My target is 10 listings a day M-F a lot of times I’m unable to do it with designing, mock-ups SEOs so I end up doing it during the weekends. 😅 I get so overwhelmed about designing. I can’t just sit there and design 10 in an hour because I have Anxiety and ADHD so it’s a lot harder for me, also I have a 3 year old, yes I know they might just be excuses for some people, but it’s really hard for me so this series has been most helpful.

I really like the way you teach. How to organize yourself and be productive with all of tasks that come with running a small business is something that is almost never discussed in these types of videos, but it is something i am very interested in improving. Overwhelm is a real thing for me. Especially when you also have a family and home you have to take care of as well. So i really appreciate that you are so relatable and give such great advice. I started this journey in December last year. Lost my job this January. I wasn't getting much and I am looking for a job rn. I have 9 listings and I always got overwhelmed because I spend a lot of time on designs and it's draining. I stopped after I was laid off bcs I could barely afford the subs for it before so now I just stopped. I don't know whether or not I will get back or not but it was fun while it lasted minus the brain drain. Your videos are good.

There's times that I feel that overwhelm you talk about because I'm doing EVERYTHING! from designing, researching, creating mockups, listing my products, optimizing for SEO, and marketing and at the same time learning as I'm going! it gets pretty overwhelming. And on top of it I get imposter syndrome. I am not giving up tho, I'm going to keep on pushing and my shop is going to succeed!

This sounds lovely. I really appreciate your time blocking series, as I'm a disabled stay at home mom and can't always choose my hours. Kid is napping? Half hour of listing. Kid won't sleep? An hour of design on my iPad while I sit next to her crib. She's at the gparents? Big research block. I also really appreciate your encouragement about keeping at it when it feels tough and overwhelming. I'm going to try to set a non sales goal and focus on it so I don't feel as discouraged at my sales going down this month instead of up.

Thank you again for another incredibly helpful video, Mandy. I have ADHD - it really doesn't take much for me to experience overwhelm. It's kind of my default setting. Brain dumps are key to clarity for me. I like to think of that piece of paper as an "external hard drive", freeing up space in my brain and expanding my bandwidth. Labored metaphor, but it works! :D

@studiomdesignsco
@studiomdesignsco 11 ай бұрын
Usually that direct/other traffic is when your shop is linked from another website. Sometimes you can click into it and see the website, but most of the time it's tough to tell specifically. You'll want to work towards building organic traffic that comes from the Etsy app/Etsy search, which primarily results from your SEO :)

I appreciate your breakdown showing which days you do what. However, do you have any recommendations for a 5 day schedule? It doesn't work for me to work on Saturday and Sunday. I have time blocks available only in the mornings, M-F from 5:30am-7:30am. I'm a new shop and I'm ok taking things slow at this time due to the transition our family is in at the moment. (Military retirement, living with family until we are able to stand on our two feet again, homeschool, health issues, and another move coming up as we head to our final location) Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated, as I function best in time blocks anyways. I was thinking that Monday would be a research day, Tuesday design /mockup day, Wed Etsy /printify day and Thursday design/mockup and Friday end with Etsy/printify. Does that make sense? Thank you so much!

Mandy, first thank you so much for your channel, all of your videos are so helpful! I wanted to ask how you handle customers who are asking for a return or exchange, but the mistake is theirs. I have had several customers lately who simply ordered the wrong listing, color, size, etc. and are now asking to exchange the product. I am trying out telling them that I don't accept exchanges of this nature (as stated in my shop policies) but am super scared they'll turn around and leave a bad review. I do also offer them a 50% off coupon so they can get the shirt they want. The pleaser in me wants to just give everyone a free shirt so they're happy, but with margins so thin that could eat into my profits pretty quickly. Just curious how you would handle this sort of situation!
@studiomdesignsco
@studiomdesignsco 11 ай бұрын
I think your approach is perfect to offer a coupon on a new order in the situations where the mistake is clearly on the customer's side. This helps ensure that they get what they want and you are still covering your costs of operating the business. Every once in awhile you might run into an unreasonable customer, but in most cases your approach is very professional and what I have done in plenty of situations :)

Creating 12-15 good designs in 30 min seems impossible to me. Are they all different or do you create one design and apply it to different niches and rinse and repeat? When you do your research, do you detail what the design will look like so its quicker to do them when it comes time? I have a POD apparel shop and I love the business and research part of it and I can make really great designs here and there, but 12-15 in 30 min? I feel like there must be something I'm missing that all PODers understand. I feel like if I tried to rush 12-15 designs in 30 min, they wouldnt be very good. What is this design strategy that Im just not understanding? I cant be the only one.
@studiomdesignsco

Start at the beginning of this time block series, I walk through my full process in each of them. In the Design video I make 12 designs in realtime based on the research and past knowledge of which styles tend to do well 💜 Some designs are simpler than others, so it’s an average - my Canva designs are generally more simple, and my Kittl designs tend to have more complexity. I do a mix of both when I’m batching, and sometimes it’s as simple as adding a personalization option or changing up the color palette to see which one gets more traction once it’s actually listed 😊

Spend more time doing research and immersing yourself in marketplaces or other sites where your customers may buy from (check out the first video in this series) - - you'll start building up a muscle memory of what's actually in demand and selling in terms of designs and then be able to more quickly apply that to your niches. The more you can understand your customers/niches and what they want - the easier they are to design for (and even ChatGPT can offer some great ideas if you prompt it!). The whole goal of this series is to practice working in batches so that you can work more efficiently and get more done. Over time the more you do it, the faster you get :)

I've had an ETSY store for 5 years, listing a few of my art pieces which, knowing what I know now, was destined to do nothing. Now I'm debating whether to use my time and energy to really go for it with POD. So my question is: most highly successful ETSY sellers posting on YT are talking gross sales. With all the costs, fees and taxes that come out of your income, is the final net really still worth the time you put in?
@studiomdesignsco

Everyone's goals are different, but for me it absolutely is. My net profit from just Q4 in 2022 was $17k that I would not have otherwise had (here's the video where I talked about it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aOBmg7yJvZeWeH0.html). And I was still a relatively new shop at the time and was not working on it full-time since I have a separate handmade business. It's an additional source of income with zero inventory or fulfillment involved (unlike my handmade business) and now that it's fully established I can spend relatively little time on it while still bringing in the profits :)

This is a great video and channel thanks for being a calm sane approach and not 24/7 hustle which I can’t deal with having a neurological disability . My approach is batching which I did before pod because I’m coming from a commercial art BackGround and that’s how studios work. I do research but also like to just try products and themes that speak to me because I like to put my art out there and see what the response is. Some of best sellers have just been me having an inkling that something is a good idea and if I relied solely on erank etc it wouldn’t have shown up as a viable search. But def need to be aware of trends n such which I like to do anyway. I’m going to check out your group. Thanks again and keep it up.
