My title was a bit pompous, but gotta get those clicks. What are your thoughts on this mouse? Did you buy one? Did you have any QC issues? I'd love to discuss. - Via an update this mouse now supports 8,000 Hz wireless polling rate. So, 8,000, 4,000, 2,000, 1,000 Hz polling via wireless. Wired is 1,000 Hz only. - Date is 11/27/23 and it is still the best mouse I've ever used.

It's clear that the Razer bias you got going on for multiple videos continues. Your intro made me think otherwise, but the actual content of the video was same old Razer shilling. And the most weird part is I don't think you're even getting paid for it like the other shills, it seems like you give a lot of thought and time to thoroughly assess the Razer mouse you're reviewing and also the competition, but the results you draw are completely biased towards Razer.
@ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler Жыл бұрын
@@oLoSTo44 I would agree that my bias is towards Razer... because they have the best specs and the best performance currently. Which is earned bias. The moment someone else does it better I'll be touting them instead. I had massive Logitech bias for a long time because they were so ahead of the competition. But they haven't updated anything in the past four years. Which is also a nod to them for having stuff so advanced that it took nearly 4 years for most of the competition to catch up. I'm also eager to see what they have in store next. As they are due for some sort of refresh and the Logitech G502x or whatever it was called was lackluster. I haven't personally tried Pulsar or some of the other "budget" (as $80 - $100 is still expensive) options that have come out recently. As spec wise they aren't equal to Razer (and often times nether is their firmware. As they are using Razer's Focus+ AKA 3395 but without their firmware so making their own firmware. With Razer and Logitech leading the firmware game for the past 4 - 5 years and being huge companies they are hard to beat) so the only difference is going to be shape differences. As most everyone is using the same switches (omron, pink dot, etc.) Making it so both the shapes, switches, weight, performance, etc. have pretty much been done at this point. Making it kind of like I've been there done that and is boring. So, unless a company comes out with something interesting and unique I have a hard time touting it. Recently, Razer has come out with new internals, new shapes (VIper Mini Wireless, Deathadder change, and sorta a V2 Pro change). Finalmouse's Starlight 12 while I love that shape, weight, and magnesium have meh internals for premium prices. And their QC is crap. The Lamzu Atlantis is solid across the board. Especially, for a new company. But I personally don't like the shape, the clicks while they feel great are too heavy for competition (which is my main focus personally), and their firmware has a ways to go before it is hitting top marks. I don't consider it shilling personally. Even though I can see why it could be construed that way. Definitely not getting paid. I try to still be as objective as I can. Logitech definitely has the best shapes. Their primary clicks also tend to be some of the best feel wise (due to the mechanical tensioning system). But the omrons they use are cheap and develop double clicks a lot. Which has dramatically gone down since the GPX released and they finally made some changes to the switches they use. Firmware wise Logitech also leads and is neck and neck with Razer. But objectively and by some margin Razer's wireless tech and sensors are better than anything else on the market. Razer's shapes in general suck. As does their coating. I would argue the Deathadder and Viper Mini shapes are two of the best ones they have going for them. And even those compared to a lot of the competition are still not as good. I much prefer optical switches. As they are faster and less prone to failure. I also think they feel just as good as mechanical switches now (at least Razer's variant does, Roccats are hit and miss, I haven't tried Logitech's as the G502 isn't interesting to me currently, and I can't think of another optical switch off the top of my head). I hate how loud Razer's switches are though. As it makes it unusable in a shared space. I guess my question for you is how am I being unfairly biased towards Razer and what conclusions am I coming up with that aren't fair/justified? As again, I like to try and be as objective as possible. And if I'm being blatant or completely missing something I'd like to know. As you mention the results I'm drawing from the competition are flawed? Mind helping me understand that more?

