In very respectful manner, I'd like to say that I disagree about spreading this idea about Bön, which is not shamanism. Bön is equal meaning to Dharma. Of course that before Bön there exist shamanism in Tibet, but it was not Bön. There are 3 diferents ways of practicing Bön according to H.E. Yongzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche: Primitive Bön, Yungdrung Bön and New Bön, all of them are base on the Compassion and the Wisdom and there are to many methods within Bön to lead sentients beings to freedom, it's not about fulfilling worldly desires. Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche has done very extensive research about this, he is not Bönpo, so you could trust that he will not have a biased idea. You could find answers in his books about that, or you could contact Bönpo teachers to get a better insight.

Such silliness about causing harm, that’s nonsense. Dorje Shugden is the great king of Dharma Protectors. Sakya traditions also propitiated Dorje Shugden. Dorje Shugden protects the Buddha Dharma, and loves all, Buddhists and non-Buddhist, all sentient beings equally. Dorje Shugden helps to protect primarily ones own practice, and assists to create favorable and needed conditions for Dharma to flourish. Dorje Shugden is a manifestation of Wisdom Buddha Manjushri and the same nature as Je Tsongkhapa . This is about pure love, not man-made delusional sectarianism.

@Peter Mason pre-1960??? You want to discuss black magic? Perhaps you want to go back to Milarepa days? I was talking about Dorje Shugden as our Dharma Protector. We have a daily practice and for over three decades, never once any black magic or even any suggestions for it. We pray for our practice in love and compassion to increase like a waxing moon. We dedicate our prayers to the well being of those suffering or ill.

Please elaborate further. In Indonesia dark spirits would work for you if: 1. After you die, they could do anything to you a.k.a. Slavery, but the serving time could last thousands of years because spirits live way longer than human. Heck, they could even eat you like carnivorous spirits eat your spirit alive. 2. When it's time for you to reincarnate to a better place, the dark spirit will take your turn so that you will have to wait for another turn.
