@@suezuccati304 no ability is not the end of world. Some pokemon have sturdy or blaze that while not useless, are not really part of your strategy. No ability should be fine.

There's a good reason as to why Regigigas was given Slow start. It's a pokemon with Box Legendary stats that isn't restricted in VGC (since only Box Legends have the restricted status). While this probably doesn't matter too much these days due to power creep, in gen 4 it would have been a reasonable concern. Additionally, Slow Start serves a lore purpose so it's pretty hard to justify just straight up getting rid of it. With that in mind, along with the new regis we've gotten recently, I do expect Regigigas to get a new forme at some point that has a good ability and is lore-wise meant to reflect what Regigigas was like in it's prime.

Now that Regigigas has Protect, it can be 2 turns without much risk if you kill opponents setup sweepers

@@UltraAryan10 the thing is with that, is that status moves that can disrupt regigigas aren't necessarily exclusive to set up sweepers. Say something with Taunt, for example. If you get hit by Taunt you have to either throw out your mediocre moves to keep the counter rolling down or give up the progress you made and switch out

Basically, protect is a good addition for Regigigas, but it's still very exploitable as even if you get going, if you ever have to switch, you have to do it all over again or have a deadweight

Zacian and Zamazenta stopped Eternamax Eternatus, twice, a gigantic being with so much energy that even Legendary Pokémon become gigantic as well and increase their power after being imbued by it, said energy warping time-space due to its sheer intensity. It says a lot to be able to defeat a Pokémon so mighty that it can power-up even Legendaries without draining out.

@@Dexuz First Zamazenta, and no even Eternatus are even close to how broken Zacian is with or without the rusty sword. Second, the lore of this pokes isn't tied up to Arceus or anything, so one fails to see how a mere pokemon hero who works in tandem with others to fulfull it's mission is significantly more powerful than beings like Groudon, Rayquaza, Palkia, Arceus, and basically everything. Previous legendaries had expanded backstories or roles in the creation. Xerneas and Yveltal incarnate life and death, Necrozma is kinda like the Arceus of another dimension, but what the hell is Eternatus and why's it so powerful? Maybel we'll get an explanation someday, but for now it's just out of character powercreeping.

@@jaimeXDgo Well I'm not talkimg about their competitive usage here, but even if you did, Eternamax Eternatus would undeniable be the most potent Pokémon ever, even above Zacian and Mega Rayquaza. Of course the form cannot be used, but if we could, it would be the strongest. I don't see why a Legendary Pokémon have to be related to Arceus in order to be powerful, only 6 Pokémon that we know of are directly related to Arceus, the Creation Trio and the Lake Trio, we don't know if other Pokémon have been created by it. Even in Legends: Arceus, it was left ambiguous. Yes, Eternatus doesn't have a backstory per say, but the rest of the Box Legendaries are kind of in the same package, anything said about them are myths, even as far as Dialga/Palkia actually creating time and space; every single time such a thing is told, it is stated in an ambiguous way, such as "it is said that Dialga did this and that". So again, are those *really* backstories if there is nothing set on stone? But regardless, Eternatus is still very powerful, and it has demonstrated to be so, even if "it came from a meteor and wrecked havoc" is a lame justification, not that the other legends did it better.

the difference is that ZU is based off of the legit smogon meta, which is a concrete thing. i love AAA, but it's based off of the idea "what if pokemon could have any ability"

Start at -4 in both attack and speed, then gain +1 in both each turn. Might be a bit OP with White Herb or in 2v2 with some stat-reset move on a support pokemon, but I'd be curious how it'd go.

@@Moose7701 Several abilities are banned in these OMs. It includes Huge Power as well as Intrepid Sword. BTW, Almost Any Abilities is the "OU version" of Balanced hackmon I would say. It's based on Over Used, with most Uber Pokémon being banned, and Pokémons are restricted to their natural moveset. Regigigas isn''t banned in Balanced Hackmon, but with his Title Legendary like stats, and the fact it can have something like Regenerator, Dauntless Shield, heck even Triage for priority Drain Punch, he obviously is too powerful for AAA. x)

Not banned in mix and mega tho, but it's also not that broken there anyways

@@-racine-9485 The OU version of BH would be StAAAbmon actually as it includes both the wide selection of abilities and the expanded movepool (but which aren't unlimited since it's type dependent, much easier to prep for) I love this tier btw, it feels like an actual *Balanced* Hackmon and I invite people to play whenever they can

The issue with that would be that suddenly he becomes a fairly powerful trick room Pokémon. It has great coverage and a ton of power. If any change was made, it should either have a reduced penalty or shorter penalty. Or maybe make Slow start incremental, making regigigas more powerful each turn until back to normal

@@eltonmateusnevesneves i dont think klutz would have any interaction with this item. klutz makes an item not do anything and the item would cancel out the ability so the net effect would be nothing. and yeah you could always fling the item if you want to get rid of it but fling doesnt give the item to the opponent so it wouldnt work like trick or switcheroo

Regigigas Attack stat is 160 so halving it just makes them basically equal. No reason to use special when physical is same damage output with a wider movepool and doubled damage eventually

Well, technically Specs Regigigas is a thing that I have seen a few times, it isn't good, it doesn't hit very hard, but it's more consistent than a regular set .......

@@kenniky When it comes to stat boosts, the way they are calculated means you can't just multiply the base stat. Azumarill for example, has 50 Attack, but Huge Power Azumarill's Attack is obviously much higher than base 100, it seems more like base 150. So I think Regigigas's Attack might be lower than it's Special Attack during Slow Start. When I used to use Regigigas I ignored its Attack and maxed out its bulk because I found it was so rare that you would pass Slow Start, so I preferred using it to paralyze, confuse and Knock Off half of the opponents team, which it can do because its bulk is ridiculous in lower tiers.

To answer your main question: In ORAS ZU, there's simply better Choice Specs abusers. Wigglytuff might not have the titanic bulk Regigigas has, but it also has an amazing Fairy STAB alongside fantastic coverage for most of its common checks. Illumise/Mothim are not considered the fastest or most power, but thanks to Tinted Lens, they can hit much harder than Regigigas and can pivot out of counters to more threatening teammates. There are countless others to mention: Glaceon, Magmar, Politoed, Swoobat etc. Physical sets despite Slow Start were just downright dangerous when it got its act together, compared to being a mediocre special attacker.

Better idea Any attack or speed buffs get removed and take 1 counter off the slow start per stage raised (if it used swords dance the counter would go down by 2)

@@hellhound74 Damnit, stop suggesting better ideas! Stop beating me with facts and logic! In all honesty, that's a lot better. Keeps the spirit of the Mon without being overly complicated like mine. It's balanced as Gigas has to use boosting moves instead of stalling with t-wave and protect, thus leading to more creative strategies and counter play not based on luck.

It is pretty decent and has seen some results indeed. It's a strategy very prone to disruption, that is extremely committal (you have to bring 2 pokemon out of 4 for it, and they always need to be together, and Weezing in itself isn't very good so you're essentially playing 3v4. Not to say that it's bad, again, it has seen some results, but it's also far from a world beater

Considering the power creep with the recent years, just straight up delete slow start it wpuldnt even be broken compared to some other pokemon
