We don't guess. We don't use emotions. We don't adhere to the talking heads that claim "expertise" over us. We only allow the numbers guide us toward ranking every Super Bowl champion from 58th to 1st.
I've made a couple of mistakes in the video, first when I said only two teams had ever pitched a defensive shutout in the Super Bowl. I failed to either mention or remember the Dolphins in Super Bowl VII only allowing a blocked field goal for a touchdown. And in a weirdly parallel error, I said only two scores in Super Bowl history have been repeated, when 21-17 were the scores of both X and XLVI. My memory almost always serves me well, but I really oughta double check more often.
Below we have an explanation of C-Score, the metric we use to rate every single NFL team from every single season in the Super Bowl era. Even further below, we have the entire countdown. Beside each team is the C-Score gap between them and the team directly ahead of them. Spoiler alert if you haven't completed the video yet.
0:00 Intro/58-51
14:35 50-41
28:29 40-31
42:05 30-21
58:27 20-11
1:14:17 10-6
1:23:50 5-1
Explanation of C-Score:
C-Score is a metric created by this channel to assign an overall value to a football team. It takes a team's:
-Results, including standard and Pythagorean W-L record
-Performance, including game control and play-by-play production
-Quality of opponents, specifically performance level against opponents
and distills all of that into one cumulative and comparative score reflecting the context of the season in question. When applicable, a team's playoff performance is also included.
A C-Score of 0 represents an average football team, whereas anything above 0 represents an above average team and anything below 0 represents a below average team.
A team's record is important, but not always indicative of C-Score. An 11-5 team can rate higher than a 13-3 team or lower than a 9-7 team. Not all records are created equally.

Great video, one thing I’m big on is if a team repeats I will always put that team higher. Repeating is unrare and way more impressive. So I’m much more forgiving when it comes to stats.

29:30 you mention only two occasions a defense shut out the opponent. I think its three times. Mia 14, Washington 7 (Redskins got a blocked FG return for a td) Pit 16, Vikings 6 (Min got a Blocked punt for a td) Bal 34, Giants 7 (NY returned a kick off for a TD)

Fun Fact 1 - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers rank #1 in Points Scored per Super Bowl, and #2 in Points Allowed per Super Bowl. If you take away the teams that have only went to one Super Bowl, they rank #1 in both categories. Fun Fact 2 - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the ONLY NFL Franchise to never give up an Extra Point or Two Point Conversion in Super Bowl History (Raiders had 1 FG, 3 TDs for 21 points, Chiefs had 3 FGs for 9 points). Fun Fact 3 - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the ONLY NFL Franchise to score 3 Defensive TDs in a Super Bowl, Dallas had the record with 2. Fun Fact 4 - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the ONLY NFL Franchise to have 3 Pick 6's in a game twice. First time was in their first win vs the Saints in 1977, and then again in their first Super Bowl win vs the Raiders

It might be fun to rank the best of the runners-up in these games. I'd be interested in how the "worst" winners match up with the "best" losers.

Hard to say, because their C-score would have increased had they made the Super Bowl and won it. Their final score was very good at 24.155 which woulda had em right behind the 2005 Steelers at 42nd, but not as good as it woulda been otherwise.

You have five teams from the 1984-96 Super Bowl Myth era over any of the 70's Steelers? The Steelers were loaded with HOFers, and these teams that won in the 84-96 era are vastly overrated. They are good teams that beat average to below-average AFC trash. Elway could go back in time with the team that he led to two SB's, and the 97 and 98 Broncos would beat the teams that beat them in the 80's (when Elway was the whole team). I do agree, though, with the bottom of the list. The 11 Giants ARE the worst SB champ ever. They were a Romo missed connection to Miles Austin (in Week 14) away from probably not even making the playoffs. I also agree with the 80 Raiders (who were ultra-lucky in the playoffs) and 01 Pats being in the bottom-10 (the 03 Pats should be in the bottom ten as well. They weren't much better, and they were even luckier).

Not always. Those early 2000’s Patriots squads went through some STIFF competition to win their rings. And I don’t like them. But you can’t knock those early 2000’s teams.

Would put the '81 and '88 49er teams against any of the next 20 higher ranked teams. Especially any NE or Pittsburg team jokingly ranked above them. Games aren't won on paper and one thing you aren't taking into consideration, Joe Montana didn't loose Super Bowls and neither did Bill Walsh.

Most overrated Team EVER!! Here are the stats. Lets go over the utter weakness of the schedule. At 8-6 Chiefs Vs 1-13 Oilers At 7-7 Vikings At 7-7 Jets Vs 4-9-1 Chargers Vs 4-9-1 Bills At 5-8 Colts At 4-9-1 Bills Vs 3-11 Patriots Vs 7-7 Jets Vs 4-9-1 Cardials At 3-11 Patriots At 8-6 Giants Vs 5-8 Colts NONE of these team made the playoffs, NOT ONE!!! 2 Winning Teams, NO team with 9 wins. Excluding the Dolphins, 6 other teams won 10 games or more. They played 8 games vs the worst 5 AFC teams. Now lets look at their playoff run, who they beat and how bad they beat them Vs 10-4 Browns - 20-14 Vs 11-3 Steelers - 21-17 Vs 11-3 Redskins - 14-7 If the other team gets 1 TD, the Dolphins record is 0-2-1 Now lets compare this playoff run to the 1983 Raiders run in the playoffs. Vs 10-6 Steelers - 38-10 Vs 9-7 Seahawks - 30-14 Vs 14-2 Redskins - 38-9
