this character is so all over the place sometimes he's portrayed as a ancient monstrous dragon and other times he's working as a chef or he's growing crops on a farm. he's pretty inconsistently written but i guess thats some of his charm. he's like MODOK the writers just kinda do whatever they want with him, sometimes he can be a genuinely threatening villain other times he can just be a complete goof

I love this character. Thanks for doing this. I always thought that he was MORE of an Iron Man villain, though! I guess that’s not the case, and it seems that they’ve barely fought. But I know that they retconned him into the Mandarin’s history.

Great video. Thank you. Fin Fang Foom could’ve aided the Avengers against Thanos and some of his larger flock in the movies. Would love a video on the original Defenders with Hulk, Silver Surfer, Hellcat, Nighthawk and others.

thanks for that great video, I didn't know much about him before, that was very informative and entertaining. one of the things I like to do when watching your videos is identifying the artist responsible for each bit of artwork, Kirby, Buscema, Romita etc. after 50 years of comic reading I'm getting pretty good at it. naming the inker is tougher though Sinnott and Janson are easy to recognize. Workman is the only letterer I can spot and with colorists you have to know the time period and issue of a book to even guess at it.

Fin Fan Foom probably has clones of himself over the years or is 1 of those "Captain Marvel" obligations where Marvel Comics has produced a quick story about her/him in 2 keep DC from FINALLY getting Rights to use the name

My god, writing the Handbook entry for FFF was a minor headache. Every single writer that used him insisted on using him as a completely different character. First he's an ancient dragon, then he's Godzilla, then he's the Midgard Serpent in disguise, then he's a demonic vessel, then he's an alien pilot, then he's a disembodied lizard spirit, then he's a human-sized cook, then he's the Thing From Another World, etc., etc.

How big Fin-Fang-Foom can grow? Is he as big as Giant-Man and Goliath?

I think 255 feet tall (350 feet from the tip of his tail to his head) is the largest we've seen him get. 32 feet seems to be his natural, comfortable state but he's demonstrated that he can still become larger than that. Interestingly, we never really see him grow or shrink. He will appear at different sizes and guidebooks confirm that he does, in fact, have the power to change size. Perhaps it's not as instant as someone like Giant-Man and takes a while for him to grow.

You came up with a fantastic list of lesser known Marvel characters that definitely could use a more in-depth video. I’ve always been partial to characters like Starhawk, Titanium Man, Dreadknight, and the Grim Reaper.
