As a Bremen Fan it was weird. I tried to get Tickets to the opening game against Munich, no Chance, I actually got tickets really easily against Leverkusen and saw the while machine work. And now Bremen has somehow against all odds defeated Munich at an away game. I love the last few weeks in German football. Psychology is going to play a huge roll the closer the season is to ending and the tighter the table is by then.

I wouldn‘t really called Bayerns last game „bouncing back“. They really struggled hard and really seemed uninspired and helpless for most of the game, against an opponent that struggles with basically everything right now. If Union had a good a few good counter-attacks it would have been Bremen all over again.

As a ManU fan, I'm routing so hard for Sancho to do well! This will expose the BS that is going on at the club. Something isn't right, managers and players have been blamed for the longest time yet all these individuals did well before United and after, but never here. I don't understand why we even broke the bank buying Sancho, because we never really played him. It's understandable that a talent like that would get frustrated wasting away on the bench. I would probably also act out eventually, not saying it's right, but at least he's away from the rot and can flourish again. The only question is whether Leverkusen can keep this up until the end of the season or not. They got consecutive very close and last-minute victories now, it seems like it's gonna be a matter of time until they run out of steam, especially if they also make a deep international run. Even if it's the wrong video to talk about it, but since you mentioned it, the Sancho situation is a curious one. I am not a BVB fan by any means, but Sancho actually seems like a really good "kid" (I realize he is 23 by now :D) and ten Haag seriously did him wrong. In general ten Haag seems like a crazy dictator and he kicked Sancho out after Sancho stuck up for himself and didn't agree with ten Haag basically calling him trash in practice sessions. I think ten Haag also said stuff like that there have always been problems with Sancho at ManUtd, which Rangnick denied.

With Harry Kane I'd say it's just bad timing. Bayern are in some kind of a tranitional phase low-key so many drastic changes have been made within the board and I imagine whether knowingly or unknowingly it has to have made an impact to on the field results .

I pull against Bayern every year, basically wanting anyone else to win the title for once. I don't have a dog in the fight so much as just wanting to see something different happen as a casual Bundesliga fan. Leverkusen, Dortmund, and Schalke (sad to see what has happened to them over the past few years...and I also just got an idea for an FM save 💡) Anyways I am conflicted this year because going off what I just said, obviously I am loving what Leverkusen is doing. As a bonus Xabi Alonso has been one of my favorite midfielders to ever watch when he was playing. But, it is hard not to like Harry Kane, even as a non-Spurs fan, and part of me also wants that man to get his title. If I was a full-on Leverkusen supporter, I would be a tad concerned about the players who have just headed off to AFCON though...

Besides good coaching there is one extra thing why they're so good this Season. Leverkusen historically doesn't spend much money. They use a lot of youth players, but after selling Kai Havertz they went out to buy some good talents and veteran Players and it shows this Season.

I am getting massive 2001-02 vibes from this Leverkusen team. They reached both the finals of the German Cup and UCL but lost to Schalke and Real Madrid. The league is where it gets the most painful though. They were the most entertaining side to watch, scored 77 goals (12 more than Bayern who had the end best attack). In February they thrashed their closest challengers Dortmund 4-0, it was in the midst of a 10-game unbeaten run while they were also getting the better of Juventus, Deportivo, Liverpool and Man Utd in Europe. Then a late collapse with 2 defeats in April, it was all Dortmund needed to overtake them. Such a thrilling team with the likes of Butt, Nowotny, Linke, Basturk, Ballack, Lucio, Ze Roberto, Neuville and Ramelow, ending up winning nothing. I very much fear a repeat of the same, particularly as they've not been able to put much distance between them and Bayern. You just sense that those teams are fragile and will eventually succumb to pressure, which Bayern doesn't suffer from.

3 weeks ago, the 2. Bundesliga looked similar. FC St. Pauli had 9 draws, 0 loses. They was unbeaten until the last game in the DFB Pokal against Fortuna Düsseldorf and the last game in the 2. Bundesliga against 1. FC Magdeburg. Even the football style looks similar. Gegenpressing and a lot of good combinations. Except of the exploitation of opportunities and the struggle in the last meters in defense as well as Possession of the ball in their own half, they're way ahead of the 2. Bundesliga level. If they don't mess up like last season, they'll be promoted and may win the league title. It's also a really interesting story. They was not just the number 2 in Hamburg but also the second club from Hamburg in the Bundesliga for ca. 3 decades before they start struggling and got demoted. After a couple of years of being what we call a Fahrstuhlmannschaft (elevator club; means fluctuate between two leagues from season to season), they got worse and worse until they was demoted to the third league and was too broke to get a professional football license for the next season. Without support from other like the former president of Bayern München Oli Hoeneß, they wouldn't exist anymore.

I'd say they are currently on a level ca 90% to Bayerns. But they are just so much more consistent. They are at that level in literally every game whilst Bayern are in some games at 120% but for other games like frankfurt or bremen (or very much still hurting Saarbrücken) are at 10%. We've had very strong outings and even beat Gladbach this season (finally) and in the match against Leverkusen we were the better side (altough not by much if so) and it came down to two very good set pieces by them to get the draw. But they never had an off game. Never. They are always on that 90% and they are a cohesive unit with so far no weak points. We at Bayern have the likes of Davies, Sane, Kane, Kimmich etc. and we are very strong this season but our game has some very hard weakpoints that Frankfurt, Leipzig and Bremen have been able to exploit. I especially have the feeling that we are always at danger to get counter attacked and scored against especially if there has been a long stretch where we could not score against a deep standing team. I really respect Leverkusens and especially Alonsos and Rolfes work. It is outstanding to especially see what they have done with a very small budget. They spent less than Dortmund and got the likes of Boniface, Xhaka, Grimaldo and Hofmann whilst Dortmund got Nmecha, Füllkrug and Bensebaini. Neither Bayern (Would have needed Walker and Stanisic for that) nor Dortmund have been able to fully address the structural problems in their teams whilst Leverkusen has just build a perfect unit. It is truly incredible.
