The bomb takes you down, because by the time it explodes, your tail is directly above it. The incredible shock wave blasts your tail upwards, pointing your nose downwards, resulting in quite the untimely demise.

Joker LMAO your character can take damage if a bomb explodes too close to your plane , I once bombed another plane mid air but I was too close to it and my pilot died but my plane was still flying

This is the correct answer... however if the tale of your plane is close enough to be affected by the shockwave of the bomb... then I think your entire plane is going to tear itself apart

Not to say your wrong cuz game physics are different then real life physics but It's actually the absence of airflow under the wings, thus eliminating lift making the plane drop like a rock!😉

When the bomb explodes while you're at low altitude, the pressure wave forces the air outwards, temporarily drastically lowering the speed of the air over the wing and you lose lift. It doesn't matter how fast the plane is going if there's not enough air going over the wing.

When a bomb explodes the initial shockwave goes outwards bending forcefully anything it goes into contact the energy is pushed back which is the sheering force tearing the object apart but since the plane is "free" and not attached to anything it gets pulled down

If the bomb explodes behind you it will lift up your tail, but it could also bring you down due to the low pressure period shortly after a bomb explodes, like a big vacuum.

The explosion causes the air in its radius to rapidly expand, due to heat. The air then immediately cools causing a low pressure area. This creates an inverse lift effect where the air above the plane's wings to be a higher pressure than the air beneath the plane's wings thus pushing the plane down.

The reason why the explosion drags you down is because of the blast and the shockwave that fires up. I've also noticed that bf1 has that but just to say has it. Love your videos and they have helped me stay in the sky longer. I'm also on Xbox. You can see all my best moments on bf1 and bf5 on my Twitter

The force from the blast of the bomb creates an updraft which pushes the tail downwards and then your standard response is to pull up, but that'll also kill you by clipping your tail further on the ground, so don't fly so low.

Here,s the physics behind it u drop the it blows heating up the air there which expands rapidly and that makes a low pressure area (a vaccum) there so naturally air around the explosion rushes in to fill the low pressure area so u feel a suction effect pulling ur plane downwards.

as the bomb blows up it creates a shockwave. Pushing out all the air, this creates an imbalance of pressure and forces the surrounding air to implode (sucking all air in, as well as the plane) this all happens really quickly. This is the same thing that creates a mushroom cloud in a nuke blast

An explosion is a rapid expansion of gas. When a bomb explodes, it creates an area of high pressure. As a result of this, the low pressure air surrounding the explosion rushes in to stabilize the pressure. The plane was most likely pulled in with that rush of air.

If u were in a chopper just hovering the shock wave from the explosion with bring the chopper down but 99.9% of planes cant hover and the bomb keeps some of the kinetic energy from tge plane and gains some from falling which means that 9 times out of 10 the bomb will land underneath the tail and if you're close enough the shockwave will lift your tail up and cause a nose dive / flat spin

The explosion uses a lot of oxygen out of the air and the heat will take the cool air from the place around. The engine will stutter and the upwind, from the heat, allways follows a downwind.

@2:45 I think i know what you are asking about, when i drop 1k bombs on stukas or JU's the same thing happens if you are too close to the ground. I think it is the shockwave of the blast that messes it up. I dont know if thats what it it, but just an observation

Niccaman if I may suggest something: Try the mosquito with the dumbfire missiles and 250lbs bombs, every run is a guaranteed kill on a tank if you land them all. I have gotten some awesome killstreak with thus set up! So I figured if I can do it, you sure as hell can.

At 2:40 If it's only pulling you down, you should consider yourself lucky. Usually with a bomb that size, if you're that low to the ground, the explosion shrapnel would kill you (The Grand IL-2 Experience). However, to answer your question, it could be the shockwave that's causing your control surfaces to become haywire.

If I were to guess I would say the shockwave takes time to travel and when it finally reaches your plane it hits only the tail pushing the nose down.

I'm not Sheldon Cooper. But probably the explosion discplaces air molecules which create a small vacuum portal which causes the suction until air molecules replace such vacuum. That's my opinion

The shockwave from the explosion displaces air... it breaks the airofoil that your wings are creating and you lose lift. At least that's how physics work in the real world work hahaha.

The funny thing is that I have survived that 4000 lb bomb twice while in a panzer. Also with a german bomber by mistake two enemy planes flew into my plane and I survived again. LoL

The explosion and the plane being pulled is due to the fireball from the explosion sucking in the air hence plane losing altitude due to lack of oxygen and air for the engines to breathe. concussion from the bomb and the timing from how low you really are will not match up and it will push you down it'll put you nose down into the ground higher altitude equals higher chance of survival
