro were both studying the forking realities. So even though we didn't witness it, the FBI probably has a hang in the game, too. What we don't know is whether they are independently studying it, whether they are spying on Hap (through Rachel, who didn't get a movement), or neither but they are good questions erock. that's what i want to know, too!

The appearance of the FBI guy in the Johnson's house was perhaps the most surprising thing to me in the whole series. He has no more legal right to be in the house than Alfonso does. That he planted the books is the best reason I have for him being there, but I can't think of a good reason for him to do that. After all, why would he think that one of OA's friends would find them? It would be her parents, who probably look under the bed more than even OA does, and they already think she's making things up. Still, the books are in an Amazon box, and OA can barely breathe without her parents' monitoring it, how could she order books off of Amazon? That being said, I did note that OA's wolf sweatshirt was on top of it, which is curious. The other thing bothering me was that the box contained just four exactly on-point books, just enough to make people question her story, while interestingly, if actually hers, they make her seem not crazy, but like she had an idea for a story and bought some books to help her flesh out the details, which suggests the deception was calculated. So, I cannot figure out what the FBI agent would have to gain, or if the books were OA's how she got them and why. Also, I found it interesting that Alfonso did not question who the FBI guy was, and even let the guy hug him. Sure, Alfonso was probably feeling skittish since he'd been caught committing a B&E, but letting himself be hugged by a stranger, that's weird.

a 4th reason why the bridge or the river under a bridge is a portal: when Prairie was a child, she died when the bus drove over a bridge and fell in the river underneath. Kakun helped her cross over from one dimension to another. Is this all coincidence?

Oh they do :) A lot...but as with all the rest it can be explained in 2 ways. 1) He planted the books. Yey...all of it was real! 2) He is a "believer" and there for the same reason as French, trying to see if it could be real or maybe he is trying to catch a serial kidnapper, but doesn't want to push Prairie since she is already in a pretty fragile mental state. Or (and here is a "curved ball") - some of it is true and some of it isn't. Maybe the book about NDE is real? She HAS been in an accident as a child or when she jumped off the bridge and wants to know more about her experiences. Maybe the book about Oligarchs, reminds her of her father. Point is, maybe the FBI guy only planted some books to "complete the picture"...on the other hand while Homer's Iliad is mostly about Trojan War...Odyssey is also attributed to Homer (you can call it "season 2" of the Iliad or a "sequel") and we won't even go down that rabbit hole regarding the similarities between these two, but here are a few quick ones (Odysseus meeting the god of winds; his voyage to the land of the dead; Meeting Calypso, who keeps him *captive on her island for 7 years* offering him immortality if he stays...I should probably stop here ;)

Where "French" came from remains unknown, but it always felt like a nickname to me. When OA is on the phone, she tries to contact someone from the group (ep 8, around min 27), but then she realizes she doesn't know any last name (aside from BBA, who's not listed, and Steve, who's not at home because he's escaped the new school and his parents don't know). When the FBI therapist confronts French in OA's house (ep 8, around min 33), they have this dialogue: "What's your name?" "Alfonso" "What?" i really want to believe in it all being real (multiple dimensions, her memory, etc). so thank you for this! bc it was very fishy i think she also mumbles something about "oh no its a landline..." and then changes to another person. do u have any idea what that would be about? why would she be against land lines?

About the landline I thought that maybe it was because she has the feeling someone would listen ? As non-american, at first I thought that you couldn't get a landline phone number through this system, even if it didn't make a lot of sense haha

yeah u make a great point about some things werent intended to be understood. Brit and Zal did a good job wrapping it up as a stand-alone season, even tho it was open to interpretation but a scene like that seems like even mroe evidence that Brit and Zal WANT to do future seasons *fingers still crossed* havent heard any news yet of it being picked up. have u?

that call is sooooo strange... im not sure this is right, but people eventually convinced me that the strangeness stems from OA sort of having a conversation with herself. she starts realizing that she was using the kids all along. like pawns instead of like a team/friends.... and that may have been the missing piece towards using the 5th movement...

