Seriously, sometimes simply noticing an “obvious” thing is so helpful. I love the way this ties all of the pentatonic shapes together while also making it more musical.

This is GREAT and You're An awesome teacher. You make learning fun. I learned all 5 boxes and the diagonal patterns should work great with them, Love the 3 fret shift.

I’ve been staring at the fretboard trying to memorise it for ages. I’d already picked up the 2-3 pattern earlier, but even though it was right in front of my eyes and should have been obvious, seeing the three fret shift demonstrated was a huge lightbulb moment. I can now instantly find the right five notes anywhere on the fretboard and after a little practice, can now do that in Em and all the other more useful keys too. Thank you! 😊

Good lesson! I especially like the three fret shift. But this should be another way of thinking about pentatonics, I think, not a replacement for the boxes. If you want get a more angular with relatively large jumps between notes, the boxes are way more intuitive just because you can play them horizontally. The same if you want to play the scale in thirds or fourths.
@DanielSeriffMusic
@DanielSeriffMusic 5 ай бұрын
Sure. I feel you. I think the combination is a good idea. The large majority of folks only spend time with the boxes. Hence, this angle.

@@DanielSeriffMusic Absolutely. And the fret shifts are a good way to get from box to another as well.

It's a good thing to know, but why claim to have 'discovered' it. It is basic intermediate knowledge and there are dozens of KZfaq videos teaching the same diagonal approach
@DanielSeriffMusic

Cool. Become a teacher. Then you will “discover” what basic intermediate knowledge actually is. “To "discover" means to find something for the first time or to become aware of something that was previously unknown or unrecognized.” Doesn’t mean I discovered it for other people. I discovered it for myself and have helped thousands of people recognize it. Move along if you don’t like it. Don’t need you here.
