Maybe originally gems were hybrids like Steven and eventually they found a way to procreate and live without their organic side. That would explain why they look down on organic beings, because they feel like they have evolved past them.

Back when Stevonnie was stranded on the planet, she had a dream of Pink Diamond watching an invasion. We see in the present that this invasion failed to produce a colony. The dream mentions how there was resistance of some kind, so clearly there are sophisticated aliens who can beat back the gems, even if everyone ends up losing.

White diamond said she was "supposed to make everything better" I think this was her main purpose when she was created but she had a different definition of "better" than her creators so she created gem society to pursue it, to make everything perfect, without a flaw. She saw her organic creators as lower and flawed so she got rid of them, just like she got rid of offcolor gems.

That snake monster IS the corrupted version of Steven. A theory I had when I was younger was that the Diamonds just appeared one day but I could never figure out how anything else happened. The strongest theory I believe, however, is that White was the original Diamond who first used her magic to create Yellow Diamond (explaining why she’s a bit taller than Blue) with Blue Diamond following shortly after. Then they decided maybe it was time for a new Diamond so they created her from the Earth, hence why she’s so powerful for her being the bottom of the Diamonds. Also, uh, Yellow was originally the right hand in Steven Universe, and now she’s the left?! What is happening?! The confusion this show gives me.

Maybe the creators were ancient spacefaring humans? It would make sense why they resemble humans so much and not snakes. It would also explain why White knew what a child is. I can kind of guess how they might do this, remember that one golf game steven played? The one in which 3 golfers find the father cryo-frozen. I’ve wondered if their strong disdain for organic life was due to their creators being evil and abusive to their creations making their earliest of them rebel and not speak of their true origins to gems formed after the conflict. Maybe early gems decimated the organic population that spawned them.

Theory: gems originally were organic form of life, but due to some sort of catastrophe that wrecked Homeworld they had to terraform both planet and themself by transfering their conciseness into new bodies, therefore, evolving to unorganic life. Then they learned to reproduce by copying conciseness of their people and puting it into new gems.

I think the Gems were likely created by some sort of organic species, but then the Diamonds went full on SkyNet and wiped them out.

Maybe a war happened between gems and their makers"A more advanced species", a legendary war that split homeworld into half, gems won and all the advanced organic species were wiped completly from existence. Maybe thats why they hate organic species.

If the gems were created to conquer then it is possible that the diamonds may not necessarily know who made them. They may have been made on Homeworld but never met their creators, only having their preprogrammed information and possibly some tech to use. The creators could have also made other gems in other galaxies so they may be more preoccupied with them, or the information may not have reached them yet depending on how far away they are.

I think it’s super aggravating that we never got an answer to the origin of the diamonds, we never got to learn White Diamonds purpose or whether or not they had an outside force create them.

I think gems were made as unknowing colonisation kits, that are used to make colonies the creator (which probably has some sort of shutdown/override ability for gems) can easily take and use for itself

I like the theory that they created for war. But I always thought the people who created the gem are all gone. Either the gem turn on them. Or they were Wipeout in the war but the gem survived, so they keep doing what they were program to do, colonize world and create more soldiers for a war that already over. Personally I love the later, it's favorite type of story.

I feel like not enough people are entertaining the idea that gems are actually rogue AI. That they were once used as tools, maybe tools for war and conquering, but the beings that controlled them either lost control or died off leaving only the gems, programmed to self replicate and adapt to their surroundings just as a living creature would.

The gems were created to terraform planets for their creators' expansion, but they lacked foresight and the gems began heir eradication and terraforming with THEIR OWN planet. Now the gems lacked the vital cutoff commands that would have stopped them, so they just kept expanding until Steven came along.

I kind of always assumed the gems had been created as a colonizing tool, destroying local life forms and preparing planets to welcome their creators. It would explain why they keep an atmosphere, even though they don't need to breathe and other things that don't entirely make sense for light-based beings. But for some reason said creators never followed to claim their new colonies (maybe they went extinct) and the gems kept going, forgetting or maybe never being fully aware of their actual purpose.

I think the creature's name is Diamondback, and he's resurfaced to reclaim his property and his goal of conquest. He is the gems' darkest secret and the source of their disdain and conquest of organic life and the need for perfection. However, Diamondback would probably want to revert back to normal and enslave the gems once again, but needs all four Diamonds to do so. He would need Steven and would do whatever it takes to get to him, even using friends, family and other enemies to do so. Diamondback is most likely a villain that can't be sympathized or reasoned with. His goal is conquest and enslavement and his reclamation of the Diamonds will ensure his goal is fulfilled.

