The civilians on Sotha are surprisingly tough for people who have rarely seen war. When they were invaded by the Night Lords during the heresy, not only did they help hide the escape route of the Ultramarines, they also managed to kill a few Nightlords marines. And when they were captured, the Nightlords couldn't make them reveal where the Ultramarines escaped. Think about it, a civilian militia managed to give the Nightlords, who are known for being extremely effective at terrorizing civilians, a bloody nose and hurt their pride. The Scythes chose the farming equipment as their symbol to pay respects to the toughness of the people they are protecting and recruiting from.

Cornfed folk already stronger than the average human, no doubt they'd fair better in augmentations. Emperor would be pleased in these farmers made manifest

@@iago110 Wouldn't necessarily have to. The Warp defies logic, and the Hive Mind is effectively a warp entity in its own right. Plus, there were already "feral" Tyranid bioforms in the galaxy before the Astronomicon was even activated, like the Ymgarl Genestealers, and a hive fleet I can't remember the name of that, instead of going around eating everything, simply existed peacefully within a single planetary system, with its own independent mini-hive mind, only becoming hostile if anyone tried to land on any of the planets in that system. There's also a number of other possible Tyranid descendants that have "gone native", such as the Krakens of Fenris and the Catachan Devils. Here's the thing, though - because these Tyranid organisms existed within the galaxy already even before the activation of the Astronomicon, that suggests one of two possibilities: 1. Neither the Astronomicon nor the Pharos Device actually attracted the Tyranids, and instead they had already previously invaded the galaxy before and are now just trying to finish what they started. OR 2. The Tyranids are actually originally FROM the Milky Way Galaxy, left the galaxy for the most part, and are only now coming back.

Magnus is still worse 😅 A full strength Imperium with The Emperor still in the field would laugh at the "threat" posed by Tyranids...

@@jamiearmstrong3487 I’d disagree on that. Magnus was told not to mess with warp magic but did it anyways because big E is an idiot and never told anyone the consequences of using warp powers. This could have been prevented if either Magnus took his legion to Terra or if the Emperor actually told his sons what he was doing. Dantioch on the other hand had literally no idea what would happen if he blew up the device. No one knew what would happen. So I think the L definitely goes to Magnus and the Emperor lol.

I believe they (the scythes of the emperor) had his ACTUAL mask. Not just a symbol of it. If I remember right one of their members (I think actually their chapter master) was titled as the Warden of the Pharos. And the Warden wears Dantioch's mask itself.

From what I recall Dantioch wasn't the only loyalist Iron Warrior that was considered an "honorary" Ultramarine during the Horus Heresy. Frankly I could see both the Scythes and the Silver Skulls being successors of loyalists Iron Warriors with some left on Pharos to guard it as the Scythes while the others were split off to form the progenitors of the Silver Skulls.

@GaIvatr0n actually they are chimeric, meaning their geneseed is a hybrid. A GW enployee who originally made the chapter said thart one of the sources of the geneseed is Iron Warrior. We don't know what it is mixed with. World Eater is a popular guess

I think that a Sythes last stand might be better as a major event, rather than the reveal. Ograhm was a narrative campaign reveal, where Ultramarines or Tyranids could have won based on player victories on either end. In that case, I actually think it was more important to have the Ultramarines, as GW showed they were willing to let their poster boys lose when the numbers didn't go their way. Also, if the old Sythes had been wiped out, I feel some firstborn players would have seen it as further steps of GW aggressively phasing out old marines.

Well it's more personal than the others. Sotha used to export high value agriculture products like fishes and meat but now it mostly exports angry space marines with a burning hatred for the Tyranid.

Any new Firstborn marines they make would also not see it. Just because the chapter is down to 100 marines, does not mean they can't recover back to full strength. The story paints it like it's due to Primaris being foreign that why they might not uphold those traditions. When it's more than they are new and never saw Sotha. New Firstborn Scythes of the Emperor would be in exactly the same boat.

Well these guys actually have a connection to an iron warrior and a pretty pivotal one at that. Yes minotaurs are more then likely iron warriors and the other two would be interesting but this whole season is about chapters Arthur finds interesting who has connections to the Legions and his ultra video will probably about some other interesting chapter
