Pre-philosophic '' rumblings'' of other cultures? Buddha must be rolling in his grave if he heard such assertions today. Besides Philosophers such as Xenophanes, Parmenides, Zeno, Melissus, Heraclitus, Empedocles, Anaxagoras, Plato and Democritus among others were all alleged to have had contact with the Ancient Egyptian worldview.; a thing that they praised! Today many students from developing countries travel to the West for higher education whereas in the past students traveled to Egypt for the same purposes. I think the video should have defined philosophy first - as the Love of Wisdom. This is not a Greek interest solely as the philosophers of Greece agree that their neighbors too did the same. But what is accurate though is the development of a Greek philosophy as a distinct form in Greece territories, obviously influenced by neighboring countries' ethical, ontological ideas.

Many thanks, S. Koileken for your comment. Please note, however, that the term "philosophical rumblings" must be understood in a proper context. That does not mean there were no philosophical traditions before this time. Again, we mean "rumblings". Also, we are referring in this video to "Western Philosophy". Of course, we acknowledge the fact that Oriental philosophy is even older than Western philosophy.

@@PHILOnotes @PHILO-notes '' rumbling'' is a value term which may evoke negative associations depending on usage. As antonyms evoke - comprehensibility or regularity - generally positive; which one might associate with Western cultures erroneously. I don't want to sound pedantic here except that your message neutral though might be misunderstood by some of your audience especially if its word meanings are ambiguous. Thanks anyway, and I have subscribed to your channel.

Egypt and other ancient civilizations borrowed a lot from Indian civilization. Ancient civilizations were advanced beyond our current understanding. But the west tries to take the credit for each and every thing without giving the credit to the sources. Btw, eastern philosophical traditions are vast. Buddhism is just one small aspect of them. Jai sanatana dharma 🕉 Jayatu Bharatam 🇮🇳