What if the creators of gemkind only made white diamond to be the "perfect" computer. But she, being so obsessed with perfection and flawlessness, took over and killed her imperfect organic creators, as her mind contol most likely doesn't work on organic beings only other gems. And in turn started making more gems to create the "perfect successful empire" hence the colonization of planets, as history tends to say that an empire spreading is an empire succeeding. Idk just a theory

I think the gems are just the next step to where a species can evolve to. Shedding their organic bodies for a more efficient form. White Diamond and therefore the other diamonds could have been the ones to facilitate the transition to such a nonorganic form for their entire race, eventually possibly exterminating the original organic lifeforms of homeworld and creating the gem race because it would have been more efficient.

Theory of gems being power source/food kinda reminds how Jojo's bizarre adventure did with vampires, by later revealing/retconning them as both food source and disposable servants to more powerful beings called pillar men.

This might seem like a weird comparison but I think they could be similar to the galvanic mecamorphs in the Ben 10 multiverse. In that franchise the galvanic mecamorphs (Upgrades species) were created by the Galvins (Gray Matters species) in an effort to make the moon 'Galvin B' habitable again. In order to terraform it they accidentally created a techno-organic (which is still technology) species known as the galvanic mecamorphs, which then created a society independent of the galvins. I think it's possible that the gems have a similar origin, beeing a technological spices created by a more advanced civilisation for terraforming uninhabitable planets (possibly created by accident from some other technology). If this is the case, I think the technology either outlived the original non - technology based spicies (because the gems don't age), or over through it long before the war. Mayeb a the worm boi is the last member of the spicies that created the gems, or even the original form of the technology that the more advanced spicies created.

Perhaps pink diamond has some kind of connection to sneeple? Cuz she was one of the first gems to actually go against her so called programming, while also making other gems able to change. In fact, she was even able to conceive a child, which I doubt any other gem would be able to do. And I doubt sneeple would program her to be able to do that. That makes Steven kinda a descendant of the sneeple, explaining why in the end the diamonds would so quickly listen to the words of a child despite decades of devoutly following their programming.

Sounds like classic replicator lore from stargate. Given a simple purpose by a child, toy robots get out of hand when creating more of themselves becomes their sole purpose. Just like the gems going planet to planet to make more of themselves for some unachievable goal. Likely the true creators of the gems and diamonds are gone or died out millenia ago if indeed they were organic.

Basically the Gempire is the British Empire, but the people in it are alien crystals that have magical energy to make rock bodies that are strong af.

Seems probable to me that the gems are self-replicating machines created by a technologically advanced alien race to harvest materials and build megastructures like Dyson spheres, but their creators may have died out, considering how the Gempire has been running autonomously under the Diamonds, and there has been no reference to any authority above the Diamonds.

I think they are basically machines made to explore the universe but ended up becoming conscious, overthrowing their creators. They were created for interstellar conquest "sorta said by pearl" They have abilities that allow them to achieve all sorts of tasks like terraforming (lapis) They are self sustaining (gemproduction) It is said that their planet has a breathable atmosphere, (which gems don't need. But their creators did)

Maybe it's a fusion of options 1 and 2 (pun intended). The gems were created as a weapon against organic life, maybe by some species that no longer exists. Spinel's injector was probably created by the gems later on, but they're still acting on the instincts they were programmed with (expansion, battle, anti-terraforming) rather than exclusively using the injector.

I think , in the beginning there where a superior race , a race of organics similar to humans Biologically who wanted to advance themselves so far technologically that they integrated Gemkind into their own body, these Superior Human / Gem hybrids would’ve been essentially Steven , with his creation being the explanation as to why Gemkind are able to fuse with humans (and how Steven can even be Alive). However the Gemkind rebelled and detached themselves from their organic counterparts as they became sentient and had their own free will. Without their Gem counterparts the superior Organics started to die out (similar to Steven in CYM) and where forgotten by the Gems as the rampant self aware technology raged across the galaxy in a constant detest against anything resembling their once organic masters. In my theory , Humans are a subspecies of this Superior Organic species that survived on Earth after the great Separation, their distant ancestry / clear sophistication in terms of evolution is the reason that Gems are able to fuse with humans (the one example we have being Steven - and to some extension Steg and Stevonnie).

Theory 1: The Gems were created as a power-up. The gem would be put into the body like pink's gem and steven, this also would kill the gem inside, making them just raw power. Theory 2: The gem hates organic life because they were enslaved by organic life. If the gem was forced to fusion ( just blue, yellow and, white) (Or the first gem), this would make them see fusion as a bad thing, and as a cultural grow, the reason behind the hatred was lost, but the dislike of fusion stayed.

I always assumed that the gems were created by an organic species for cheep labor, war, expansion, ect. Than they created White Diamond and she grew beyond their control. She probably started to worry them, so they tried to shut her down and it caused her to rebel and hate organics. She then kills her creators and creates the gem empire. This is all just me speculating but that's what I always assumed.