"As other mice just aren't interesting to me anymore" 100%.. this was me when I bought mine a few months back. I have just been so bored with the mouse market this year I ended up buying the viper SE when I saw it came back into stock on Razers website and I really like it. I know now we have more launches now and some interesting mice, but I feel like first 6 months it was really dry, and a lot of new mice X2v2/GPX2 are more "refreshes" I'd say than flat out new mice. I really like the Viper SE, but it is definitely only for enthusiasts/collectors though like you said. Great review!
@ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler 8 ай бұрын
In general I still hold that sentiment. I've tried a TON of them. At this point they all feel the same outside of extremely minor shape differences. And even then, the shapes or more or less the same. I got the G Pro X 2 just simply because I knew it was going to be big and people would ask about it all the time. It's a great mouse. Behind the competition. But solid. I enjoy it. But nothing ground breaking, innovative, or all that interesting. Just solid. Viper SE is still easily my favorite mouse of all time. As I think they just nailed every aspect of it. I am interested in getting the Ultraight X in. Which should have already happened but they gave an 8 WEEK period to ship it out. Which is insane. One day I swear they are going to take everyone's money, not provide a product, and disappear into the wind to never be heard of again. Probably make a twitter post that says something corny like "the mouse is in your hand, it's so light it is like air, you just gotta imagine it." or some crap like that.

@ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler 6 ай бұрын
Yes, I did order it off the website. As that should be the only place you get it. As third party isn't worth the price increase. Yes, you will need to be quick. As while this isn't a limited mouse they are coming out in phases and they are selling out very quickly. I think you can also follow some pages on Reddit or Twitter or something and they will announce when a drop is coming so you are prepared. As I think Razer didn't expect this to be a popular mouse. And instead has been selling like hot cakes. I think if you have the money then it is worth it. Still my absolute favorite mouse. But the new Ultralight X (from my limited testing so far) is the only thing that comes close. And is cheaper at $189. But also coming in drops (thus far) is not a limited run. But with it being brand new is selling out quickly too. And expect a long time for them to ship. I think mine took like months to get here.

@@ThomasMuehler they had a drop today but it was taken out of my cart while I was checking out unfortunately and I was leaning towards the finalmouse until recently saw people saying they had QC issues and using glue and having to tighten the screws to stop creaking so that's why I wanted the viper mini se and it seems that it's only going to get harder to get one now since I believe its getting more popular even though it has been out for a while I really don't know what to do lol. I might have to bite the bullet but paying $400 + for a mouse is pretty dumb
@ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler 6 ай бұрын
@@Juveenyle Oh no! That is terrible news. I'm sorry you missed it. That is a crap feeling. I am surprised with so many people complaining about the Viper Mini SE how popular it has been lol. But I agree third party prices are insane. I still think $279 is insane. But for the right person and the quality you get I think it is justifiable. As it is still my favorite mice of all time. But the shape and size suit me. Plus it having the best internals helps a lot too. And they nailed the magnesium. Feels a lot better than Finalmouses Starlights. As for Finalmouse. QC issues have plagued all of their previous mice. First Impressions (and I mean very first impressions) is that the QC on this one has been the best it has been as nothing came broken out of the box on my unit. I know huge win right? Got the basics down. lol. But I haven't played with mine long enough to give an opinion on overall QC longevity yet. I will say mine from factory feels and operates the best out of any I've tried from them by a big margin (as I've gotten one nearly every drop since the OG Ultralight wired). I need to do more research on what others are finding as I haven't looked much. But just from what comes across my feed i haven't seen any QC issues. So you're the first I'm hearing. Was hoping this was going to be different this time around. But yeah, you're definitely in a rock and a hard place.

It is a very attractive mouse. So I totally know where you are coming from. I wouldn't imagine you'd notice any difference in polling rates in normal usage. Mostly that is seen in competitive gaming or games that would require fast reaction time.

