Fried chicken at The Old Country Store.....can't think of a better way to spend my day. Lorman, MS is only about 30 minutes outside of Natchez which happens to be a town that we love to visit sooooooo when in town, we gotta go get some chicken at Mr. D's place. This place is definitely a destination place since there's really not much else around except Alcorn State University. Don't turn your nose up when you pull up to this old building because the outside doesn't look like much to write home about. It's coming though...and you'll see when you walk inside (ok the inside doesn't look like much either). Stay with me here, I'm trying to say this ain't no fine dining but you'll be so happy that you stopped! Featured on the Food Network show "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" Mr. D proved to Alton Brown that he could cook chicken better than most in the business...including Alton himself. Don't fret if fried chicken isn't your thing - ( can you go to hell for not liking fried chicken - I think so) - there is a whole buffet with other fried deliciousness and ribs and meatloaf and whatever else you want. The service here is great. Every last person will greet you and make sure you have everything you need plus some. I know alot of other places that need to send their employees to the Mr. D school of service! Last but not least, everyone needs to get a song from Mr. D. Don't worry you won't have to ask, he'll make sure you feel special with your own personal serenade at your table. Go try them out.