I think the reason OA sounds so lost during the call is that she realizes she doesn't know her listeners' full names. She knows Steve and Betty's last names because they were relevant to her ruse as Steve's step-mom, but she's otherwise been so preoccupied with her mission that she never thought to learn Alfonso, Buck, or Jesse's last name.

for sure. since the creators have mentioned that people in real life with NDEs have similar experience across all religions, i tried avoiding specifically mentioning any sort of religious symbolism plus its just a sensitive topic always. im afraid to directly touch ojn it. i have no fear of talking about spirituality tho!! =)

but i don't think that can be the case because there were a few scenes in reality in which Prairie played no part nor were they part of her story. 1. Alfonso seeing Homer in the mirror (the exact Homer that we see) and the head cut 2. The dog being calmed down by Prairie 3. Prairie's arrival at the school window at the exact time and place to be shot 4. The scene with Hap & the other scientists whom he murders. I dont recall him telling that to Prairie, and she never told it as part of her story so we have to conclude that was a real event 5 There were other scenes involving Hap where Prairie wasn't present and they were also not part of her story (ie she never knew of those could never have known events) eg. the first time the sheriff turned up at Hap's and he got managed to fob him; off, - he never told Prairie about that ,so why are we seeing it unless its real.

i can totally see the evidence that people are using to come up with that interpretation. but i am with u. it would be kinda sad im pretty such that the creators wanted to create a song, admirable female lead. so i think its safe to say that shes probably not crazy =)

Paula Questions, after reading your comment I also noticed Prairie's adoptive mom is wearing all purple the day they adopt Prairie and her hair is down loose and flowing red. If I remember correctly in the future when Prairie returns to them as The OA her adoptive mom wears mostly dull colors. I'm rewatching the series again, see if I pick up anything else!

we dont know for sure how much time has passed. and ive heard some people say that braille is built to represent the letters. in other word, that someone who knows braille may be able to learn to read fast than someone who doesnt know braille but either way, i think she knows how to read. didnt she type in something on youtube to search for homer earlier in the season? (episode 1). if she can type, im assuming she can read but with that said, i think the books were plant from the FBI dude =)

yeah for sure. so season 1 had this concept of "forking realities." HAP seems to be the most advanced. Leon Cintro had found one other dimension. so it wouldnt be surprising if we found out the FBI also knows something about the forking realities. still a mystery how much they know and what their intentions are. but theres definitely a lot of shade around him being at the house, and possibly planting the books

roryboytube, I read an article where she said, that she already has everything planned for a second season. They just wait and see what viewers and netflix think about the first season.

Unfortunately Netflix looks for big ratings which usually come from dumb shows for dumb audiences. Original stuff like the OA is considered too fringe to the dumbed down majority, so we can only hope that they go with the exception here and allow a second season. Either way Marlin will continue to produce thought provoking stuff and i will follow her on any alternative platform.

The actor who plays Buck was asked in an AMA on Reddit about any preview on the next season, and he said "the search continues..." I'm going to assume that's a sign that season 2 will be on the way. Also Netflix has kind of said "stay tuned" or "updates soon" The first season was filmed very secretly, the production signs were even in braille! If there was something going on, they might do the same thing as before. Keep it as quiet as possible.

awesome post. its definitely a possiblity! but based on the interviews from Brit, i just get the feeling that she intentionally created OA as an admirable female character. so i think she is traveling through dimensions as opposed to dying and having her life flashing before her eyes, so to say... but anything is possible! only time will tell

my theory is similar, but I think of it more of the movements causing a series of coincidental actions and reactions to take place. the movements distracted the shooter, someone took down the shooter, shooter shoots in the exact direction that the OA was doing the movements, but that's only because she was doing the movements.

the second theory could totally be true. but i hope its all real =) as far as the first point, i hear ya. i look at it that way as well. it SEEMS like a distraction, but its more than that. i like the way kitsilanocat worded it above

Eletroette youre confusing their names. Renata is the one that plays the guitar, she got one movement, rachel sings beautifully and was already locked up when O.A. got there, she never got a movement.

Rachel didn't get a movement, Rachel is an FBI informant working together with Hap.