really good video i like how you were able to cover an insane amount of info in less time because you talk fast but very clearly lol (upcoming drop, i think ill get one if they dont sell out before i can click buy) the fact that they are the only wireless mouse to do 8k now makes them a bit less robbery on the price imo.
@ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler 10 ай бұрын
Best of luck on snagging one! Also, I agree I think there are a few things that help "justify" the price. I still think the price is insane. But with it being the only 8,000 Hz wireless mouse among knocking everything else out of the park it helps. I certainly don't regret my purchase and it is still my favorite mouse of all time. I saw your other comment too. But it disappeared when I tried to reply to it. My opinion has stayed essentially the same on the mouse. I think the closest competition is $189. But you get better magnesium alloy shell, sensor, not as good of weight, 8,000 Hz polling, quick charging, USB-C, an epic box, glass skates + PTFE skates, color coated internals, way better software/firmware, 3-year warranty, and support from a much bigger/better company for ~$100 more (talking the Starlight-12 here not the Ultralight X). If you take the glass skates/PTFE skates those can be $15ish a pop, wireless dongle can be $30. So that is $45 - $60 more. So, again if I wanted to justify it I could. But I can't imagine a non-enthusiast or someone who is looking for the best of the best choosing this mouse. When they can get nearly the same thing at $150 with the Viper V2 Pro or Deathadder V3 Pro. As even at that end I think a lot of people scoff. And with Finalmouse's new Ultralight X or whatever releasing Aug 1, 2023. It will be interesting to see if they have finally reach S-Tier status where everything actually comes together for a great mouse. As prior they have always come close (I'd rank them A-Class) where they have certain things that set them apart which makes up for a lot but they've never had a flawless mouse before like Razer/Logitech. And if they keep it in stock all the time and it is $189 with three shapes (Large, medium, small), and those internals. They have a very good chance at being a massive disruption in the market and becoming a main player.

The Naga was actually my first gaming mouse ever. Because I thought have a bunch of side buttons was the bee's knee's. lol. Even though I never actually used them. Agreed on the Logitech. So u just bought a viper ultimate for 100 bucks (I'm in canada) and it's usually about 120-130 and I also bought a viper v2 pro for 150 which is usually 189.99. After tax 80 dollar difference and I am wondering which one to return. What's your thoughts as I like both mice but the v2's weight gives me an edge in cs:go as I feel snappier with my shots. Would love your input on this
@ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler Жыл бұрын
That one really comes down to personal preference. As both of them are going to be S-Tier. I think the question you should ask yourself is what is the main purpose of the mouse for my uses? For example the Viper V2 Pro is going to be more Esports/Competitive centered. As you've got a lighter weight, better internals (as you've got the new Focus Pro sensor) along with ability to have 4,000 hz (with the separate 4k dongle purchase making the price difference even more), no right side buttons, no rubber, no RGB, similar skates, USB-C charging, I think a longer battery life (due to no RGB and I believe the Focus Pro sensor is more energy efficient). Where the Viper Ultimate is going to be a bit cheaper, has right side buttons, RGB, the dock (making it truly wireless), and is a bit heavier. I don't want to call it a "casual" mouse as the specs are one of the best on the market. But it has kind of a mixture between esports and casual use. I think the biggest differences are weight, rubber sides, right side buttons, on/off switch, USB-C charging vs dock. I do think the Viper V2 Pro is the better mouse spec wise (and I prefer the coating, side buttons, weight, USB C), but I think the difference in performance for $80 or if you add the 4K dongle $110 isn't worth the massive increase in price. As performance is going to be very similar if not non-existent (depending on skill level and how much you're trying to min/max if you are even at the uppermost skill levels anyways). But I also think the Razer Viper V2 Pro is going to be more future proof as it has the best of the best specs currently, which means the competition needs to catch up first before it gets overtaken. Where the Viper Ultimate while still leading most of the competition is getting closer spec wise to being equal with the rest of the newest offerings from teh competition (that has the 3395 and offers 4k polling). Which is a long way to say think about the different features each one has. Depending on which one has more features you enjoy I'd keep that one. I'd love to hear your thoughts on which one you chose and why. Hopefully, I addressed your question well.
@Kakarot422

@Thomas Muehler hey man thanks for that response I do think I'd rather have a future proof mouse as I just got into pc gaming and was primarily a console guy before. I got the blackwidow v4 pro keyboard as I saw it was Razers most advanced keyboard and have up to 8k polling rate on it and seemed like a good choice to keep for at least 2-3 years without an upgrade, i actually had the huntsman analog before and returned it to get the v4 pro.. I defs want to do that with the mouse too as I am totally okay with investing a larger amount on good items that won't need an upgrade for time rather then having to get another mouse in a year or so. I do feel more comfortable with the v2 pro and I actually have a logitech g pro wireless as well which I felt has alpt of the same tech as the viper ultimate which is why I thought to keep the v2 pro to have two different classes of mice. Also side question, I have a 3070ti laptop with an i7 its the latest i7 can't remember the number. But would I be able to use the 4k polling rate on the mouse efficiently? I also have a 360 hz screen. Appreciate your help and loving your content man, keep it up!!!

