Great build! I have a 602 engine. It's truly a passion! I just wish I could weld? I really appreciate your great knowledge of these engines!

i dont really got any big knowledge, i just film when i do stuff and edit it together. And also my welding-skills are nog at that weld-porn-level you can find on other places on youtube, But they are strong enough to work for the aplication (i hope)

Watching and waiting with interest, impressed with your TIG welding, I really need to get my act together and learn alloy TIG. :( Cheers Glenn (Down Under)

its a good thing to know, and alot less messy than your standard mig-weld. I on the other hand need a better power source out to where im parked (something like 230V 20A) cause today i cant make my kemppi tig-weld to work at site, it power surges and wont work properly as it is now.

Hello Foffe - does the intake manifold from the n/a OM603 fit on the OM603a turbo version? And from which engine is the part, you're cutting on 08:20 ? Greetings, Marlon

i have actually never owned a original turbo 603, but i havent heard that there would be any difference on the intake-exhaust manifolds. The cutting is on a 92-93 intake filterbox for a 92-93 om603 N/A , they came ni aluminium those years but im not sure it came on all of the om603s. This particular one had the oil-squirters and oil-cooler filter housing even tought it wasnt a turbo-car to begin with, so you can find good not-hard-used mercedes engines with lots of the same setup as a turbo-engine.

Är insugen gjort av aluminium eller är det bara att dra fram magen o svetsa lite? Behöver man göra sånna flänsar som du har gjort eller är de bara att he lite plåt runt och bygga en låda? Mvh alex

Hej Alexander, insuget är i Aluminium , och jag kan ej minnas mig ha gjort några flänsar? Dom så kallade "lådorna" är i plast på dom äldre merca OM60X motorerna, men denna var från en 90tals motor och själva lådan var även den då gjort i aluminium vilket var mycket tacksamt för vidare konstruktion. Tror det framgår på videon men minns inte säkert.

Nice video! I have a w124 om603 tdt that i want to put bigger turbo and dieselmeken pump in. I wonder how meny safe hp you kan have without opening the engine? (How much boost?)

i actually dont know, since the engine runs on compression only (compared do a gasoline engine who also need sparks to ignite the mixture). the diesel engine is in the range of 15-25 : 1 in compression ratio from the get-go. And adding more air into the mixture will only make the engine run cleaner and better (the knocking that kills a petrol engine is what these engines do on every stroke so they are made and designed for it) But ofcourse more engine power present more stress on the engine parts so something will give, most probebly the rods. But if they break at 250 or 350 hp i dont know.

Nice job on building the intake box. I was wondering why you didn’t go with the turbo intake until I saw the finished product. I assume you are adding a charge air cooler to the front of the car. Is Gorän in Sweden that builds the injector pumps? I’m going to make room in the barn for my W140 300SD to pull the engine and transmission this winter. My W140 S350 turbo runs pretty good after doing a ton of work to it last winter. It just needs more power too. I wish I had someone here in the Pacific Northwest that would build a pump for me. All the shops around Washington don’t want to touch a Mercedes pump or do a performance build.

Hello again Cullen Miller, its more fun and educational to make your own stuff (even if it would be easyer to get a turbo intake yes). Yeah it was Göran at dieselmeken that made this pump. He is retired now and Erik is the new boss, but i have heard that Göran still wonder around in the shop to this day (to old cant find home?) there are alternatives to Dieselmeken but i dont think anyone can beat the quality and price on the pumps. I dont think they would have any issues with sending you a pump overseas. Some times they have extra pumps that you can buy if it seems to be to much of a hassle to send in you own.

No its a Holsex HX40 with internal wastegate (maybe thats what the "W" stands for) bought in sweden from www.speeding.se

@@Foffe2000 yes, the W stands for the internal wastegate. I was looking throw that page an they dont have hx35w. I think that turbo will suit my set up better.

@@andonimontoya9889 maybe the HX35 is better suited to your build, but as far i can see the HX40 with the internal wastegate are cheaper to buy than the HX35 without the external wastegate.. if you are willing to get more boost with the downside of a loonger spool-up time it might be better to go the HX40W route. i havent been able to really see whats the best for the 3Litre engine since the automatic gearbox that i am running at the time are slipping really bad. But so far i am feeling that i should be able go get descent boost within the diesel-engine rpm range in this setup

jordå, men denna dras nu bara så den står framför turbo-insuget, på längre sikt blir det catch-can eller att jag sätter in slangen mellan turbo och dess insugsfilter.
