The Saints went marching in following Hurricane Katrina with the arrival of QB Drew Brees and HC Sean Payton. The Falcons 1999 decline was led by the loss of Jamal Anderson early in the season after being the leading rusher the prior year. Also the 2003 Falcons lost Michael Vick for much of the season. The Texans should stay good if CJ Stroud stays healthy.

With respect to the 2022 Vikings, I don't see that as so much a case of a "fraudulent" record, as one where that was just an average quality team that happened to finish the regular season at 13-4. I think that team was, at worst, an 11-6 average team masquerading as a 13-4 average team. By comparison, the 1998 Cardinals resembled a 2-14 team masquerading as a 9-7 regular season team. That team was outscored by 53 points during the regular season. That team won 7 games by 3 or fewer points each, by a combined total of 18 points, entirely against teams which finished with records between 3-13 and 6-10. The other two wins were 17-3 against the 3-13 Eagles, and 20-7 against the 4-12 Bears. The team was 0-7 in games against opponents which finished the regular season with records between 7-9 and 10-6. The 1998 Cardinals made the playoffs as a wild card team (6 seed) and upset the Cowboys in the first round at Dallas, 20-7 (the Cowboys had beaten them 38-10 in week 1 at Dallas, and 35-28 in week 11 at Arizona). In the divisional playoffs, the Vikings beat the Cardinals in Minnesota, 41-21.

If the Chiefs three-peat in 2024 or come close they would have to make an updated list or be just short. If slight liberty was taken to include the 1965 Green Bay Packers along with the first two Super Bowl winners it would make an interesting list. I wonder whether the 2000's or 2010s New England Patriots came closest to the list during their Super Bowl title runs. I could see teams like the Cleveland Browns (Bernie Kosar) and the then Houston Oilers (Earl Campbell or Warren Moon) among the best team stretches never to play in the Super Bowl.