@@Kakarot422 I haven’t tried the Blackwidow V4 but it does look sick. I also, recently found out from Razer The Fiend (who works in their technical department) that their keyboards have 8,000 Hz for both the polling rate and key scanning. Which I got incorrect on a previous video. Assuming you trust the source (which I personally do but I know some people get weird about conflict of interest there. Which is understandable). So definitely think you made a good call there. As again, unless if you were to get the Wooting 60HE (which is the best analog keyboard on the market) you aren’t going to find better performance wise. With you enjoying the V2 Pro more and you getting an awesome price of 116.99 I think you made a fantastic choice. As I would pay that difference everytime and agree that is the best of both worlds. Well done! As for your 3070TI and latest I7. Yes, that should be plenty powerful for 4k polling of your mouse and 8k polling of your keyboard. It will use more resources as it is more demanding. It will also vary a bit from game to game. As if you are running a game that is very CPU intensive already and then you add that extra polling you’ll lose some frames. But I don’t think it will be significant as modern hardware is pretty impressive in how powerful it is. Especially, depending on the resolution of your 360 Hz screen (which I’m assuming is 1080p). But at that hertz I’d imagine with the mouse that you’ll be able to tell a difference easier than at lower frame rates/Hz (say 60). Also, as mentioned in the video I haven’t heard of anyone saying that the CPU can’t keep up with higher hertz. But I myself along with a lot of others have found that other programs (my example of discord and escape from tarkov) do cause issues making it so I need to close the program or lower the Hz when playing that game. But you’ve got a high end laptop so I would be very surprised if you had an issue power wise. If you do please let me know! Also, appreciate you keeping me up to date. I’m excited for you man! Also, agree the GPX is going to be a slight step down spec wise from the V2 Pro. I also think with having a GPX you can get a better understanding of the other side of the coin. As a lot of people are in love with that mouse. It is also a great example of premium feeling clicks, great coating, and excellent shape.

@Thomas Muehler thanks again for your reply, yeah I'm very happy that I waited it out and got this deal on the v2 pro. Now I know I saved a good amount of money pretty much getting it 40% off and won't be looking to upgrade for a while. I defs reccomend trying the blackwidow v4 pro, I like it alot more than their other keyboards and it has 8 macros so if you find yourself wanting to use macros it's a good choice. On synapse I'm able to make it 8k polling so the sources were correct. Never tried though as I was unsure if my system could handle it. Now that I know it can thanks to your input I'm gonna try 4k polling on it and also get the 4k dongle for the viper since I might as well due to the savings I got. @ThomasMuehler 11 ай бұрын
Yes, in almost all regards. Shape will be dramatically different and subjective to personal opinion. Magnesium is going to be better, its going to be a lot lighter, dramatically better sensor, wireless, and polling rate. Clicks are going to be better from an objective measurement standpoint how they feel will be subjective. I would think the scroll wheel will be better as it is the best scroll wheel I've ever tried. But in general a lot of mice are subjective in how good they feel. Battery life won't be as good for technical reasons I won't get into. Likely better PTFE feet. But in general from an objective standpoint yes it is better in all regards. But the shape, size, weight, and probably sensor feel will be the biggest differences you'll notice. With that said if you are serious about spending a bunch of money. I would also look into the new Starlight X from Finalmouse. It isn't out quite yet. But looking at the specs and their marketing I'm excited for it. And I think it is releasing August 1st. Which may be easier to get your hands on for similar or perhaps equal performance. While costing a lot less ($189).

Since I got lucky and got it on launch I haven't been following it as closely. I'm aware of 4 total drops. Two being the original drop with another two happening since that time. The last one I see on their twitter was on May 23rd. I think they have been surprised by how many people are actually purchasing. I'd recommend follow Razer on twitter as they tend to announce it beforehand. Also, may be worth trying r/mousereview and/or r/razer on Reddit until you nab one.

