Take a front row on-ride POV on Montaña Rusa- once known as Zambezi Zinger! This custom Schwarzkopf Jumbo Jet opened at Worlds of Fun in 1973, and closed in 1997, reopening in 1999 at Parque Del Café in Colombia. The ride has been operating there for over 20 years now, and is still in great condition! See what the experience is like before the new Zambezi Zinger opens later this year!

Just to clarify- the announcement you hear on the speaker up the lift hill telling someone to put their camera away was referring to an individual in the back who had their phone out. We had direct permission to film this video :)

The announcement said “visitante del primer puesto por favor guardar la cámara”, meaning “guest on the front row please put your camera away”. Not saying that you didn’t have permission to film (maybe the operator wasn’t notified) but that’s what he was saying towards the top of the lift hill.

They really put the effort in the terrain and making it fit well with the coaster. Almost looks like it was built with the terrain in mind rather than just a relocated ride. Really well done. Looks like the ride has been well taken care of too.

Just rode whizzer at six flags great America the other day, and that’s about the same age as this one, and it’s one of the smoothest coasters in the park which is crazy. It’s smoother than Goliath and even a couple of their b and m coasters

As much as I am looking forward to riding the new Zinger in a few weeks, nothing will replace this one. Riding this at night after Worlds of Fun's fireworks display was the best. All the smoke would settle in Zinger's track area making for one of the best night rides ever.

Worlds of fun should have never got rid of it. Orient express made sense because it was rough and structure problems but there was nothing wrong with zinger and it is sorely missed by many in Kansas city

Now that's some nostalgia there. When something like this is 'sold and moved from one amusement park to another (especially internationally and/or overseas), this will never hide the fact that this was the original Zambezi Zinger from Worlds of Fun. Still can't wait for the new woodie one to open, but they have since pushed it back because they have to do some more tests before the state verifies it's safe and rideable.

This was my first real coaster as a young lad living in the Kansas City area! I remember there being a lot more trees but this park did a very good job duplicating the terrain otherwise. I can't wait to ride the new Zambezi Zinger but I'm happy the original lives on.

thanks for the ride. I rode the zinger many many times in my youth. love the fact they kept the tunnel. I remember the seating position was single row and 2 could ride together bobsled style if desired. Motors on the trains would move them up the corkscrew lift. At night the headlights would be on for the ride up. Happy it can be enjoyed in its new home and was not recycled into bottle caps.

I just found out this roller coaster was not originally from Colombia. Also, before moving to Parque del Café, it was in another theme park in Bogotá (Colombia's capital) where the coaster was named "El Tornado". I remember how it broke down every other hour to the point people joked about how the real thrill was making it out alive. I rode that ride maybe 4 or 5 times and it broke down twice :)

I was fortunate to ride Zambezi Zinger many times at World's of Fun. These Schwartzkopf custom Speed Racers are so much fun! I'm a wooden roller coaster hobbyist and rarely travel specifically for any steel coaster. Right now there's four that I'd go out of my way for; Steel Vengeance, VelociCoaster, Intimidator 305 and The American Triple Loop (opens in 2024). However, watching this great video of Zambezi Zinger I'm thinking that I may actually do something as strange as go all the way to Columbia to Parque Del Cafe to ride it again at it's new home of 20 years already! I do weird things like that.

I hope you guys get a chance to film every major coaster. You do such an amazing job on capturing both on ride and off ride footage. When these coasters are long gone your footage will preserve the memories of these rides. This ride looks great at this park, I can't imagine the ride looking like that if it still existed at Worlds of Fun. Also seems like the superior jumbo jet layout, I haven't ridden too many of them but based on jet stars and whizzer this seems better.

I rode Zinger in Kansas City and Whizzer at Great America, Gurnee. For me Zinger is superior because it has the powerful surprise spiraling 4th drop after you round the tower (in Kansas City it was surrounded by trees and completely hidden) and a much stronger ending with the dual helixes and underground tunnel. Whizzer’s high banked, high g, ground level turns at the bottom of the first and second inclines equal the valley of Zinger’s spiral drop, but after that Whizzer lags. Not apparent is that Zinger also gave front seat riders some pretty good lift at the top of hills 2, 4, and 6.
@maxhagenauer24
@maxhagenauer24 Жыл бұрын
@Jeff Merritt Whizzer definitely has the better setting currently but Zinger was probably just as good if a setting when at World's of Fun right? I'd take whichever ride is more intense and has stronger moments.

The new thing is not open yet. They just announced May 25 Season Pass preview, Apart from the spiral lift and some vague layout similarities, the two rides have nothing in common. The new ride is a Frankenstein mishmash of wood and steel technologies while the Zinger was pure tubular steel. They can’t be compared.
