I think the mechanics being happy to help is common all over the planet. I was a motorcycle tech for 16 years in WV and I never turned away anyone traveling that needed a helping hand and a some tools. And I have received help from mechanics while out ridding… what goes around comes around😉

Bud you're hella courageous!!! I carry a pelican case in the back of my Taco (5vzfe) with everything short of main/ rod bearings at all times. Including 3x Denso coil packs, extra set of plugs and wires and even a full timing belt/ water pump kit. Most of my wheeling is within 1,000 miles from central California so i couldn't even imagine what'd have to carry down to Patagonia to feel "safe" 😅😅😅. As always epic adventures and incredible footage/ story telling. 👏👏👏

@@fraserwright9482 Curious how that works out for you -- I'm hoping to do the Pan American Hwy in a mostly stock awd SUV -- of course not doing any serious off-roading. My rig is clearly a "pavement princess" for going down bad roads, Ok, but not real off-roading. I'll stick to rural, but somewhat populated areas and smaller cities -- at least that's the "plan" -- lots of AirBnbs, hostels, odd hotel and campgrounds on occasion.

It must really be amazing to be finally reaching the country that has been on the horizon for so long. I enjoyed the part at the beginning about having a plan. Plans lead to expectations and expectations can lead to disappointments, so why have them? I have always liked to keep my options open so that every curve delivers a surprise, you guys seem to be the same way. After all these miles (Kilometers), Sunday seems to be the perfect vehicle. Even when he is down, he never gives up and patiently waits for repairs. The fuel pumps seem to be an anomaly, but maybe it's been like a body rejecting a transplanted organ. The other ones just weren't the right fit. Here's to hoping that Argentina and Patagonia bring you all of the gifts you both so deserve for having the perseverance to never give up.

Thanks for the great content. That cracking sound may be your camper. If I remember correctly, you used rigid mounts to attach the camper to the frame. Given that both cab and camper are attached together, there wasn't much choice but to use rigid mounts. I would do a close inspection of the camper around the mounts, cab splice area, and walls. It's common for cracking to appear in fibreglass camper body walls over time if they're aggressively off-roaded with rigid mounts. It's safer to separate the camper body from the cab and use flexible mounts on the camper.

Greetings once more from the sunny south Okanagan, thanks for another look at the journey you're on. Good to see you could get the plugs and plug wires, sorry to see another furl pump packing it in, but at least they had one. So many of the aftermarket parts here now seem to be of variable quality anymore. Here's hoping the next stretch will require a tad less wrenching. Safe travels you two.

Quick tip. Not sure if you're aware that spark plug wires can be custom made. You should be able to purchase the crimping tool and terminal ends at a parts supplier. You could also use a similar style wire that isn't for that specific vehicle to get by. It's common in the high performance world to custom make plug wires.

When Have Any Of Our Plans Ever Actually Worked? We Plan, We Get There, All Hell Breaks Loose. -Harry Potter And a lot of these mechanics are hoping that you mention their shop (Hint, hint for those of us who might be traveling in Chile next year. :| XO posted Lat/Long with their South America series) You give them payment by giving them recognition. Plus, it's probably more work to bill you through their system than it's worth if they're honest. Said as a mechanic's son.

If we were relying on luck this whole time, 16 countries means we should buy a lottery ticket hey? On a real note we started this trip with benches full of parts. If you’ve seen our previous videos you’ll know we switched from an in-line fuel pump to and in-tank. We carry a spare in-line in case of emergency, so that we can easily do the job ourselves. We were near a town that was able to drop the fuel tank for us so we chose that. It is amazing how resourceful you can be around the world if you’re willing to make the effort.