But with it being firmware I’d also imagine that if they really wanted they could update everyone’s mouse and dongle with that. @ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler 10 ай бұрын
@StayPeace69 I think that would make a good video. So, I'll start to write that up. So you don't have to wait and just quick summation. I find 1,000 Hz to 4,000 Hz to be slightly noticeable. 4,000 Hz to 8,000 Hz is even less noticeable. However, I find enough of an improvement that I leave it on all the time and do notice it every time I sit down on that computer. But also, if looking, do see a hit to the CPU (13700F and 5900x). But can’t say that has impacted me negatively. Which could be an issue if you don't have a good one, but a lot of CPU’s these days are impressive. So unless you are already stressing it with normal use I don’t think that will be an issue. Only if you are at like 80% usage anyways. And/or if you are barely hitting acceptable frames due to CPU limits using a high polling rate may tank your frames even more. Again, haven’t done A B testing. Most of my games already worked fine at higher polling rates so I wasn’t getting frame drops. Also, found that frame drops were usually associated with some type of software issue (for example in Escape From Tarkov if was using 4,000/8,000 Hz it would be peachy. But if I opened Discord I’d start to drop frames like crazy and it would be unplayable with mouse movement. Dropping to 2,000 Hz would fix it). Windows recently came out with an update that was supposed to help with that. But I haven't researched/tested that much. But from the limited research I have done it appears to have fixed those type of issues for a lot of people. I haven’t noticed frame drops in any of my games recently. But again, haven’t tested a lot and recently did a bunch of work on my main systems which could have an impact. The increased polling rate helps the most with latency. Where due to the reduced latency the mouse feels more responsive, but I haven’t seen a dramatic increase in my objective scores but notice that it is easier to hit shots. But alternatively, it easily accentuates your flaws in aiming. As it is so responsive that if you have any jitter from anything it relates to the screen (which is why a lot of people actually use 500 Hz). I have found that tracking is a lot easier (due to the responsiveness and reduced latency). Flicks are improved as well, mostly with micro-corrections. As again, the mouse is more responsive so you moving your mouse from pixel to pixel is easier. But again, you shift your hand when trying to click and the mouse cursor will move and you can miss too. So double edged sword. 8,000 Hz takes a lot to fully saturate. So, a lot of the time you aren't hitting full numbers with it. I use 1600 DPI, but you should be using 3200 DPI or higher as that would more easily saturate it but also at what point does it become uncontrollable? Which I think is another reason why a lot of people have some issues feeling the difference. Is at 400 DPI you won’t ever get close. Pretty much the same with 800 DPI. If you don’t fully saturate it, then you aren't getting the full benefit of it and therefore, may not feel any difference, as there isn’t any difference to be had. But I may be wrong about that aspect (I don't think I am but I would always confirm yourself). Battery life at 8,000 Hz is a real deal. As I have to charge my mouse often. As it blows through it. But the fast charging makes it essentially a non-issue. But I still find myself sometimes not using that mouse for normal events just so I don't have to worry about charging for when I do get around to gaming. I also don't have synapse installed on my PC where I can easily switch it to 1,000 Hz. What I actually might do is replace the bottom button from DPI to 1,000 and 8,000 Hz profile (if I can, haven't looked into that). I continue to think it is the best mouse I've ever tried. And things have just gotten better. Clicks feel great, scroll wheel is the best I've tried, side buttons could technically be better (me knit picking). I like the coating a lot. PTFE feet are still great. I also think that the firmware/software/hardware are still the best on the market by a good margin. Which helps justify the cost. But still think this is a niche product only for the most hardcore. As you can get nearly all of these benefits at $150/$180. And honestly, unless you are upper percentiles the $100 mice with 3395’s and 4k polling (Lamzu Atlantis) will get you pretty much all the way there as well. But I do feel a difference between $100 to $150 to $279. But diminishing returns plays a significant part at every level and becomes more accentuated the more expensive you get.

@ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler 8 ай бұрын
I'm assuming that was one question "Is there a DPI that provides the best benefits when running at 8,000 Hz polling?" Which would be, from other people testing, and from people with more knowledge on the subject report a minimum of 1600 DPI and ideally 3200 DPI (or higher). As that helps fully saturate the lane and gives you the best results. As 400 to 800 DPI (which are the two most popular DPI's) struggle to fully saturate 1,000 Hz. Which is likely one of the main reasons why people struggle to feel a difference between higher polling rates. As they aren't saturating the lanes making it feel the same because it is essentially the same as they aren't reaching the higher polling rate (as they are reaching around 1,000 Hz with movement instead of the full 4,000 Hz) . Outside of the benefits of latency that is naturally inherent without movement. Personally, I use 1600. As I find faster to be harder to get to a reasonable level in games. Which is also highly game specific. As some have crap sliders and you end up doing a 1920 by moving a centimeter. lol@@Lovina.mia08

@@RanDSavage Scalper prices are awful. I remember seeing $700 - $1000 for it which is crazy. Especially, since this isn't a limited edition mouse. Granted they under-estimated the demand so haven't had enough units so is constantly out of stock. Which honestly, I think all of us are surprised about. But as for Crafted Mice finalbase, I actually bought that right before they announced the Viper Mini SE. I've enjoyed it and think it is nice (especially if the SE didn't exist). However, still think the SE is superior in every aspect. As I found getting the clicks correct was difficult, if you are too aggressive with a click sometimes it can make the click stop working making you have to reopen it again, side buttons are also difficult to get right, and lift off/landing distance can take a while to dial in. Thankfully, the Focus Pro has a ton of adjustment so you can dial it in perfectly. Also, for the price I would like it to be a bit more polished. USB-C charging is a bit odd due to it being a bit more recessed. And last, having to use the tool to turn on/off your mouse all the time can be frustrating. That is all the negatives which pretty much resolve once you dial everything in (except for on/off). But otherwise I think it is brilliant and having a Finalmouse shape/shell with premium internals is awesome. But seeing as the SE does all these things better and for cheaper (if you can find it in stock) it is the easy victor. If you end up buying either I would love to hear your opinions on it. But at $189 for a Finalmouse + $150 for the Viper V2 Pro + the $80 or whatever it was for the Finalbase and shipping the cost for the quality is not where I would like it to be. With no alternative worth it, but with the SE I find it hard to justify. Unless if you are die hard about finalmouses shape.

@@ThomasMuehler I agree with that a lot man, definitely something for the hardcore enthusiast over the average Joe lol also it is way more convenient than the mod if you can find it in stock though the main reason for the mod is the shape more than anything my hands are a bit too big to hold small mice comfortably but the medium shape takes the cake for me😭

@@turbo111777 I'll start his comment off by saying that the Viper Mini SE is my favorite and best mouse that I've ever tried. It continues to be my Main and I fall back in love every time I use it. As mentioned in the video it was worth it to me. I would say it is an upgrade. As internally it has better specs, magnesium means it should last a long time, they are upgrading the 4,000 Hz polling to 8,000 Hz (which I have yet to try and am unsure if that is exclusive to the SE or also coming to all 4k Polling dongles), and is highly unique as not a lot of people are going to have it. But is it worth waiting for and spending an extra $150 on? That is for you to decide not me. My argument against that is the Viper Mini Plastic version should be coming out here soon. Which will have the same internals and shape. Again we are unsure on the dongle and 8K polling currently. But you'll be saving $120 (assuming you buy the 4k dongle separately and that the premium variant will be the same cost as the Viper V2 Pro and Deathadder V3 Pro). Also, if the Viper Mini shape isn't for you then that is a ton of money wasted (granted you could easily sell it third party and honestly depending on your morals actually make money on it). There is no way I would buy it over retail. Unless if you can find it third party for the same price (I'd check Reddit) then it may be worth it. Again, if it weren't for the price and it constantly being out of stock it's an easy recommendation if you know that is what you want. But if you don't know that is what you want that is a big risk. Depending on your expendable income, location, and morals I'd recommend trying out the Viper Mini Wired edition to make sure you like the shape. Then picking up the Viper V2 Pro and trying that to see if the internals are worth the upgrade to your GPX. Then either sticking with the Viper V2 Pro or returning it and waiting for the SE to come back in stock. At which point you'll need to be on your game if you're going to snag one. As they sell out extremely fast.
